@plantpowered I have read in many books and articles longer time periods are better than short, for example your liver can hold on to water for up to 14 days, and your kidneys 10 days, So getting a 9-10 day average is going to really show you the trend. What is interesting is what you weight on the scale on any given day, is just noise, without a week of weigh in's it doesn't tell you a lot.
For example I rode about 40 miles yesterday, I ate more than my goal of 1580 calories, I ate about 2200, but I burned according to Garmin ~1000 calories on the ride, but I know today I will weigh more than yesterday, because of the hard exercise I will retain more water than I did yesterday. Yup I am up a lbs from yesterday, logic says I should be even lower but the body needs to process out everything, and that can take 7 days. So some books says use a 14 day average to truly know your weight.
I just keep on plugging along, I don't worry about any given day, I care about the 10-14 trend.

PS: I did expect my weight to go up today and tomorrow, I rode hard on Saturday, and the longer and harder I go, the more water I hold on too, that is why I focus on the 10-14 day trend. Trends matter, days don't! It can take your body 3-4 days to just fully process what you have eaten, biochemistry in motion!

Thank you: I usually don't stress about the daily weigh in, but I didn't know this about kidneys and liver. I had noticed this about weight when I used to ride with my bike club. It used to puzzle me at first after long rides. I also still notice this after hikes over 10 miles: I always weigh more for at least two days. I appreciate your detailed response! I'm going to revise my spreadsheet.

Yesterday was better on the nutritional side. It was a recovery day, so my hour of exercise was a long, slow yoga session after a 10 minutes mobility warmup. I'll probably do a Zwift ride later Have a great day, everyone!

Hi everyone.
I am Dawn. I live in SE British Columbia Canada. I am 5'2" (or 5'3"?) and 64 years of age. I have done a bunch of these 100s now, I have lost count lol. I was sitting at 130 for quite awhile, trying desperately to get into the 120s, but gained little by little over the last couple of years. My "ideal" weight should be between 110-118 for my height, BMI, and stuff. At this point I just really want to get back into the 130s.
Week 1 Start Weight: 144.4
Week 1 Goal: 142.4 (seems lofty, but I was at 143.0 for two days in a row at the end of the last 100)
Week 1 Actual Weight: 144.2- Hit 142.6 this week, the day before the end of our week, which was so close to my goal.

Day 36—06/19— 139.0 - Hummus with water crackers and other snacks like nuts in lieu of dinner last night. I think that I will do the same tonight, being that Wednesday and Thursday I work at 2 different jobs, so I am home later and not really interested in dinner. I like snacks better than food anyway lol.
Day 37—06/20— 139.4 - This is my last weekend to work the 11-7 shifts at my primary job, then I go back to split shifts the following weekend and beyond. I was so bagged yesterday that I left my second job early last night, so I had an actual dinner. I don't plan on keeping that job longterm, just until September. When I get back from my holidays in October I will do shifts at my 3rd job (which will become my second job) instead. I know that I talk about work too much. I have been on 7 days a week instead of my usual 6 days per week, so that is pretty much all that I do…work. I do get up extra early in the mornings to try to accomplish a few things in the garden. House is a disaster, but that isn't going anywhere, I will eventually get to it…possibly lol. I will always find any reason to do stuff outside rather than clean my house. I did wash the floors a week ago, and haven't been home much to dirty them. Tiny win : - )
Day 38—06/21— 139.0 - We are absolutely having April weather here right now. Horrific for my peppers and tomatoes : - ( My furnace even came on last night! Argh. Raining still since yesterday. I am going to sprinkle some grass seed and do another portion of my porch before work this morning.
Day 39—06/22— 140.4 - 2 black russians last night and accompanying snacks. I do love 1/8 cup of wasabi almonds, but try not to have that more than once per week because although delicious, there is no doubt too much salt. I do love cocktails, but I also understand that as soon as alcohol goes in the fat burning process stops because it is busy dealing with the alcohol. Still, at the end of the night when I want more snacks I chew gum instead. That seems to work for me. Cocktail party Monday night, so I shouldn't have had drinks last night, but I really felt like it and did have them, so gained the weight and will move on.

Day 36—06/19— 169.4 - Yes, I expected to have an increase, but its back on program today. Had the chili cheese dogs with no buns for lunch. I plan on a salad for dinner. My daughter got me a ceramic lined water bottle that I had on my Amazon wishlist. I was thrilled! Just last night, I thought to myself about the metallic taste of my old water bottle, which will be washed and donated.
Day 37—06/20— 169.4 - I had a bad breakfast.....2 slices of buttered toast with peach jam. Oh well....dinner will be a salad or a tuna salad sandwich. Depends on my mood. Feeling a little unsettled today.
Day 38—06/21— 169.8 - Overslept so I had an early lunch...tuna sandwich. Not sure about dinner. I am beginning to think not taking insulin is affecting my weight loss. My daughter bought me an aquarium stand for a 10 gallon aquarium for my birthday. Now all I need is an aquarium to put on it. 😂
Day 39—06/22— 168.2 - Nice to see the gain of last week gone. My plan was to go swimming today, but its very cloudy out. Will wait till this afternoon to see if they clear. A light breakfast to take my pills. Several options for dinner. Feeling a bit more upbeat today.

My goal from the very beginning has been to lose one pound per week for a total of 12 pounds per challenge. I have never considered that to be too much and I never thought in a million years I would find it this difficult, even at my age and with my health problems. But it’s proved to be nothing but an uphill climb and in most cases, impossible. I am going to lower my goal to 10 pounds per challenge and see if that will feel more right, more do-able. This breaks down to 0.7 lbs per challenge week. I don’t think that is too much to ask of my mind, my body and my spirit! I, again, thank you for sharing my journey with me and allowing me to travel with you on yours. It is reassuring, refreshing, enlightening and inspiring and I am forever grateful.

big storm yesterday; lots of thunder and lightning. We stayed in the trailer during the storm . We took a drive before and after. Found a bakery in the AM. Enjoyed a cinnamon roll and butter tart for lunch. Did two walks after the storm passed. The sweets took a big bite out of my calories. I tried to balance that by having chicken and vegetables for dinner and no wine. I still went over but kept the Precision Nutrition ‘damage control’ article ion my mind . IN 2101 OUT 2237. Because I round IN up and OUT down the deficit is nil. Still better than a surplus, which is what I typically have while camping.

I switched from a 7-day running average to a 10-day running average. The past 10 days earned me a plateau. I have learned that 1600 calories is a maintenance range for me right now, so I've adjusted the conditional formatting for the cell colors.
The goal is to stay below 1600, which I accomplished the past two days.
Yesterday was spin bike (Zwift) and strength training. It kicked my butt. Walks and yoga are in the mix for today.

Hi everyone.
I am Dawn. I live in SE British Columbia Canada. I am 5'2" (or 5'3"?) and 64 years of age. I have done a bunch of these 100s now, I have lost count lol. I was sitting at 130 for quite awhile, trying desperately to get into the 120s, but gained little by little over the last couple of years. My "ideal" weight should be between 110-118 for my height, BMI, and stuff. At this point I just really want to get back into the 130s.

I was so bagged yesterday that I left my second job early last night, so I had an actual dinner. I don't plan on keeping that job longterm, just until September. When I get back from my holidays in October I will do shifts at my 3rd job (which will become my second job) instead. I know that I talk about work too much. I have been on 7 days a week instead of my usual 6 days per week, so that is pretty much all that I do…work. I do get up extra early in the mornings to try to accomplish a few things in the garden. House is a disaster, but that isn't going anywhere, I will eventually get to it…possibly lol. I will always find any reason to do stuff outside rather than clean my house. I did wash the floors a week ago, and haven't been home much to dirty them. Tiny win : - )
Day 38—06/21— 139.0 - We are absolutely having April weather here right now. Horrific for my peppers and tomatoes : - ( My furnace even came on last night! Argh. Raining still since yesterday. I am going to sprinkle some grass seed and do another portion of my porch before work this morning.

I do love 1/8 cup of wasabi almonds, but try not to have that more than once per week because although delicious, there is no doubt too much salt. I do love cocktails, but I also understand that as soon as alcohol goes in the fat burning process stops because it is busy dealing with the alcohol. Still, at the end of the night when I want more snacks I chew gum instead. That seems to work for me. Cocktail party Monday night, so I shouldn't have had drinks last night, but I really felt like it and did have them, so gained the weight and will move on.

Thoughts at the start of this round:
My goal from the very beginning has been to lose one pound per week for a total of 12 pounds per challenge. I have never considered that to be too much and I never thought in a million years I would find it this difficult, even at my age and with my health problems. But it’s proved to be nothing but an uphill climb and in most cases, impossible. I am going to lower my goal to 10 pounds per challenge and see if that will feel more right, more do-able. This breaks down to 0.7 lbs per challenge week. I don’t think that is too much to ask of my mind, my body and my spirit! I, again, thank you for sharing my journey with me and allowing me to travel with you on yours. It is reassuring, refreshing, enlightening and inspiring and I am forever grateful.

That is because I can easily fluctuate up or down several pounds due to water retention, hormones, TMI (potty) or a special event/weight gain. I am cautiously optimistic that I’ll get there soon. Day 36—06/19— 169.4 - Yes, I expected to have an increase, but its back on program today. Had the chili cheese dogs with no buns for lunch. I plan on a salad for dinner. My daughter got me a ceramic lined water bottle that I had on my Amazon wishlist. I was thrilled! Just last night, I thought to myself about the metallic taste of my old water bottle, which will be washed and donated.
Day 37—06/20— 169.4 - I had a bad breakfast.....2 slices of buttered toast with peach jam. Oh well....dinner will be a salad or a tuna salad sandwich. Depends on my mood. Feeling a little unsettled today.
Day 38—06/21— 169.8 - Overslept so I had an early lunch...tuna sandwich. Not sure about dinner. I am beginning to think not taking insulin is affecting my weight loss. My daughter bought me an aquarium stand for a 10 gallon aquarium for my birthday. Now all I need is an aquarium to put on it. 😂
Day 39—06/22— 168.2 - Nice to see the gain of last week gone. My plan was to go swimming today, but its very cloudy out. Will wait till this afternoon to see if they clear. A light breakfast to take my pills. Several options for dinner. Feeling a bit more upbeat today.
Day 40—06/23— 168 - Had breakfast out this morning. Took the pills too soon, now my stomach is upset. It will pass. No lunch....very light dinner. A hot day....will be staying in.

Yesterday was a good food day. I feel like going to Costco was my exercise. lol. I’ve noticed my body reacts slowly to sugar and carbs—taking 2–3 days to show on the scale—but responds quickly to high-sodium foods, usually by the next day. Have to keep that in mind.

Week 5 Ending Weight: 143.6Day 36—06/19— 144.4. I had some pasta for dinner, which always makes me hold on to extra water weight. I've been feeling extra drained lately, so didn't have the energy to go to the gym. Again. I also didn't go for a walk, due to extreme heat (110 degrees by the time I had a chance to get outside). So not the best day for weight loss.
Day 37—06/20- 143.2. Long walk. No gym. Food was okay.
Day 38—06/21— DNW
Day 39—06/22—DNWDay 40—06/23— 144.4. I took the last couple of days "off" just because I needed a mental break from everything. There was a lot of eating, little movement, no tracking and no weighing. But I'm back at it today. I'm ready to refocus and continue working towards my goals.
Day 41—06/24— 145.7. There's the rest of the gain after my splurging. Hopefully it'll start going back down now.
