My name is Donna. I am 65 years old and I live in the Midwest of the US. I am 5’ 5” tall. My highest weight was 253. I would like to lose a total of about 100 pounds and have been working on it for too many years (since 2018).
I will weigh on Wednesdays, but also on the 1st and last day of every month in order to get an account for the entire month. I will adjust my goals each week (need to lose more or need to lose less) in order for the math to add up to the 30 pound loss by the end. I’m being optimistic at this point as we are just starting.

Not uncommon since I am a heart patient and it often pools around my ankles and abdomen. I have a prescribed water pill for when that happens that I will have to take today, like it or not. It makes me pee every 10 minutes for hours and hours so I guess I’m stuck at home today. Anyway, I have two birthday celebrations and a holiday in the 1st week of July. I hope it doesn’t set me back too far!

🎠🎠🎠🎠🎠 07/01 –188.8 ✅ (Trend Weight – 190.4) Well I was certainly hoping for a bigger drop than 0.2 but I guess slow progress is still progress. It was a very good dietary day filled with good choices and I worked out on the bike for 30 minutes (2 sessions of 15 minutes). Intentional exercise is something I really need to keep working in. Today is my son that lives at home and my first DGS’s birthdays. We will be going out to dinner out of town tonight. Dinner won’t be until about 7:30. I’ve been sticking to my guns and carefully choosing what I’m eating this afternoon. My son is turning 29 and my grandson 19. Let’s make July a HUGE impact on our goals! Let’s go get it, my friends. It’s ours for the taking!

Just checking in. Start weight on June 28 was 155.0. Today I am 152.0. The first few lbs are always the easiest. Hoping I do ok on the 4th of July 😬
My overall goal is 5 lbs per month so I can get back to 125 by New Year's Eve. :)

to be closer to 150, but I'm not sure I can do that because I have regained more weight than I expected over the past couple of weeks.)Ultimate Goal Weight (lbs.): 139 or below (for BMI under 25). I'm aiming to get there by New Year's Eve.
July 02: 162.8 (Going forward, I will post weigh-ins to date with scale app stats and scale picture as of the most recent weigh-in. On July 31st I will post side-by-side before/after stats and scale pic. I forgot to include my key measurements: (bust, waist, hips and "pot") but I will post them tomorrow and each week following, with final measurements on New Year's Eve.

🎠🎠🎠🎠🎠 07/02 – 190.0 ❌ (Trend Weight – 190.4) I actually didn’t do too bad during the out-to-dinner and out-of-town birthday celebration mainly held for my son who turned 29 yesterday. I didn’t do too badly at the restaurant but for the rest of the night at home….humph. To say I was like a pig in a pig’s trough wouldn’t be 100% accurate. More like a wild boar in a pig’s trough who hasn’t seen food in weeks! Anyway, I really blew it with my self-sabotage. I know that’s what it was because I continued eating even when I was so full it was trying to come back up! Disgusting, I know. That’s a true binge! I’m grateful the scale wasn’t higher. I’m already working on a much better and healthier day today which I hope will show up for me tomorrow. I'm always so disappointed in myself and my relationship with food during these times. It's a continual battle and sometimes I give in but I never give up!

Scale is up today but I had a heavy meal with alcoholic beverages late last night; so I assume I should clear most that over the next few days.
Today I declared my "Independence from Alcohol"! I've tried this before, but this time, I'm going to make it stick! Empty calories? NO nutrition? Negative impact on blood pressure and other health measurements? Expensive? Who needs it? Not me! This one small change should make consistently losing one or more pounds per week much easier. So here I go!

My name is Donna. I am 65 years old and I live in the Midwest of the US. I am 5’ 5” tall. My highest weight was 253. I would like to lose a total of about 100 pounds and have been working on it for too many years (since 2018).
I will weigh on Wednesdays, but also on the 1st and last day of every month in order to get an account for the entire month. I will adjust my goals each week (need to lose more or need to lose less) in order for the math to add up to the 30 pound loss by the end. I’m being optimistic at this point as we are just starting.

07/09 – 190.4 ❌ (Trend Weight – 190.5) A tough week which included a 4 day holiday celebration for me and family which immediately followed 2 birthdays. All excuses aside, there have been a few binges, lack of sleep, slowing exercise and lack of water. I have a lot to fix.
🎠🎠🎠🎠🎠 07/16–-191.0 ❌ (Trend Weight: 191.1) I am so excited about seeing Superman tomorrow. Very tall grandsons (age 17 & 19) have chosen Golden Corral while downstate for the movie. Such a treat for rural folks like us. My DGS who is autistic (age 9) will also be going with us along with my own adult autistic son. Young DGS has only been to the movies once but is finally able to handle the sound and large colorful graphics (I think). It is going to be fun. I’ll try to be reasonable at the buffet but I know that no matter what happens it will only be a couple of days to shake it off. Honestly, the real challenge is eating bad things for four days straight every week when DD and other DGS are here. They’ve become part of my lifestyle in their current situation and I’ve got to adapt in the healthy ways that keeps me focused on my overall health and weight goals. It’s right in front of me, I see it clearly. I’ve just got to reach harder, reach farther, touch it, then grab it up and make it my own! I have no excuses for the uptick of 0.6 in weight this week in both my scale weight and my trend weight. My only observation is that my meals were very good, my exercise and water much improved. However, my snacks at night were ridiculous. I really have made a pig of myself. I feel like a drowning person who sees a buoy in the water but the nighttime snacks just keep pushing me back, further and further away from that buoy. From saving myself. It’s sink or swim!

As a HUGE Superman fan, I must say I was pretty disappointed. I must say, though, that I loved the actors they chose to play Superman and Lois Lane.
I took 3 GC age 19, 17 and 8. I thought it needed a little more back story for new potential fans and kids. I thought it was full of actions, which is good, but maybe too much action and not enough Clark Kent.
I don't think I care to ever see it again, which is sad. I hope for something better in the future and it would be great if they use these same actors again, that was the only redeeming part IMO.

🎠🎠🎠🎠🎠 07/23 – 189.6 ✅ (Trend Weight – 189.7) I really feel like this scale weight is inaccurate because of my travel yesterday to the hospital (160 miles each way) for 7 yr old DGS’ tonsil and adenoid surgery. So much sitting and all restaurant foods. I reached as low as 186.8 this week just prior to the travel. I don’t think I gained nearly 3 pounds overnight so a lot of this is probably water weight. A girl can hope……. Be Gone With You Treacherous Sodium-Induced Fluid Retention!!!! 👣

Hello! 👋 I have just come back to MFP after at least a year away (been on and off of here for years, and really value the community). I've gained some weight since Christmas and still haven't lost it, and I wanted to come find a challenge group that had the end date of late December, and thought this is perfect!

I am a huge Superman fan. I grew up with Christopher Reeves as Superman and I loved those movies. I still plan on seeing this, but I will probably be like you.. disappointed. I was disappointed in the newer Raiders of the Lost Ark movies. Nothing can beat the first one. It was magical.

But at the doctors office with clothing on I was 169 lbs.
I am just maintaining at this weights for 6 months. I am going to the doctor for a physical next month and I will discuss this with him.
Little story: I went to the doctor recently for a problem, and she spoke to me abut my weight and said do you need a nutritionist? I said No thanks, because I know what I should be doing, but I just don't.
She couldn't understand that. She is probably very disciplined. I said I just go in "panic mode" when I am overstressed or anxious, so I eat snacks or drink wine, and she seemed puzzled by my comments. (I don't think she deals with problems that way.) She told me about being mindful and think before I eat. Think it through…Of course, she is right, but I obviously don't think like her or I'd be thin, too. I'm way too emotional. I feed my anxiety and stress which is not a good choice. Hopefully one day I can be more mindful.

🎠🎠🎠🎠🎠 07/30 –186.2 ✅ (Trend Weight: 188.0) I gained 0.8 gained overnight. 1.2 gained in 48 hours. And all of it just normal fluctuations as I’ve followed plan and exercised too. Yesterday I ate 1196 calories and 77 carbs, both lower than goal. Water consumption has been iffy but finally got 6 full hours of sleep last night and it was heavenly! No TMI today so that is probably a contributing factor to the gain. I’m traveling today so lunch will be in the city. That is always a set-back. We’ll see how I feel about weighing tomorrow. I don’t need to jump into the fire to know that it’s hot! And I don’t want to end the month on a temporary travel weight after one restaurant meal. If I decide not to weigh, I’ll come back the following day and do so to end the month properly and more accurately. I’m still down from last weeks weight by 3.4 lbs and that is wonderful. It won’t be like that every week!

My name is Donna. I am 65 years old and I live in the Midwest of the US. I am 5’ 5” tall. My highest weight was 253. I would like to lose a total of about 100 pounds and have been working on it for too many years (since 2018).
I will weigh on Wednesdays, but also on the 1st and last day of every month in order to get an account for the entire month. I will adjust my goals each week (need to lose more or need to lose less) in order for the math to add up to the 30 pound loss by the end. I’m being optimistic at this point as we are just starting.

07/30 –186.2 ✅ (Trend Weight: 188.0) I gained 0.8 gained overnight. 1.2 gained in 48 hours. And all of it just normal fluctuations as I’ve followed plan and exercised too. Yesterday I ate 1196 calories and 77 carbs, both lower than goal. Water consumption has been iffy but finally got 6 full hours of sleep last night and it was heavenly! No TMI today so that is probably a contributing factor to the gain. I’m traveling today so lunch will be in the city. That is always a set-back. We’ll see how I feel about weighing tomorrow. I don’t need to jump into the fire to know that it’s hot! And I don’t want to end the month on a temporary travel weight after one restaurant meal. If I decide not to weigh, I’ll come back the following day and do so to end the month properly and more accurately. I’m still down from last weeks weight by 3.4 lbs and that is wonderful. It won’t be like that every week!
🎠🎠🎠🎠🎠 07/31 – 188.8 ❌ (Trend Weight – 188.1) What a disappointing weight after a very long day of travel. All the sitting and restaurant food always hits me hard! I hate ending the month like this when, with due diligence, the weight will probably swing back down to where it has been in just a matter of days! Well, I can only hope, right? I guess it is what it is….. My lowest weight this past week was 185.2 so it is a distinct possibility that I would have made goal. I am sad about that. I will need to adjust my goals as I go so that the math adds up and I reach my 30 lb loss by New Year’s eve. Every month that’s off just makes the rest of the year harder. I will not stop aiming for that 30 pounds until it becomes mathematically impossible! I’m a Taurus so I am a stubborn bull! See you all for the August attempts (and successes!) Staying positive. I am still down 6.6 lbs since the start of the challenge so I am grateful.
