Let's lose 20-30 lbs. by New Year's Eve, 2025!

Hi, and Welcome! I'm in a few other challenges, but I'd like to start a new one, beginning Wednesday, May 28th, 31 weeks until New Year's Eve. Since I am now within 20-30 lbs. of my desired weight goal (to get below 25.0 BMI), I thought it would be good to start a new challenge that could help me to achieve my goal by 2026! This would also tie in to a new program I joined called "The Path to Lifestyle Change", which starts up on May 28th. More about the program here:
How about YOU? Are you also within 20-30 lbs. of your own, personal goal by the end of the year? No matter where you are on your journey, please feel free to jump in anytime. I will be weighing in on Wednesdays, but feel free to jump in wherever you are and choose you own, preferred weigh-in day. I will aim towards averaging a loss of 1-2 lbs. per week.
I will post my initial weight, scale app stats and main measurements beginning this Wednesday. This is strictly optional. The only rules are to never give up, be kind and stay positive! Very best wishes! πΉπποΈ

I'm in too! I can traverse both challenges I am on. Love the support! I would be at a perfect weight for me if I lose 20 pounds by NYE.
One of my main issues is stress management. I have been a stress eater and drinker. I panic and then try to regulate my feelings with food and drink. I know my patterns. But it is hard to self-regulate when I am thinking with my "fight or flight" part of the brain- the amygdala. I have always been anxious but never on meds for that. I have to really learn to self regulate and try to take a few moments to think things through instead of react with my normal instincts.
That was probably too much information about me. But like I said a few times, when I type MFP posts, it's probably more like journaling. Self reflection.

Hi everyone,
Here are my stats from Wednesday, May 20th
Key measurements taken:
B: 41.0"/W: 38.5"/H: 40.5/P: 45.0"
My weight has actually gone UP since then! Time to strengthen my resolve!
I will report weight updates every Wednesday going forward to match to with weigh-ins for the Path to Lifestyle Change program I joined on May 28th.
Today is June 1st. I'm also giving up alcohol 100% (again). Like @RubyRed427, I am also a stress eater and drinker. I need to work on alternate ways to calm down. Increased activity should help.

They leave at 7:00 pm but are with me every week from Thursday until Sunday evening due to her job (and my babysitting). Ughβ¦.. She is my 100 lb soaking wet size triple zero daughter that is a HUGE foodie. Constantly eating little bites of everything ALL THE TIME. She brings in a LOT of food (carries TOTES full everywhere she goes!). I need a BACKBONE!

06/01 β 192.8 β (Trend Weight β 193.9) Pizza with DD, DGS and DS last night. Muffin top today. Carb bloat. Will try to keep things clean and at a minimal today. They leave at 7:00 pm but are with me every week from Thursday until Sunday evening due to her job (and my babysitting). Ughβ¦.. She is my 100 lb soaking wet size triple zero daughter that is a HUGE foodie. Constantly eating little bites of everything ALL THE TIME. She brings in a LOT of food (carries TOTES full everywhere she goes!). I need a BACKBONE!
πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ06/04 β192.0 β - (Trend Weight: ???) Well, the scale took a day but it caught up with some ice cream sandwiches from night before last (yes, plural). The fiddler always insists on his pay and heβs a greedy little bast##d. Anyway, I could not get my trend weight today because I transferred the weight from my smart scale to my fitbit app incorrectly as 92 lbs instead of 192 pounds. Canβt seem to get it to recognize the change even with restarting computer, restarting phone etc. I hope it will eventually adjust today. If not, I hope it will not mess up the future trends as tomorrows weight will look like a 100 pound increase overnight! Ah, technology was to make life easier, right? My weight is still down from last weigh-in so thatβs a good thing but I know I can do better at snack time. Meals have been perfect. Night time snacks are the Enemy right now.

06/04-192.0 β - (Trend Weight - 193.3) I finally did manage to get my trend weight today afterall by figuring out how to delete it in my fitbit so Iβve now posted it here. My weight is still down from last weigh-in so thatβs a good thing but I know I can do better at snack time. Meals have been compliant. Night time snacks are the Enemy right now. I do continue to trend down and that leaves me hopeful and makes me feel as if my body has faith in me. I wonβt let it down!
πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ06/11β191.2 β (Trend Weight β 192.2) Down almost another pound and over a pound in the trend weight this week and Iβm very grateful for that. However, making goal is going to be damn near impossible and goal is only a 2.4 lb loss for June. Gosh, this is hard! I think water, incorporating more planned, intention REAL exercise (and not just movement) and resisting the snack monsters at night is key for me. Those are all goals I really need to work on. BTW, due to the length of this challenge, I LOVE that we will be able to see ourselves and our efforts LONG TERM. Patterns, what has helped vs what has hurt, how small changes have helped, how exercise affects us, how restaurant meals, traveling, hormones, bouts of depression and how support from others make a difference. This challenge is offering the BIG PICTURE. I hope others will join and share their stories and their journeys.

Hello everyone,
So, this Wednesday will be June 18th, which is 28 weeks until New Year's Eve. I'm sure that if I stick to my program from now until the end of this year I should definitely still be able to lose 20-30 lbs. and get my BMI below 25 by the time we ring in 2026.
My birthday is August 18th; so I hope I can take off about 10 lbs. over the period beginning June 18th (8 weeks and five days) so I can hopefully celebrate turning age 67 feeling lighter and healthier.
I will refresh my stats beginning Wednesday.

πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπβDay 35β06/18β DNW π - (Trend Weight: DNW) I just couldnβt sleep last night. I finally fell off about 8:00 this morning and woke at noon hitting the floor running as we were going out of town to see DGS who is home now recovering from the surgery. Did shopping and dinner out while out of town also so tomorrowβs weight will be up. I will likely wait until day after tomorrow to weigh as tomorrowβs will be a disaster after travel and restaurant and (hopefully) not a true reflection of where I am. Iβm honestly too tired to think about it all tonight, but I will adjust and report the numbers in the days upcoming.

It's hard to get my steps on due to the plantar fasciitis but I'm trying.
I'm also doing a Solstice-to-Solstice alcohol-FREE challenge.
My weight was 161.8 last I checked, but I will resume posting fresh stats on Wednesdays, my current, regular weigh-in day.πΉ

Hi again,
So, my next weigh-in day is Wednesday, June 25th, the day before my annual physical. I pledged to my doctor at my last visit on March 17th that I would lose at least 10 pounds by 6/26. Well, that's not happening, but maybe I'll get back down to 159, which was my weight at my March 17th visit.
I'll post my stats and key measurements this Wednesday - just like starting over with a fresh "reset". It will be interesting to see how my weight at home compares with my doctor's scale.

@Walela617 Have you tried Vionic Shoes. After I received that diagnosis about 15 years ago, they were recommended by my doctor and nearly all of my walking shoes are that brand now. They also make the brand orthofeet. They are expensive but they come in all styles, even sandals and house shoes! All colors too. You can google or find on amazon as well. They are worth every penny and solve the pain problems. They feel a little lumpy for a hot minute but put your feet in the right position throughout your whole foot. This also helps to line up your ankles, knees and hips which we don't often realize are also affected. Misalignment can cause so many problems, even heel spurs!

Thanks, Donna @deepwoodslady! I will look into those shoes. Right now I'm awaiting delivery for special insoles, called, "Stepprs" which has great reviews and is supposed to be good for flat feet and plantar fasciitis, both of which I have. I also have bunions and some toes that overlap each other, as well as nail fungus. (A "foot model" I'm NOT!) I know that if I lose at least 10 lbs. that should help too. I'm sure because whenever I have to carry a lot while walking (Sometimes up to 20 lbs.), the pain is much worse.
"Vionic". Interesting. (I have heard of Orthofeet.) I also tend to "toe in' when I walk. I've even tripped myself on occasion. I'm hoping to improve that also.
It's supposed to be rainy and 90's in Boston today/ over 100Β° on Tuesday!

I haven't heard of Stepprs insoles but hopefully they will be just the thing to help. It sounds like there are a lot of different problems there. Hopefully something will help line the feet and toes up for you. As far as the fungus goes, my doctor recommended putting Vicks Vapor Rub on my toe nails for that. He said it was cheaper and usually much more effective than the actual toe fungus meds and pens. Just throwing that out there in case you'd like to try.
95 in Northern Michigan today with a heat index of about 106 degrees. I have a brand new Air Conditioner system for my furnace but it's sitting in my garage waiting for the HVAC people to show up. I've been waiting since March (long before the hot weather). This morning I already feel like a wrung out wet rag. A little weak from the heat too. It was also very hot yesterday and my thick Michigan skin just isn't used to these kinds of temps! Hopefully you can stay cool and I will try to do the same!

@Walela617 I'm sorry, it's not called Orthofeet, It's Orthoheel. I believe they no longer make them, changing their name to Vionic because the name was too confusing. People thought it would only help heels. There are still pair floating around on places like Poshmark etc.

I'm a little late to the party, but I'll join. I'm 4 months post partum and looking to lose exactly 30 lbs to get to 125 (I'm currently 155 lbs exactly). Hoping to get there by New Year's Eve so I can shop around and get into a nice bridesmaid dress for my sister's wedding next spring/early summer.

Not uncommon since I am a heart patient and it often pools around my ankles and abdomen. I have a prescribed water pill for when that happens that I will have to take today, like it or not. It makes me pee every 10 minutes for hours and hours so I guess Iβm stuck at home today. Anyway, I have two birthday celebrations and a holiday in the 1st week of July. I hope it doesnβt set me back too far!
