Did Firm’s Total Sculpt plus Abs DVD, took Ganon for a walk, then went to WalMart and bought gas. Went in the pool, now here, then have dinner, take Ganon for another walk, take a shower and bed.
Got this bowl that’s collapsible that I can attach to Ganon’s leash so he can have a drink when we go on a walk. Also got him a slow feeder because Jess has already forgotten hers twice, so we’ll just have one here. Vince got him an extra large mat to keep here so that when he takes a drink, water doesn’t go everywhere on the floor
Barbara – you’ve given me something to think about regarding cooking for Jess and Colby. I’m going to suggest that maybe she cook on M,W,F and I’ll cook on Tu, Th, and Sat. We’ll figure out something for Sun. Maybe it’ll be “finish up the leftovers” or going out or just plain old pizza. I would, however, like to plan the menu for at least the next week so that I can minimize how often I have to go to the store for ingredients.
Oh, I didn’t lose one of my earrings! I just never put it in. I found it on the bathroom vanity, right where I leave them before I put them in.
Made an apple cake. Got a few bags of apples from the soup kitchen. Why people didn’t take them, I have no idea. They are so good. Hopefully, they’ll still have some next Friday.
Have yogurt in the IP. It should be ready later tonight and then I’ll let it drip overnight.
Ginny – how wonderful for you.
Lisa – Corey would never want you to compromise your health. I took Ganon for a walk early because I wanted to do it before it got too hot out. Continue to take care of yourself
Carla – my neighbor’s hubby had knee replacement and he’s in a lot of pain. Yet, I was talking to a woman at the soup kitchen Fri and she was telling me how her 85yearold father had knee replacement and was up and around the next day. Everyone is different
Carol – you are so right, GA DID have a lot rain in May. How well I remember those storms we drove thru going to the condo in early May! You couldn’t even see in front of you.
Working in the heat: I honestly don’t have a problem with the heat (add in humidity and then it’s another story). But the cold really bothers me to no end. Even at BK, I can be in the refrigerator during the winter as little as possible. But in July it doesn’t bother me one bit to stand in front of the broiler. So I really don’t have a problem working in the heat. I just don’t like that the sidewalk, retaining wall, etc. are hot.
Margaret – you wouldn’t have been maimed for life unless the doctor did something. I’ve had numerous fiberadinomas removed (my breasts look like train tracks)but I’m not maimed. You know something, at my age I probably wouldn’t go thru chemo if ever I had cancer. I’d want to enjoy what life I had left, not be sick all the time. I certainly don’t want to have cancer, but I don’t know that I’d go thru chemo at this point in my life. But I fully support anyone who decides that chemo is the right choice for them
pip – beautiful ornaments. What material are they made of?
M – we did the same thing, walked home from school, to the grocery store, downtown,. Vince can’t believe how much I like to walk. I just wish there were more places around here that you could walk to. That’s one thing that I love about FL. I can walk to the postoffice, grocery store, dollar store, downtown, thrift store – all over
Lisa – how come you are no longer wearing your Fitbit?
Margaret – growing up, my a/c was “sleep by the window with it open”. Same for in the car “open the window”
Beth – lovely bathrooms. That’s an interesting cabinet, never seen one like it. I would think something like that might be good in a kitchen, too.
Bowling in a few.

Heart doctor today. Had a bad night last night. Colitis showing its ugly head with lots of gas pains, GERD, and unexpected bathroom runs (pun intended!). Woke up with GERD (acid reflux) when Lucy got me up at 6 AM for her morning walk. Acid and gas still a thing. I looked this all up and found some recommendations to ease the cramps. Will stop at RX after doc to see if I can find some. Upped my Budesonide pills as well. The bad part of microscopic collagenic colitis is that there is no cure, simply address the symptoms. Lucy and I took a nap after walk, then I tried oatmeal and a banana. which settled some of the acid. Oh well, C'est la vie!
Thought for today:
Did I ever tell you about the time I went mushroom foraging?
It’s a story with a morel at the end.

Beth - That looks really good. You must be proud of it! 😃
I chatted with G and found out that our friend in France does have children after all, but she didn't have grandchildren. Fertility problems. Just recently, a very last attempt with IVF has resulted in the birth of a baby boy to her son, so joy all round. They live in Dubai, but are visiting soon from a trip to London. The friend keeps a base in London with her daughter.
Just had a chat with my old uni flatmate. She sounds about the same. Feeling her age. She has an ancient dog, so isn't going far at the moment. But all cheerful enough. Enjoying each day.
Bea pick up tomorrow. I've just volunteered John for another stint on Thursday, so that DDIL can go up to Croydon to pick up a special, made-to-measure, bicycle. Very exciting! I can't help because I have Zoom then.
I feel very blessed.

I KNOW, right? I need to make me a yummy buttermilk dressing. Need to look up ingredients and just omit sodium. Kraft is ok except for that sodium!

Michele maimed was too strong of a word but because of the location I would have according to the second opinion doctor I would have had a issue with the after affects of the surgery that would have created problems for me. I am just glad she gave me a less invasive option even if the procedure was done so poorly.

Just a quick check-in before breakfast and second to last “Classic Fit” class.
Okie, “both at the same time” wow. If it came to that I’d do the same, being afraid that after one, I’d be reluctant to do the other…
Heather, jealous of your cherry tree. No organic cherries yet at Freddies, and the non-organic ones have not been sweet.
Beth Hooray! It’s done!!! And beautifully.
Margaret DrewB is lucky to have you.
Rita that bridge reminds me of the San Mateo-Hayward bridge. It seemed to go straight UP from the surface of the bay. In addition to the height and water, one of my issues with bridges is that sometimes the “world” on the other side is just a little bit “different” as if it was a bridge to an alternate universe, but then I’m crazy…
Only through pg 27 but time to scoot!
Later, lighter, lovelies!

Beth - Love the bathroom! And woot! for finishing. It's a beautiful upgrade from the "before" pic.
Michele - I did say why I wasn't wearing it anymore in the same paragraph. Counting everything is just self-inflicted competition for me. Always trying to do things better, faster, step further, work out longer, sleep longer even! Time to stop. Just one more transition to retirement.
Later, y'all,

Heather - thank you so much for mentioning the Zaatar seasoning. One of my favorite FB cooking videos is "Shred Happens" using Middle Eastern seasonings that aren't available around here. You mentioned the blend you use has thyme and I see some on Amazon that have hyssop instead. Have you ever tried that one? I once raised Hyssop, but never used it as an herb.
Barbara - many thanks for the BB&B link. I see they have instruction about wearing a weighted vest. 😁
I remember growing up in Indiana… "it's not the heat, it's the humidity!" No A/C growing up and humid nights "cooled" down into the mid-70's. All we had were fans. For some reason, even when we do get hot daytime temperatures out here on the wet side of WA State, the nights cool off and I'm able to open the windows and garage first thing in the morning, get fans going to draw in the cool air/blow out the hot and in doing so, then shut the house up tight. Normally I can keep the A/C off until mid-afternoon.
Make it a fabulous week!

Yeah geez Machka, IDK where you get your MRIs done, but once you're strapped in here in the US, there's no "easy to get out of" until they're done! The last one I had was two hours long and I was in from head to lower hip. That IS "a good portion of my body". So thanks so much for the compassion.
Last time they checked the cartilage in my knees Okie, they did an MRI to confirm the status. That's why I'm worried. I'm hoping their standard x-rays have gotten better since then.
All I know is that I have to talk to a surgeon or get another cortisone shot soon because just getting up and down from my desk chair is getting troublesome. I'm using an app called LazyFit to make sure that I move on a regular basis during the day so my knees don't get stiff, but they're still sore when I stand up at the end of a day.
I've always been a pragmatist, Margaret! My GP knows this. He's not particularly happy about it, but he knows it and respects it. We play our little game every year at my annual exam. Still has to ask me the same questions and already knows the answers. Was the same way with the vaccines. smh... "I'll deal with whatever comes, if it ever comes."
Thanks Barbara... glad someone can feel my "pain"
God Bless you, Flea. So happy that you're feeling "well" and you're here. One of my J/SH bestie's three kids all had their breasts removed after being tested for that "gene"... AFTER the oldest survived breast cancer. They realized that it was genetic and the youngest was his son. He had the gene too. smh... But they're cancer free, thank God.
Pip, those memorial ornaments are beautiful.
LOVE bridges! (which is kind of odd considering the 35W bridge collapse was so close to home) But Freddy and I think bridges are just awesome! We love architecture in general, so anything cool or funky or amazing. Would love to do the Sydney Harbor Bridge, but I can't imagine ever getting to Australia. Far too long a trip for either of us with my knees and Freddy's back. The Mackinac Bridge in MI is amazing! Silly, but our favorite is just the tiny, little Lift Bridge in Duluth, MN. Could sit and watch that thing all day, every day. Not that he was qualified or anything, but Freddy actually put in an application the last time that there was an opening for an operator, just to say that he'd applied. (gawd, my hubby is a dork 🙄) The next Big, BIG trip that we want to do after I retire is the Keys.
That's all I've got for today.
Love and Blessings

So the recipe for buttermilk dressing is buttermilk, mayo, and spices. Pretty simple. I will just shake it all in a mason jar and call it good. It only has 1 tsp of salt in the recipe and that will help my numbers. Of course there's fat in there but I only use a bit at a time. How long does buttermilk keep? I might have to use my Kodiak pancake mix and instead of milk add buttermilk to use the buttermilk up. Those might be good to have in the freezer right?

Well, this week is my eldest sailor sons time to check out options for his next and last duty station. Fingers crossed it will be one that will leave his 20 years in the Navy on a high note. Texted with him this past weekend, and he said he is tired of all the drama. My opinion he is just tired in general, but using his environment as a valid excuse, poor kid. Positive thoughts appreciated.💖🙏⚓

I think some of you don't quite understand chemo. Few people are on it their whole life. Most of us who have had it worked through it. I had infusions every other week for 8 weeks, I think, and I worked, went hiking, and still spent time with my family. I wasn't nauseated or particularly sick, just fatigued for a day or two after the infusion. My life isn't horrible and definitely better than being dead. Last week, I hiked four miles at 10,000 feet, so doing pretty good, and I got to see my son graduate from high school. I have excellent quality of life, so don't push me into the grave just yet! Lol
Flea, feeling a little testy in the Willamette Valley, but happy and still love you all!

Hello to all.
I have to admit, I’m a bit envious of your heat. It’s again chilly, windy, and gloomy in Southern California. I look forward to sweating a bit and enjoying outdoor evening meals and drinks when I’m in Ireland soon.
Rosemarie-I have a similar desire to go somewhere and write where I don’t feel like I have to be a tourist. It likely won’t happen. The MRIs I’ve had were also not completely enclosed, depending on what was being a scanned. I wasn’t strapped in either. They just told me to hold still. For my knee, only the lower legs went in. It took 15 mins. I don’t find them bothersome or even particularly loud. The neighbor’s non-stop barking dog is far more bothersome. I think some of you may have had older equipment, maybe. I have compassion, because I’ve seen claustrophobia, but I can’t relate.
I also like heights. I love roller coasters, Ferris wheels, thrill rides. I even spent time in a sensory deprivation chamber. The only things that bother me are things that spin.Tracey-I’m so glad you are taking that trip. It’ll be good for your soul.
Beth-The bathroom looks great!
Lisa-I’m envious of the energy you have to do outside work in the yard. I despise yard work in all its forms.
Machka-I hope your van troubles are easy to fix.
I’ve been doing a weekly hike fairly consistently, for about 6 weeks now. It’s good for me and the mister. We are boring each other and really need time away from each other. He had another surgery last Tuesday to replace the unscrewing screw. We are back to walking 3 miles a day. He still has pain, but barely a limp and we are keeping under 20 minute miles.I’m having trouble keeping my calories in check these days. I don’t have an excuse. I just feel hungry and tired all the time, so I think I have to eat. It’s not dehydration. That’s one thing that is in control. I have 1.6 pounds I’d like to lose in 2 weeks, which I just don’t think will be reasonable.
I hope you all have a great week.

Flea husband was on an oral chemo for the last five years of his life. My sister spent the last two and half years on chemo. It was awful for both of them. It depends on your type of cancer and when it is discovered.
My first reaction to when we went see the onocologist was this was a big money making machine. The last year of his treatment cost $250,000 dollars yes you read that right and he only got sicker with that treatment. Something is so wrong in how cancer and cancer prevention is treated in this country!

Beth - great job on bathroom!
Margaret - I agree we have control over somethings.
Flea - my mother in her 80's did well with chemo for a couple of years. Like you two days after she would feel fatigued. After a couple of years it lost its effectiveness for her. Her docs were willing to keep trying but one day she said "You know, I am done with this and don't want to start another course." (after tumors were spreading). Her oncologist told her "I am at peace with your decision" and she said "So am I." At 86, her body was just tired. But she had 2-three years of pretty good quality of life. I think you have had excellent results. When I was first diagnosed in 1996, my boys were 8 and 5. All I wanted was to see them graduate (they would be raised then). Now they are in their 30s and fathers, and I'm still kicking around! As my oncologist said last week, everyone's biology is different, and their cancers are different. I'm making my decisions a recurrence at a time.
Well that's enough philosophy for me tonight. Got home from work and called group that helps with the Ohio Public Retirement system linkage to retirement insurance. Signed up. Got medigap plan I want and a drug plan for 0 monthly cost. My two current prescriptions will cost $60 a year. My medigap plan is covered by the HRA I get (with some money left over) and my part B will come out of husband's social security I get. I feel comfortable starting out. I feel very blessed with the retirement I have.
As much as I hate to go outside, I need to get trash out to the curb. Trash collectors are starting very early this week due to the heat.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

Stayed inside today.I did too it was 95 today and stayed in the A.C. I will not go over the Chesapeake Bay bridge..I've been over the Sunshine Skyway in Tampa that is terrifying..and also took the 7 miles bridge to key west..it was worse when we left early in the dark ,I think I held my breath until we got to Homestead ..Im afraid of heights, and like John Pinette I don't do ups..had problems signing in today.

Most of my MRIs (and I have had quite a few) have been done in Australia.
Private radiology clinics.
No restraints ... no strapping in.
New equipment and technology.
Dedicated to patient care and comfort. If a person is claustrophobic, they encourage the person to have a chat about ways that they might feel more comfortable.
I have walked across the Sydney Harbour Bridge ... on the footpath. 😀
It's slightly shorter than the Tasman Bridge.
I've also walked and cycled across the Tasman Bridge.
Not fond of bridges, but I use them.

So. This happened. Last night when I sat in my folding chair outside, it ripped. Fred and I have been saying we need new chairs since they are 22 years old and falling apart.
Well this morning I let the dogs out and sat on my chair. The bottom came out and I was sitting on the ground stuck in it. I couldn't roll it over, I couldn't roll it forward. All the things you assume would work didn't. Of course Fred is sleeping with his ringers off.
I scooted to the broom and banged on the wall. I made the dogs bark. I assumed I'd be sitting on the ground playing poker until Fred got up in an hour or so. Meanwhile I'm texting all this to my friends and kids because it's kind of funny.
Suddenly two hot fire fighters were there assisting me up. I was so embarrassed. I don't know whether to thank my daughter or disown her.

I'm sorry for the medical trauma you and your family have gone through. It is not the experience of all, and I hate to hear people make pronouncements ahead of time based on traumatic experiences that might not play out in their case.
I think it's also important to consider that the misery may have been the cancer not the drugs. One online associate I knew was miserable taking the drugs I am doing well on. She wanted to feel "normal" again, so went off of them. Turned out she didn't feel a bit better. It was her cancer that was making her feel the most miserable, not the drugs at all. :(
Cancer and other chronic illnesses just suck. There's no sugar coating it
Take care.

Kim - I’m sorry your Mom continues to take advantage of you. I hope you are able to find assistance for her in other ways.
I don’t know how you have been able to keep your food budget so low. From what I’ve seen on here our prices are comparable.Machka - I used to collect pinwheel crystal. It all started when I was 16 and received my hope chest. Had pretended for years to drink champagne out of some fancy drinking glasses my grandmother had and pretended it was crystal. She bought me my first set.
My “china” is actually her mother’s dishes and hers. I have one platter that I bought at an antique store that was my Mom’s everyday dishes when I was growing up.
I miss walking in bare feet. Since I had the bout of plantar fasciitis I find I’m unable to walk without shoes.Sue - it was a rainy cool day here yesterday as well.
Flea - I’m glad you’re making friends with an old friend again. They say that women need friendships more than men.
Lisa - I haven’t had the health issues you had, but I know my hip pain really brought me down because of what I couldn’t do.
Travelling with friends - I have a couple friends I love sharing a room with, it reminds us of our childhood. There are more friends though that I don’t like sharing a room with. I will I just don’t find it as much fun.
Margaret - I have some cousins who have the same feeling as you regarding cancer treatments. I also have cousins that have lived very well after treatment. I don’t know how I feel about it all yet, I admire your dedication to becoming healthier to avoid it altogether.
Heather - I love the photo of the Ferris wheel.
Pip - Those plaques look nice.
I love bridges. We had two in the town I’m from. The Longest Covered Bridge in the World at 1842 ft.
Hugh John Fleming Bridge, I’ve seen a truck dangling over the side of it when I was a kid. The driver survived. That’s happened several times and still the drivers think they have a handle on it and don’t pay heed to the warning signs telling them to slow down!
Carol - Which Sandra Brown book are you reading?
Beth - what a beautiful bathroom.
So much work.Cheryl - happily you weren’t injured and what a fun story that will be in a few months.
I have put a personal day request on June 30th. We are off on Tuesday for Canada Day so this will give me 4 days off. I don’t have plans but will enjoy the break. I still have 8 days, and 5 hours to use up before the year ends. This doesn’t include sick time. I won’t be taking any time during July as both of my coworkers that help with the phones are off for a lot of the month. I am thinking of taking a week in August and saving the rest in the event we do Markets this winter. I haven’t made up my mind yet.
