margaretturk- how fun!
I haven’t been logging my exercises but I have done them. Yesterday I walk over 7 miles around the ship 2 separate times. Total of around 16mile walk. 1st day I ran on the treadmill for a 5k then on the bike they had for a bit. We are on the 8th floor so we’ve been walking up and down to where we have to go.

My flower arrangement from today. The flag is for the VE Day celebrations.
I used Lilac stocks, purple tulips and yellow roses. The tall plants are purple/gold aquilegia and ferns.
I also used arum lily and variegated hosta leaves.
We also had cake with our coffee.10 -

Mine starts with an M, and doctor is still putting thru paperwork to appease the insurance company. Fingers crossed. I thought I'd was the Z one but I talked with the pharmacy and the M one is being processed. I am not sure if I will start it or not before my trip the 24th thru the 5th.

I know my dermatologist was adamant about me staying on this Spirolactone, and that his prescription trumped my doctors blood pressure med. But when I stopped by the dermatologist to let them know I only had one kidney, they only said, "we will log this and our conversation, but you need to talk to your primary doctor about it". If that's not dropping the ball, or what?!! My primary doctor walked into my appointment with him saying, " just stop taking that"! He did call me a couple days after the appointment to let me know the lab results and my kidney absorption rate went down from 75% last year to 68%. Part could be age related but the Spirolactone didn't help.

Heather - it’s so nice to read about your excursions again.
Machka - Congratulations on the loss. I need to do the same.
Lisa - we need a couple good rain days here. Are you saying your parcel may arrive by Mother’s Day this Sunday? I mailed a parcel to my Mom last Tuesday and it’s not expected to arrive until this coming Friday. Your postal service is exceptional!
Lanette - I think we put so much on our own shoulders. Good for you lifting one.
Barbara - I was at the pool for two hours but not actually swimming. I only swam probably 4-5 laps. Michaela and I played a lot, and we sat in the hot tub for a bit.
Barbie - some people around here have done some planting. I think it’s a week or so too early.
Margaret - I shared your info about uric acid with my friend that was visiting. She had gout, arthritis, weight gain and pretty sure she has kidney issues. Her blood work showed that her uric acid was high. She is two years younger than me. She also drinks apple juice in every glass of water she drinks and I know she eats oranges like candy. I hope she does some studying up on it.
Ceramics tonight. I finished a piece for Kaitlyn and started a piece for my nephew.
I am so glad tomorrow is Friday. I’m sleepy this week. I don’t know if it’s because of the busy days or what, but I’m finding myself very tired.
Saturday Kaitlyn is coming to take me out for brunch and then we are having a crafting day. Rodger shocked me tonight and suggested we go out for lunch on Sunday for Mother’s Day! He hasn’t acknowledged it for me in at least 14 years! This is a huge step.
He suggested lunch because the race and hockey will be on all afternoon and evening I’m sure, but that’s fine with me. 😂I think I’ll head to bed.

Hello Ladies;
You all make me feel like I am not alone in this. I feel bad because, at times, I am not ready to talk to DH. After all, it hurts. What happened to him happened to me. He is not one to let grass grow under his feet. He has some leads on jobs and has been interviewed by the first group. So we will see what happens. As for me, I am sticking to my original time frame. I will pick up some days to work, but that is it. I almost signed up for nine shifts, 12 hours each in a row. Then I remembered that I was knocking on 60's door and I could not kill myself doing that. It is not fair to my patients, either. Losing a job is a punch to the gut, especially when you tried your best. I lost a job that pointed me to what I wanted to be. I worked for this doctor in California. I did his billing and filing while I was in college. I got fired because the doctor was one month late paying me. He gave me the run around of who would write the check. I was 19 years old. My car was in the shop, and I needed to return to school. So, I respectfully asked for my paycheck. He told me to wait till next week. Then he showed me a diamond tennis bracelet he got for this woman he was dating. When the accountant called, I asked when I would get my check because it was one month late, and I didn't have any more money. I will need to borrow now. She was surprised that the doctor didn't write the check since she was out caring for her husband. She told him to write the check. He exploded at me, saying how dare I talk to the accountant about my check. I exploded and said that I had been so patient and all I need is the money due to me. I was in tears. I told him my car was in the shop and I had to go to school. It takes 3 hours to get there by bus. He told me to wait till Monday. I told him he had time to buy that bracelet, but he didn't have time to pay the one who convinced Medicare to pay his patient's bills. I told him respectfully that I needed the money he owed me and that I needed it now. So, I showed him how much money I was owed up to that point, and he wrote the check, and it said terminated on it. I thanked him and deposited the check. The doctor in his office hired me. I translated for this doctor in the evening, and I assisted him in putting stitches in a little boy's hand. I worked for him for a month until Dr. Goldman saw me, turned red like a tomato, and yelled at the other doctor for hiring me. So the doctor said I had to go to keep harmony in his clinic. I understood, and I felt uncomfortable seeing Dr. Goldman anyway. The doctor gave me excellent references, even for nursing school. Doctor Goldman didn't know that the job showed me what I wanted to be. I am grateful for that stepping stone.
Pip, the pictures are beautiful. What an experience. Add some with you and your friend on the ship.
Allie, Delia is growing so fast. I wonder if Mile and Delia will always look after each other. I am glad Tracey gets to stay home with them. I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom. I hope Sean gets some respite. How are you doing, Allie?
Lisa, I would tell Baby Suko to do what she needed to do. I love how you don't tolerate any BS, Lisa. Give Egg a pat and a hug for me.
Everyone, your kind words mean so much to me. I love every one of you.
Machka, how do you like the swimming lessons so far?
Rita, the egg joke cracked me up, too.🤣
Rori, I love your report so far. It means you can continue to roam the world without any health scares.
Michelle, It is by Abby Jimenez so that I will load a picture.
XO,
Mo in Mississippi.

Nessa, the labradoodle needs her flea and tick meds so she has to go to vet tomorrow for wellness check. She hates riding in the car and it is always an adventure getting a 63 pound dog in there. She is happy at the vet's but then we have to get back in the car to come home.
The rest of the day will be spent cleaning and buying groceries. DS is coming from SanDiego on Saturday to spend some time visiting us and some of his golf buddies. He will be here for Mother's day and we have reservations to eat at Big Fish Grill.
Lisa - I am jealous of youŕ new tractor. We need one so badly to clear the blackberries but can't afford it yet.
Pip - Glad you are enjoying the cruise.

Sue - My complete sympathy - blackberry vines are so awful - we had two huge patches of them when we moved in seven years ago. My son took apart the smaller one, about 10 x 15 feet, and chest high, by hand with a machete. He looked like he'd been in a knife fight. My husband went after the other with a walk-behind weed trimmer and a machete the following summer… it was taller than he was and about 20 feet on a square.
For those who don't know, the canes are so thick and ropy and the thorns are so sharp, they can just tear human skin right down to the bone. Corey hacked into the bigger patch foot by foot over an entire summer, and walked back in bleeding most days. Truly awful stuff, and I understand the need for a tractor! 😳 I was raised with them, and knew how bad it could get - but come to find out, blackberries in Alaska (where they were both born and raised) are a completely different, quite pleasant species… 😜
But the whole area where the blackberries once were is now a meadow… If not mowed for even a year, they would probably start again. I find the baby plants often, they just get mowed down like the rest. I'm not sure he would still be willing to do something like that again, we're all older now…
Mo - Do what you must, dear heart, but don't forget our oft-shared advice to each other… take care of yourself first and foremost so you can take care of others. Even more important for a nurse, I would think. We worry about you, love you, and are glad you're here with us.
Tracey - I know, we take our postal service for granted. It's kind of ridiculous, when you think about it, to have a small package sent literally 4,000 miles, from the middle of this massive country, to an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean for just $11, much less mail it on Tuesday and expect it to get there Saturday (no Sunday delivery), but yes, that's when it's expected. For less than a dollar, we can send a letter from New York to LA! We are a spoiled bunch. Hope the tiredness fades soon, dear.
Debating on what I will get accomplished, if anything, today. I was able to do a yoga session yesterday without any vertigo, very pleased about that.
Always glad to see our prodigals, Rori, Kylia. I see KJ often on Facebook, she's having a busy year, for sure.
Halfway through my one and only cup of coffee, will finish that before I do anything…
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR5 -
My poor brother! He was lying on the bed, having had a pre-med suppository, when they came in and told him the operation was off. 😱 Low platelets, anaemia, and low kidney function. So he's home now, and rang me. At least he won't be wearing a bag for his birthday next week. His wife has sickness and diarrhoea, but she had to drive 20 miles, through horrendous traffic, to pick him up. I expect he'll catch that! 😒 I still don't have a date for a visit, but it was great to talk to him. He's seeing his doctor and the original cancer team next week.
DDIL sent me some wonderful videos of the kids performing. Bea was telling a story about making friends, very clearly, no mumbling, and Max was playing the piano in some kind of church, to an audience. Both of them excellent. 🤩
John out with his cricket friend. I did make myself respectable, to say hello to him, before they set off for the bus. Beautiful day. I had Dim Sum for lunch. Heaven. Now for a nap. Lucky me.

Sue - I mentioned to Corey about the old blackberries, and he reminded me that, as he got deeper into the copse, he couldn't even cut them, so he did small, controlled fires. He would burn a couple feet at a time, make sure he had the hose near by, and just set the base on fire and tend it. Not sure I would have thought of it, but it worked well for him.

Lisa, I know exactly what you're talking about with those blackberries. They're a big problem here. They are designated a weed and we're encouraged to get rid of them, but that is not an easy task. I usually garden bare-handed, but got some gloves to try to take care of the things like the blackberries in our previous location, but nope, those gloves were no match at all for the blackberries.
I found I could pull them out if I discovered tiny, new ones starting to grow. The part of the plant that was above ground was too sharp to grab, even with gloves, but I discovered if I dug around the stem with a finger and grabbed the plant by the top of the root, it was OK.

My herbs in DrewB dog crate I no longer use for her. I placed it on a small table so it is easier to harvest herbs. Love it!

Slept late this morning. I was so tired yesterday, not sure why. Old age I guess. Got laundry done then had lunch at a small diner we found. I had a BLT and fries, which I hadn’t had in ages. It was delicious! We may visit this diner more often. We are usually going to the North side of Roswell, but since we are at this park, we have been frequenting the South side and finding new, local places to check out.
Thought for today:
My friend says, “cheer up man, it could be worse, you could be stuck underground in a hole full of water!”
I know he means well…….
Glad you all like the jokes! 🤪

Margaret - appreciate the info about protein and fructose and uric acid. Who knew? Great idea using that dog crate to protect your herbs. Gorgeous crabapple blossoms. You live in such a beautiful area.
Heather - sorry to hear about your DB, hope he doesn't catch the bug from his wife. Glad you got to talk to him.
Rebecca - good luck with the new medication M.
Debbie - I've been meaning to mention - over the past couple weeks, I've noticed the fingertips on my left hand turn white when they are cold! Looks like Raynaud's. I think you have it? Maybe they've been doing that for a long time and I just never looked at them. Haven't noticed anything in my right hand.
Mo - ((HUGS)) I don't blame you for being aggravated that doctor couldn't pay you but could buy a diamond bracelet. Doctors often aren't very smart businessmen/women. Good employees are better than diamonds!
Machka - it's going to be such a treat to hear about your wintery weather when the hot stuff comes to the northern hemisphere this summer.
Tracey - enjoy your lunch with Rodger!
Barbie - Annie was busy when you were out. Dogs are funny - our old Sophie loved to pull the squeakies and stuffing out of her toys even into her old age. Rosie has no interest, guess she's too busy sitting in her chair by the window being a watch dog.
Lisa & Sue - re Blackberries - If ever there's a catastrophe and all human life is erased from the earth, I swear blackberries will take over every square inch of land on the planet. 😮 I mow what I can get to. In the past I've tried hitting them with powerful weed killer and they look sad for a week then come back with renewed vigor. It's like I poured fertilizer on them. Seems like goats are a good solution. If I had better fencing and was 20 years younger, I'd get a couple. 😁
Nice lunch with L yesterday. She just returned from a trip to New Mexico - she loves to travel alone. She hit Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Truth & Consequences to name a few spots. Rita - I forgot to ask her if she hit Roswell. She said she visited some hot springs and spiritual chapels. It was fun to hear about her upcoming travels, friends, exercise and nutrition regiment. She's slim and in great shape, does some intermittent fasting as well, but said her A1C has been going up too. She's a former marathoner but injuries have changed her exercise to hiking and biking.
Home today and tomorrow - I'm not going anywhere and have two days to myself. 😍 Already have set the tomatoes in the sun, and have gone on several strolls through the yard to catch the early morning sun and watch the clouds. Cut up some cabbage and zucchini and stuck it in the crockpot with stew meat for supper.
Make it a fabulous Friday ladies!

I LOVE my blackberry plants, because, they are THORNLESS!! Dad started them for me. We had two 100ft rows but since he passed away, they don't get tended to as much as they should.
I loved going out with him and picking buckets of them-great time together, just him and I. I have two of his plants here at my house along with a ton of raspberries, sadly, they are not thornless but that is ok-they aren't too bad and they have taken over and are loaded with berries already. First few are starting to ripen. Need to dig up more that are in the lawn or in the path. My cousin and a friend both want plants so that works for everyone.Right as I was getting ready to fall asleep, dh said he couldn't see any of the cats in the catio(yes, he has cameras in there to watch them). I told him I would go check- outside in a tank top and underwear at 11PM- yep- they had ripped a small whole in the one spot we never added the chicken wire too because that would be covered when we did the addition, that was supposed to be done last summer but didn't)
5 cats out. I was able to catch three of them after a bit of coaxing/chasing. Two stayed out all night. Woke up at 5:30, looked in the window to the catio(had closed it so the other cats couldn't get out but left the catio door open), there was one of the cats-Dh's favorite that he was so sure was gone for good. I ran out and closed the catio door. A while later I was able to get the other one in the side door to the catio. Left them in there with the window still closed with the rest inside-they were NOT happy but oh well. Dh came home from work at 8AM and we fixed the whole and double checked the whole thing then let everyone back in the catio.
I know dh was stressed about them being out but didn't need to take it out on me-Very rude. I was freezing, trying to help, doing my best and it wasn't good enough, never good enough, even told me to shut up.Beings I was up early I transplanted more tomato plants from the hydroponic system- second batch- they have SOOO many roots. Will get more planted in the garden maybe this afternoon.
Getting ready to go walk the dog and feed then walk the wetlands
Tomorrow we will be up early to head to Lodi for a show.
Sunday, church then follow-up vet appointment for one of the kittens.
Have a great Friday ladies

update- Well, I was wrong- the cats were getting out of another spot at the very bottom of the catio in the far corner. Two of the cats that got out last night(but the easiest of the 5 to catch) were out again. Of course, DH blamed me for it because I must have done it when I was cleaning their big litter box that is in that corner(I didn't do anything to that spot). Took some time but got them both back in.
Pretty warm and I am tired so don't think I will walk the whole wetlands today. I may walk part of it, just not feeling like walking an hour in the direct sun- over 75 already.

Lanette- I have been diagnosed with Reynauds but my finger tips turn dark beet red and burn and itch terrible when they get cold. Nice that it is warmer weather so not as bad this time of the year- just don't touch anything from the freezer with bare hands.
3 -
Thanks Debbie. Mine seems to be something different. I'll keep an eye on it. Mine could be a reaction to something I'm putting my hands in these days. Hopefully our cold weather is done for a while.
Lanette

I also have Reynauds, and my fingers turn white, not red. It is very uncomfortable and unsettling. I have to be careful when I am taking things out of the freezer because that can trigger a response. If I'm having a flare (meaning, it seems to be happening multiple times a day for no reason at all) I wear gloves to retrieve things from the freezer. Ridiculous, but it is what it is. (ETA — as the flare cycles, my fingers do turn purple — and become even more painful. 😕)
Debbie — up here, we have Himalayan blackberries, which are invasive. They grow everywhere, and if we are not diligent about pulling them up when we see them, they will indeed completely take over. The berries are still tasty, but the vines become quite a nuisance. For that reason, I did not plant a blackberry bush in my garden, just two blueberry bushes. I can walk across the street and harvest as many black berries as I could ever use.
Barbie — that Annie is a pistol. Love her so much!
Pip — it looks like you all are having a wonderful time. I agree with others who say you and your friend look like you could be sisters.
Rita — staying in the new park for a couple weeks sounds like a kind of vacation. I know it was stressful, and I'm sorry for that.
Finals week over, so this week has been an extremely lazy week for me; I think the kids call it "bed rotting"? I've been watching lots of comfy British crime dramas and a few not so comfy movies. I've still managed to get a few things done, but mostly not doing much. I'll get my butt in gear next week.
Take care everyone.
