Tips for Managing Side Effects on Ozempic?

Hi everyone! I’ve been using Ozempic for about 6 months now and have definitely gone through some ups and downs with the side effects. Here are a few tips that worked for me:
1. Nausea: I found that taking Ozempic in the evening, after a small meal, helped reduce nausea a lot. Also, ginger tea has been my best friend!
2. Hydration: Staying hydrated has made a big difference, especially since Ozempic can sometimes suppress appetite, and I’d forget to drink water too. I set reminders on my phone, which really helps.
3. Eating Smaller, More Frequent Meals: For those experiencing stomach issues, I noticed smaller meals worked better than a big meal. It’s also made it easier to stick to my diet and avoid bingeing.

I actually wrote a detailed guide on my journey with Ozempic, including some tips that I found helpful along the way. Feel free to check it out if you’re interested: My Ozempic Guide. Hope these tips help, and best of luck to everyone on their journey!”

Thank you for sharing the tips that helped you. I was put on ozempic last week to help drop weight. Not for diabetes, but for the painful symptoms that carrying excess weight is causing me, which affect my ability to move enough and sleep comfortably. Maybe it was a placebo effect, but within the first day I felt like the "food noise" that comes with my having PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) has gone away. For the first time in my life I didn't finish a meal because I actually FELT comfortably full! This was just on the lowest dose. I'm to ramp up to the next dose size on Thursday, which is 4 days from now.

I am excited about this medication, as my stomach already looks less bulgy, and my face isn't puffy. My doctor had warned to be sure to drink "plenty of water" as this can contribute to slow moving bowels. Thank you again for sharing what has helped you. How are you doing with ozempic now? Has it helped you lose weight?

Your doctor is right. Definitely drink plenty of water and keep an eye on your bowel movements. GLP drugs can cause intestinal paralysis in rare cases.

sollyn2312, thank you for mentioning intestinal paralysis. That would not be fun to experience! I have felt so very thirsty since taking the first dose last Thursday, so am drinking more water than normal. I take a daily dose of Zyrtec for my year-around allergies, and I wonder if there is an interaction happening, or if it's just coincidence. I guess time will tell.
