Hi all - I'm Darlene. I live in Connecticut with my Hubby, Greg, and Pup, Monty the Golden Doodle. I have one grown daughter, Allyson, who turned 30 this year. I'll be turning 65 this year!

I started my weight loss journey in January 2023. Hubby went back to work on a temporary assignment. It was the first time in my life that I was home alone - no sisters, no husband, no children. Just me and Monty. I thought this was the perfect time to put me first for a change and made a vow to lose weight, give up some bad habits, and exercise. I had this goal of completing the Airline Trail (a rail trail in Connecticut - that runs through my back yard) a little at a time. It's a 62 mile trek, give or take a tenth of a mile. Monty and I started our journey on January 12, 2023 and completed the goal, February 22, 2023. I lost 16 pounds the first two months. When the quest was completed I thought now what?

I found MFP and started tracking my food consumption, worked for a bit and then I was getting bored. This was the typical me - lose a bit and then get bored, give up and gain it all back. But then I found the challenges page on MFP. I joined a lot of different challenges, but settled on three that I liked best, the Hogwarts Challenge (I'm a Harry Potter Fan), the Biggest Loser Challenge, and a Daily Accountability Group. With the help of these groups I lost 90 pounds and made it to my goal weight, but now I and trying to figuring out the maintenance phase of my journey.

The Daily Accountability group that I was in was great for Weight Loss, but I no longer have the same struggles as the group, and it wasn't helping me with my journey. I tried a weekly accountability, but realize I need to track my goals daily to keep me going. Hoping that there might be others like me in this group.

Hi iLive2Walk, it's great to meet you, and congrats on entering maintenance! I think we've actually met on some of the previous accountability threads we've been part of in the past.🙂 We do have a couple of folks that join this thread from time to time that have met their goal weight, or first goal weight, and may be on/entering maintenance at this point. Many in this group are well on their way, or like me, restarting their journey. I hope this group can at least assist you in figuring out what you need to stay in your maintenance phase. And just by reading your journey, you've definitely inspired me, so thank you for sharing.💛

Back again for accountability.  Last post was October 2024 when I was maintaining at around 53kg but over the past few months scales have very gradually crept back up and gym leggings are becoming decidedly snug.   Time to improve my eating habits and get back to a happier weight although I need to lose slowly so as not to stall the muscle i've gained with the weights gym I joined last year. Late night snacking is still my nemesis.

Thank you @ManifestingToday for still being here 🤗

Hi @ManifestingToday - happy to be back!

I'm thinking ideally I should try to reduce 2 - 3 kilos over the next 3 - 4 months. Am still regularly lifting weights and getting stronger so I don't want to sacrifice muscle gain. Of course my head says to drop as quickly as possible, so it's going to be a bit of trial-and-error the first week or so and more than a few mind-games.

After 8 months of dealing with OH health issues and gaining another 6kg (1stone) I find myself 2 weeks off 59 weighing the heaviest I have ever been. I’ve struggled with my weight all my life and it’s gradually got higher & higher!!
I’ve had MFP for a while but only have used it to log food before (mostly last about 3 days )

June is my re-start month I have 12months and 2 weeks before Im 60! And I really want to finally be a healthy weight going into my 60’s. Hoping actually writing it down here and joining the community this time will be my secret weapon.
    thank you

    Weight 74 kilo
Goal weight 65 kilo August 15

    1 July goal : 70 kilo

Got to 68 kilo at Christmas and started drinking and eating too much, and didn’t log meals.

It’s my 60th mid August which was my goal date and I’ve been kicking myself for not sticking to it. Gave up for 5 months, and now decided to get back into it and get motivated, without looking back and feeling down about it… thx

    1 June – 56.8kg
    2 June – 56.8kg
3 June – 56.4kg - has to be water weight gone, either that or my scales need a new battery

Have decided to eat breakfast - i'm not a breakfast person, in fact i'm not a morning person at all, but if I cut out all snacks after my evening meal, then i'm into too high a calorie deficit which is not what I want. i'm trying to put improve muscle strength, not lose it.

It sounds like you are doing wonderful even with 2 pounds gained especially with how active you are. For dinner I will be having a little bit of white rice (I love white rice cant handle brown) eggs and vegetables. I don't eat meat. Have a great day.

    Hi Lisa,

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I haven’t ever been on a Semaglutide but if I recall a few others on this thread may have been, or still are. If you upped your protein would it carry you longer throughout the day? Oatmeal, salmon, beans and cottage cheese come to mind.
    Nice to meet you!

Welcome NewyorkerLee and lolamud4 — I hope you both find the encouragement and support here to move forward with all of your goals. Lisa, I wish you the best in finding the next best replacement for Semaglutide.🤞 Lolamud4, one day at a time, one small step forward each day with your goals, that's all you can ask of yourself. So much of this journey is mindset. I'm glad you are making changes for you.

Welcome back Michieb125 - It sounds like you had an amazing trip! So glad to have you back for June.

Since we have some new folks, it's just a good time to say this: You'll notice many of us have good weeks, a few blips of back-sliding, and then start moving forward again. Weight loss is not linear. So many things throw off the numbers (salt, weather, exercise or lack there of, stress, too little sleep, hormones — or lack or changes). Hopefully being here virtually gives you some support, a place to celebrate when things are going well, a place to vent when the numbers aren't going in the right direction. It's work — if it were easy, we wouldn't need a platform like this. But we can do this. There are examples in this group of folks that have done the slow and steady pace and are now reaching/exceeding their goals. Even if you have to start again, or restart again after that — just choose to keep going. 🌟
