Speaking of grands, this one of my Eli in hot Utah pretty much is self explanatory!😥💖
Then they got into water so he was happier!
And Athena!
Athena looks like she is double jointed! I will have to ask son about that!
Today I kept it fairly easy at the gym. Leisure walked! But my heart rate was 120 so some workout and in one of the first "zones" on the poster. I can't manage 150 every darn day. Last night I put zoltarin on my knees, or whatever its called (ointment with pain reliever in it), so I will put that on, on days when I jog.
Todays fare was a turkey, cheese and spinach sandwich, and tonight will be some pub beer battered fish, cottage cheese and wilted spinach.
Showing my liquid intake. Trying!

😀 In today's mail I got a letter from the credit card I rarely use, telling me that they had raised my credit limit to $17,000. That's crazy. It's a higher limit than either of the credit cards that I've used regularly for years.
😀 On today's "Jeopardy" there was a mention of the Statue of Liberty". It reminded me of the visit I made to her by myself in 1995 so I looked for a YouTube video. I saw a great video with a great tour from getting tickets all the way through climbing to the crown and down and then to Ellis Island. When I went in 1995, I just showed up and made the climb. Now you have to get tickets online and they might not be available. It reminded me of a video I saw recently about watching the sunrise over Haleakala on Maui. When I was on Maui in 1974, someone picked me up early in their car and we drove up, watched the sunrise and drove back to where we were staying. Now you have to make reservations ahead of time and wait in long lines. I was so fortunate to do so many interesting things when I was young and places weren't so well known and overcrowded.

Heather - The good part is that you've been there for so much of that journey. As have we, vicariously... Lovely girl, and will be a beautiful woman.

Yesterday our forecast was partly cloudy and dry but about 15 min before DD and I went out to feed horses it started to rain. We went out expecting it to be very brief but it just rained harder for the entire time we were doing chores. When we came out of the barn there was an awesome rainbow just above the tops of the trees. It was very bright and the colors very distinct. I thought of you Beth. It made me feel peaceful and hopeful.
Allie - glad you are having a good trip.
Mo - after my DH retired from teaching he drove a courtesy van for the VW dealership in Sioux Falls. It was the perfect job for him because he loved to chat and had a captive audience.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA

Machka, when our GSD Rex got skunked we tried quarts and quarts of tomato juice. Alas, it was not effective for us. This morning Mooch found something really disgusting (bear poop?) and rolled in it, either to conceal or enhance the skunk scent. Into the tub with good ol’ Dr. Bronner’s castile soap. Got rid of the poop smell but not the skunk. Ugh. Really hope the groomer has a magic potion. Also hope your energy level picks up. Mine too!
Allie what others have said, so glad your cousins are taking good care of you and treating you right. How do you like Tennessee?
Margaret, pink and blue blossoms on the same hydrangea? Pockets of pH difference in the soil? Or just your magic green thumb?
Tracey sorry to learn the training position is restricted to RNs. Was thinking the company could use your training skills to teach office and accounting staff non-medical procedures and systems…
Mo stick to your guns. Both your DS and your DH will figure it out. ;} Love the Rose pics.
Terri you almost make me want to join those accountability groups, I still miss mfp’s newsfeed.
Lisa brava for successful PT exercises!
Education, I’m ashamed to confess I totally squandered the opportunities Mama and Papa scrimped and saved to give me. Neither had a HS diploma, Papa left after the 8th grade to help support his mother, sister and brothers. Mama put herself through a business course to do better than the waitressing that sustained her after the orphanage. I worked part time through the 4 years of university to cover some of my expenses but they made up the rest. Then I failed to graduate. Didn’t turn in papers. Incomplete was my most frequent grade. Ten years later, the company I worked for had a tuition reimbursement plan, so I earned a BS in Transportation while working full time. Mama and Papa finally got to see me graduate, and were pleased that it was Summa…
Action for happiness:
22-Three hopeful things::Joe continues to develop a positive reaction to little glitches, is friendly to Mooch, and is getting out of the chair almost every day to putter around getting the house ready for winter.

Very busy few days. Saturday evening we had a tornado in my neighborhood. just a couple of blocks or so area. Rated as EF1 (100 mile an hour winds). I was actually asleep when it happened-woke up when power went out and I head a loud thunk (I now believe that was the decking from my neighbor's roof doing somersaults over my roof. (They lost half of their roof, wind lifted it up). Another house had back addition and garage taken out. Lots of old trees gone. Thankfully no reports of injury. The street pulled together and helped each other. I found I was not able to do much-I don't think I am fully recovered from April surgery. Anyway, I need new roof, gutters, downspouts, a couple of window screens, some fence replaced, and some skillful power washing.
Catch up more later-exhausted and heading to bed.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

❤ Edie, and all the grands! They grow up so fast.
Barbie: Likewise, I remember Haleakala when it was easy to get there for the sunrise. Went one year on Christmas Eve, and as the sun was rising a young man plunked down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend. The crowd of about 50 people assembled there all broke out in a chorus of "Joy to the World". Great memory. Two years ago, I tried to take my friend to experience the sunrise, but forgetaboutit. Totally booked. We went for sunset instead and actually caught an eclipse of the moon quite by accident.
RIP Ozzy Osborne. Stay well friends. We can do this.

Hello Ladies;
I finished a book called "The Summer We Ran" by Audrey Ingram. It was a pretty good read. I also worked on my calendar and need to send my work schedule for the last month, as I plan to work at UMMC. I got approved for my vacation in August. My friend wants me to wait, but I need some respite. Plus, I am spending so much money on the little munchkins I am falling in love with. I found some portable bath toys for them, PJs, and soft blankets. The babies are so cute, I can just eat them up. One baby I got was helicoptered in, and we had to take him to PICU to get an IV.
Then, I had to draw labs on him and catheterize him. Then the poor guy had to get an ultrasound, X-rays, and a CT scan. He was not a happy camper. Before I left, the doctors decided on surgery. Too much for a 9-month-old. I had an older kid watching out for me, because I stuck him for labs too. I waved bye to him, and then he relaxed. My toddler was upset with me because I had the wrong show on his iPad. The day nurse told me she forgot to mention that he has a fit if his Mickey Mouse show isn't on in the morning. I told her that it was an important detail and to remember it next time. These munchkins have a personality. I love kids; that is why I love keeping up with your grands. I am not ready to be a grandma until my kids get their act together. Heather, Eddie is so pretty, and she has a strong will. I can't wait to see what she will be. Allie smiles, and Delia is so sweet. Now, Delia is on the move. Tracey is a great mom. Tracey, I love the relationship you have with Michaela. She loves to hang out with you, too. I love the prom and graduation pictures too. Lisa, I hope you get to see your grands one day soon.Pip, I hope you get the lab. He would be an excellent fit for your pack.
Good night, everyone. Tomorrow is laundry day, and bedsheet change day for me. I will also work on my calendar some more.
XO,
Mo from Mississippi

just a quick check in- I will try and catch up tomorrow- 4 pages behind as of now.
Weekend went well with mom. Food program was good. I think we had about 120 families get food. Only had a few hours of sleep the night before after getting mom's late after aqua zumba and the drive up. She always naps after food program- we are up by 4AM on Saturday. I actually laid down and rested/napped an hour. Made a great dinner which she really enjoyed- salmon, pasta with shrimp, yellow squash and cucumbers from her garden. Too full for dessert. I tried to talk to her about the trust/medical power of attorney, etc. She said that was a good idea that she would call her lawyer and get them done. I was pretty sure she had them done when dad passed away.
Sunday morning she decided she didn't want me to drive her to church, she wanted to drive herself- Usually I drop her off, I go visit my aunt then go pick up mom when she is done. She was in a bit of a mood so I said that was fine. It worked out better in the long run. I got to visit with my aunt(took a cherry pie plus some of the blackberries from the ones my dad/her brother had planted-made them extra special), then I drove on up to Cloverdale and visited with my sister. She saw a post on FB and knew I was at mom's for the weekend. I didn't really want to go but did. She had me stop and get her a soda and snacks. We actually had a great visit. She is in a care home after fracturing two vertebrae and having a stroke. She is in a brace for her back and in a lot of pain still- has been over a month but the only issues from the stroke are numbness below the knee in her left leg and a bit of incontinence -hard when she has a hard time getting out of bed, getting her walker and walking to the bathroom. One odd thing is she has lost her voice for two weeks. No fever, no sore throat,
Sad story about one of her two room mates- girl is about 20 yrs old. She was sitting in the back seat of her boyfriend's car and a hit and run drunk driver ran a stop sign and hit the car broadside- she is now paralysed from just above her waist. She seems in very good spirits. They order take out and were happy with the snacks I brought because the food has a lot to be desired. My sister said after seeing Samantha and her other roommate, she sees what she is dealing with isn't really that bad. She will get better and be able to walk without a walker again. So, I got back to mom's she wasn't home- she had text to tell me she was going to Walmart. I worked in the garden a bit and was just about ready to just head home when she finally got home. I brought up the legal papers again and mentioned that I thought she had done them and she said she was sure she had and she needs to get copies for me. I was stressed about talking to her- how to get the talk started. She was fine, she said it was important, not morbid, We left things very positive. No, I didn't actually look at the paperwork like dh kept telling me I HAVE to do now, but I will be sure to do it next time. It was getting late and I needed to head home-2 1 /2 hrs later than planned
We will be stopping to see her next Tuesday as we have an appointment with the same firm she uses for dh to take care of his mom's stuff.Drank an energy drink before class last night- too strong for me I guess- didn't get to sleep until 4AM- Going to head for bed now- hope to get a bit more sleep.
Dh is laying down now but will be up in half an hour to go to work. He informed me today that today is his last shift for a while. He just decided he doesn't want to work anymore. He retired early 10yrs ago. He only works a shift and a half a week. He mentioned he was going to take a leave of absence mid Nov. through the holidays- didn't expect him to do it in July.Debbie

mom feels the same way- completely- it is very overwhelming for her, so much to do and not enough energy to do it or the want to. She has no plans on leaving the ranch and after she passes, is cremated, she will return to it and be buried next to my dad and the rest of the family that are there.

I wish the pool for class would be warm like that- We still are in the low 70's here- waiting for summer weather to show up. Hard getting out of the pool at almost 8PM and it is low 60's.
2 -
I ordered a weighted vest, ankle and wrist weights- good for strengthening bones and weight loss. Have used the vest once, need to use it again- haven't been walking since I got it. Both the xray tech and my primary doctor said it was a great idea.

Of course, we shouldn't forget Max, supporting his sister on her first day at school.
Same paper tulips on the mantlepiece now, that I bought them! Max will be escorting his little sister to big school for the first little while. They have to catch two trains. Can't wait to see the photos!!!!
Ginny - So sorry about the tornado damage. You really don't need that. Sending every good wish for speedy repairs.

Good morning my friends!
Ginny a tornado? Wow. A new roof plus, so sorry about the damage. We are so glad you are okay!
Carol sorry your back hurts.
Machka so brave to be out in the storm!
Lanette Yay for the gym! It's a mental challenge to start over with exercise, but you can do it. Athletes get hurt but persevere!
Lisa yes I followed a guy to my first college, and I left the military for my ex husband. But he followed me from Nevada to Virginia. I took a class at UNLV about 1988 in business law.
Rita love that pic of the kid and the shaggy dog!
Tina Yay for a great trip!
Barbie Yay for early morning walks! Lines to see the sunrise? Incredible.
Heather Edie and Max have grown so fast!
Rebecca Yay for the gym! Lovely pictures of Eli and Athena!
Sue Yay for rainbows!
Barbara you did it! It's all part of the journey.
Debbie sounds like a full weekend. Glad you had a positive conversation about the paperwork. DH just decided by himself to quit working? Hmph.
My sister helped with the ladder to change light bulbs yesterday. Yay! My mom left us four boxes of new light bulbs. Such a packrat.
We cleaned out my Dad's shoes and my Mom's dresser. Dad cried, but at least he won't get into her clothes. Yesterday he said he was going to sell the house and move back to his childhood home. That hurt my feelings. I try hard to make this a happy home for him, but he would dump me for a memory. He isn't rational but it hurts. I hope he forgets about it but I predict he will latch on to the idea.
May you all be happy, healthy, safe, and free!

He will remember his childhood home better than the current house. That's how memory works.
It has nothing to do with you, it just has to do with what he remembers best and where he is in time and place.
When my husband woke up from his coma and came out of post traumatic amnesia, it took me a little while to figure out where he was in time and place … eventually I was able to place him about 20 years before. Occasionally he was present, but he was often asking me questions like … "when did that business change?", "when did they pave these paths?" … and for quite a while, he didn't recognise our house even though we'd lived there for several years.

Hello, my dears,
A young woman named Dakota who does odd jobs locally for cash is supposed to be here on Sunday morning to talk to her about getting the remaining bits of siding off the eaves of the house and get the fascia boards replaced as necessary and then get it all painted. We have all the equipment and materials except paint but I didn't want to get that until it was going to be used. However, it's all ladder work, which I won't do anymore, and Corey simply doesn't have time to do. If she does it and does it well, I can get the gutters purchased and have her get those up there, too. Maybe. We'll see what she wants in terms of money to do the work on the eaves, whether she shows up when she says she will, and so on.
I did ask the guy that demolished the little house, but haven't seen him since I talked to him about it. I realized later that the reason he wanted most to do the little house work was not just the money for the job, but the materials he was able to recover… and used siding isn't material anyone wants. We'll see how it all works out. Would like to get it done so that Corey's not on a ladder that much, but we'll see if she's the right person for it.
Ginny - My stars, woman, that's a lot of damage to your house as well - glad you're OK even though your house took some damage. Sounds like your neighbors got it really badly!
Annie - I would have so much trouble with the emotional side of the whole thing with your dad. So much respect for your strength and pure stamina. I know that's not helpful, but I do hope your sister's visit is a nice break for you.
Time to get on with watering everything, etc., before the heat sets in. Then it's more work in the back bedroom and the usual houseworky stuff and such.
Have a grand day, my chicks, if it's still beginning or in progress, or hope it was a lovely Wednesday just finished for you…
Love from the hot, hot, hot Arkansas River Valley…

Ooh man I had to really wrestle with my brain this morning! I had told husband I needed to sleep for 1 hr more, I was just tired. He normally does laundry on Wednesday so I told him I would start it when I woke up. So then my brain pondered the day of course, then my bladder joined in, and then I was like Aaaack I will get up. I wasn't too far behind as I just took a warm washcloth to my face and hair like a weirdo. I had washed it yesterday in all fairness! I am now choking down coffee, trying to get ready for the day!
I need to go to the post office to mail #3 package to eldest son for the month. That kid bought stuff and I am forwarding it to him. Then get my BP meds refilled, and husband said I can get a pedicure that I had spaced out getting yesterday. Yay! My toenails were gonna shred the bedding😂, I need to tell them to really cut short this time! My nail color is still on my toe nails so that isn't too bad. I had gotten them done when I had come back from sisters.
Well its a foggy gray day on Whidbey! Onward and upward ladies!

Heather - Edie is growing into a beautiful young woman. In the blink of an eye it seems. Thank you for posting the comparison photos. Can't wait to see the "now" photos of Bea and Max.
Rita - good job on all those sit to stands. Better than the "thigh-master". They are like the "get up off the floor" exercises. That one seems like a no-brainer until a shoulder, hip, knee or back is cranky. Plus that gravity thing. 😁
Allie - so cool seeing Mike Wolfe! Glad you are enjoying your time in TN, bet it will be nice to be back home though and see the grands again.
Barbie - I gathered up my ankle weights yesterday. Several of them are slowly leaking that fine sand they are packed with and starting to fray. If I get serious about this again I'll replace them with something more sturdy.
Debbie - I think I confused myself and got your mom's POA mixed up somehow with your sis needing one. Yes, good to have a copy of your mom's. When my dad had to go to the ER we tore the house apart looking for his and finally found it. T has a copy of mine plus she knows where the will is.
Ginny - thank goodness you weren't hurt! What an experience.😫 You first few months of retirement won't be boring, but I'm sure you would have preferred something much tamer than this. Sending loads of strength and energy your way.
Annie - do you think your dad recognizes you and your sis as his daughters anymore? Or are you the gal that lives with him and takes care of him? Glad your sis helped change those light bulbs. There are so many chores around the house than really could us another pair of strong hands/arms. If any overhead lights go out, I'll have to wait for Collette or T so we can spot each other. I bet I have a bigger collection of spare light bulbs than your mom. John next door had a free "come take stuff" event for the neighbors a couple years ago. I grabbed some bulbs from his stash and added them to my stash. 😁 They don't go bad and are (or at least were) pretty expensive.
Lisa - I hope Dakota works out. How did you find her? This ladder business is not easy.
More anti-inflammatories benefits? I've noticed something that might be related to the back anti-inflammatories I'm on. My shoes are looser. I hadn't noticed any swelling in my feet prior to that but my right foot where I broke the toe and had borderline stress fracture now seems half a size smaller than the other one. I just about walk out of my Muck shoes now. I'm able to wear my old size 8.5 Keens comfortably too. I guess when I go off it in a few weeks, we'll see what's happening. Of course, this might be totally unrelated. My bod seems to be a science experiment.😁
Picked more blueberries at neighbor's this morning. Talked to her yesterday and she said "keep picking!" More ripening at Roger's too.
Make it a super day!
Lanette 😎

Good morning!
Hope it's alright for me to jump in here with an introduction. I just re-joined MFP after 9 months of Noom (and 5 years of weight gain).
I'm about to turn 59, married with 2 grown kids, live in the Colorado Mountains, and am an inveterate reader. I lost 35 pounds with Noom and would love to lose another 40. Maybe? We adopted a puppy last week and the evening walks are a big help!
Looking forward to new acquaintances!
