Sunday Check Ins - starting May 18 2025

Hi there. I'm putting a post out mainly for myself, but anyone can join in. This is my Sunday check in on the START of what will be a long journey for me. I've gained quite a bit of weight as I hit menopause and I'm damned determined to be comfortable in my skin again and be strong into my senior years.
I'm 55 yrs old, work from home at a computer (ugh) and I live in Maine (ugh - long winters), so staying fit is a challenge for me. My first goal is 170lbs and having my EXISTING clothing not squeezing me like a sausage!
Weight today:
- 199.2 (ahhhhh!)
Exercise this week:
- Monday - missed the workout!!!
- Wednesday - Caroline Girvan 30 min full body w/dumbells (ouch)
- Friday - Caroline Girvan 30 min full body w/dumbells
- Sunday - Caroline Girvan 30 min cardio (oh the pain!)
I have been working out 3 days a week to work up to this for the last 3 weeks and this is the week that I finally was brave enough to weigh in and I am starting on Monday with a full program that this generous youtuber offers (one of many!)
Starting the FUEL workout tomorrow and checking in on Sundays with weight and exercises, I may add more to the check in.
Starting tracking on myfitnesspal for accountability on food - working to up my protein and lower the carbs.
Join me if you like - I am determined to use this post to keep me motivated and I'd love some company!

I’m going to weigh in Sundays also- that’s the day I can take my time in the morning 😊Just starting to get back on track and have a lot of motivation right now- maybe because the Sun is shining? Who knows?
Good to meet you! Julie1 -
You may find the 100 Day Challenge in the Challenges category helpful. It is a group of people on MFP, who weigh and report daily. We set a 100 day goal and a weekly goal and track progress, share ideas, provide encouragement and congratulations.
We are just at the beginning of week 2 of 100 day challenge #23. Link to the current challenge discussion group.

Dang, missed my own Sunday check here, but I did my measurements.
197.9 - so yay!
Carolin Girvin Fuel Workouts on:
Monday - leg day
Tuesday - upper body
Wednesday - glutes and hamstrings
Friday - all over
Sunday - cardio or faster with lighter weightsCan I just say MODIFIED! I have some serious fitness work to do, but it's not slowing my down by any means. These 30 min workouts have me left in a puddle of sweat at the end and I love it! Most measurements didn't change but I recorded everything.
Little victory, only had a few beers on Fri/Sat and resisted Sun. My husband and I helped my son move a bunch of heavy furniture and the husbeast was having beer after all the hard work. At the end of my logging if I had drank any beers on Sunday it would have put me over on calories. So glad I resisted with the temptation right in front of me! Willpower!
Welcome Julie! @blueberrymuff98 What are your goals? I'm working on losing 50lbs with my first goal to be 20lbs. I'd love to hit my first goal by August, but that's probably a bit aggressive.

I love the bold and brave accountability! I am in a similar situation. I’ve managed to lose 50 pounds and need to lose another 20. Ugh. 4 surgeries, 3 family tragedies, stress eating, stopped daily exercise routine, and here we are. I was doing WW but there’s no longer live accountability and that has always been the key for me. I’m going to cancel my membership and am looking to find a place where I can have encouragement and accountability. This may be it! Thank you for sharing your journey!

@GigiLoveandSunshine - 50lbs is an awesome success. Sorry to hear about all the stresses. I'd love it if you want to check in here! Hugs and good luck!

Happy Sunday!
Check in - was on vacation all last week but managed to successfully log food and excercise every day. Accuracy is probably not 100%, but I try. I didn't measure this morning, but I did get my workout in late, but done.
On workout 10 of Caroline Girven Fuel series.
I will weigh and measure tomorrow - I already ate and it's late in the day…
Busy work week for me after a week off! I'm hoping to get an early start to the day.

Mind if I join in? I’m 55, have 100+ lbs to lose. Started carnivore on 5/1 and lost a few lbs right away but nothing since. I have inflamed Achilles tendons but do get the dogs out for a walk daily. Have begun a home exercise routine including push ups and squats, starting at the gym next week for increased weight and more options.

@kmbrtn - Absolutely! I have been loving doing similar workouts. I'm doing a youtube program by Caroline Girven - it's a TON of squats pushup etc etc with just dumbbells. I am modifying the crap out of everything mind you. I have not worked out for about three years (hence the need to lose some weight)!
I'm not carnivore but trying really hard to up the protein. It's hard to get it up there without adding fat for me, but I could be choosing leaner options for sure. I have always wanted to try carnivore, but I'm a veg lover for sure. It would be hard for me.
Weigh in today (was supposed to be yesterday) was 198 - boooo up a pound - but I was on vacation last week and might have indulged in few things. Trulys are only 100 calories - haha. So back to business. Did ALL my workouts last week which I was super proud of.

I’d like to join in too. I’m 55 and need to lose 50-70lbs, not only because I’m tired of carrying all this extra weight, but I also need to get my blood pressure under control without having to take medication. I started walking three days a week for an hour each time, and am counting calories. I’ve been trying to lose weight for years, and this time I am determined to do it. I’m going to look up the Caroline Girven YouTube program. That sounds like something I could do, with modifications.
