Happy birthday Kim
Hope you have a wonderful birthday weekend1 -
Heather: That must have been such a worry. And such a shame for that small community to lose the vineyards that they depend on.
Rebecca: I hope the ginger/peppermint keeps working.
We have a wet front moving through this morning, but a high front is pushing it north, so next week should be relatively dry. Today I will do my usual local shopping run for fresh produce after I have put the laundry away.Tomorrow we are going to visit DED to say goodbye to granddaughter who is flying back to Oxford on Monday after a 10 day break here.

Kim: Happy Birthday
Tracey: The scrapbook will be wonderful for you to enjoy and also leave to your heirs.
Rebecca: I hope the issues with the med gets resolved. I had to lower my dose on the GLP-1 for awhile,
Ginny: My sympathy on the loss of Zombu.
Carol: Wow! Varsity the first year! Congrats!
Heather: Any idea what triggered the fire? Has there been a drought? 30 homes: it is a lot for me to take in. I hope the village is able to recover.
Machka: I have never heard of silver amalgam. It sounds horrible.
Lisa: Pleased the VA responded quickly to you.
Lanette: Let us know how the hummus turns out! I can't purchase it..because I can not control my portions! I eat the entire container!
MargaretTurk: I shopped often at The Dress Barn. For some reason, I have not done as well with Kohls.
I read my writing to a writing group. This was an introduction to a book I started in 2017, I think it would be a mystery for young adults. I am hoping to work on this more! I have several fiction books going Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine is for book group. Dovetail is another book, and a new book: The Emperor of Gladness. The author of this last book is coming to town I think.
For non-fiction I downloaded The History of Philosophy. I have never had a philosophy course. This is suppose to be for a lay person. Right now though the book is discussing philosophy and math. Somewhat over my head!
I am still doing the meditation by zoom at 6:30 on the week days!
I finally had my overdue colonoscopy. 5 polyps. Still waiting on the pathology report.
And the spontaneous cruise I signed up for. I am having trouble getting into the Norwegian Account….long story. But I really want to see the excursions, so I can look forward to them. Also I don't know what clothes to bring. I think there are 11 of us going and the travel agent will have a zoom meeting with us soon.
The temperature dropped so I am back to cutting my grass! Which I actually enjoy..when it is not 90 plus degrees!
Best,
Rosemarie from GA

Machka: I have never heard of silver amalgam. It sounds horrible.
Rosemarie — do you have a silver-coloured filling in any of your teeth? That's silver amalgam. It's been the go-to filling material for 150 years (according to Google).
But more recently, they've started to use a better composite filling which can be tinted the colour of the tooth. It's not quite as strong as the old silver amalgam fillings but that's probably better too.

Rosemarie Yes Kohl's is hit and miss.

Sue ~ Congrats on getting your Y exercise in.
Rosemarie ~ Thanks for checking in! Going on a cruise sounds exciting. And, hope your interest in writing flourishes.
Rebecca ~ Glad you are using common sense regarding your eating. From what you are saying, you are recognizing a course that suits you.
Barbara ~ Love Tumble's Forest. That fluffy hair waving in the breeze is cute.

Working in pay booth today. only 3 more weekends after this one. No more after Labor Day. I wonder if the Ranger Supervisor will up my Visitor Center hours after this. I am not volunteering!
It's been over 100 degrees every day this week. Can't do anything outside. Gets boring. Heat making me sleepy too. Can't wait for fall to kick in. It feels like fall in the morning when I walk Lucy, but that heats up quickly!
Thought for today:
I’m reading a book about anti-gravity.
It’s impossible to put down.

Hey, kids,
Well, yesterday's tomato roasting turned out - I'm learning to leave it in the oven for a few hours afterward, and the dropping temperature just keeps caramelizing the tomatoes. They smelled amazing… Corey will be canning those today, as well as the ones that I made a week ago, which have been sitting in the fridge waiting for him to find the time.
I'll be able to bag up the ginger shortly, as well, as 24 hours in the dehydrator has shriveled it into tiny ginger nuggets. We don't candy ginger - neither of us see the purpose in adding calories to it. He'll use it in dishes or sauces, or make more ginger beer. He's got a couple gallons fermenting on the counter of lemon ginger beer as I write this.
Also got three 25-gram bags of basil into the freezer for sauces this winter. I just pull the leaves off the stems and put them into freezer bags with enough for one night's cookery. Kept enough out to put on the pizza we plan to make this evening.
Probably Sam's Club this morning once he's moving - he's just got his last cup of coffee from the pot, so it shouldn't be too long. And the basil reminds me, I need to put pecans on the list for Sam's - I can get two pounds there for half the price of Walmart or any grocery store. They freeze really well, so I don't have to use them quickly.
I've gone through my list to see whether Walmart is cheaper on any of the things we want to pick up, and Sam's beats them on everything, whether it's brand name or not. So I should get back the price of that membership on the first trip, basically.
It may not sound like much, but it was important to me - I wouldn't have spent $25 for a membership without deciding whether it was worth it. In fact, I just cancelled my Amazon Prime membership. $139 I don't need to spend, because it ends up being $200+ for all the add-ons.
It will still run out the current membership, which isn't up until mid-October, so that gives them a couple more months to bug me about re-upping. There are still a couple things I'm going to buy from Amazon, because it's still the only place I can get some of what I need, like the flex tape I wear on my knees 24-7. But none of it means I need to have Prime, as well.
OK, done rattling - time to go clean up enough to let other people actually see me. 😂
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa in AR

I've looked again at my cupboard. I've read the instructions again. I've thought about it.
That's as far as I've got. 🤣
It will get done.
I'm thinking of doing my roots tomorrow. That would mean I could get another one in just before the cruise. It's not desperate at the moment, but the timing is right. I'm also trying to pace the trimming. Now would work, but it doesn't really need it, so I might wait and just have one nearer the cruise. I wish I could cut my own hair! I've been dying it successfully for years, but cutting defeats me. If I had curly hair I would give it a go, but mine is so straight.
I was going to get out of the house today, but I'm drinking so much water to ward off a recurrence of the UTI, that I wouldn't feel comfortable. It's at bay for the moment, but hovering. Definitely can't let myself get thirsty.
Had a text from Edie today from what looks like her own phone. I think it's a dumb phone though, as it was a text, not a WhatsApp. I know her mum is very concerned about smartphones. She restricts the kids' access to the Internet. This will be Edie's first phone, in preparation for big school. She will have to travel by public transport, so needs some form of communication for emergencies. She was thanking us for having her yesterday. 😍💞💟
Polish sausage, cabbage, and sauerkraut for dinner. I've prepared the base with a few potatoes in the IP. The finishing off takes 1 minute of pressure time. We don't have it often, but it's delicious. With wholegrain mustard. Then we will settle down for a double portion of Joan Hickson this evening. Heaven!

Rosemarie - I'm proud of you being so outgoing and adventuresome. Your travel, book club, upcoming cruise sound great - being around people, seeing new sights.
Rita - hope you are feeling better. That old fella in the park that passed away a while back - what became of his trailer and possessions? As I recall, he didn't have any relatives close by.
Barbara - so neat seeing Tumble in action. Beautiful dog, gorgeous coat.
Hummus - I haven't made any yet but still in the future plan. Walmart has their Marketside brand, which is quite a bit less expensive and to me, just as good as Sabra. Safeway brand is OK too. If I count out 7 baby carrots and use the hummus as a dip, that restricts my consumption. Most of the time, lol.
It's 8 am and I've already baked a little pork roast - wanted to get it done while it's still cool and I have the kitchen windows open. That will probably be the extent of my cooking today, may throw together a bean salad for lunch. High will likely be 85F.
Working off the Chromebook this morning - I've been giving my Dell laptop some heavy use this past year and don't really turn it off much unless there's an update, just let it sleep overnight. Probably not good. Got out the canned air and blew dust off the vents. It's been getting warm so maybe that's part of the problem. I always use it on a table. Anyhow want to extend its life, it's my main spreadsheet machine.
Learning more about Chromebook today. It's actually pretty user friendly. It's been on the shelf for months. Still at 100% battery life after all those months.😁

Hello my friends!
I had an off week. I had that short night a week ago, then I was tired and quit exercising and got into the sugar. Not a crisis but I felt lousy. Today I had an excellent energizing session with my friend K so here I am, reviving my routine, starting with my MFP check in. Yay!
Heather Wow that fire damage is horrible!
Lisa Yay for thyroid answers!
Flea hope your DH finds a rewarding job!
Rebecca Yay for the peppermint wash!
Margaret Yay for better sleep and less bruising!
Michele it's natural to have some trial and error as you negotiate sharing a kitchen.
Kim happy birthday!
Carol wow big dermatologist visit! Yay for self care!
Okay now I'm going to stop beating myself up over things I missed and get to work! I need to bike and row. I also need to do my application for my writing group.
Have a great day! May you all be happy, healthy, safe, and free!

WHAT IS THE DEAL with all of these guys friend requests again?!? I thought MFP had gotten ahold of this situation and silenced these fools! I got three just today. I am so tired of these idiots thinking this is some sort of freakin' dating site!
Okay, I'm done.
Thanks for listening.
Have a great weekend.
Love and Blessings.

😀 I went to Costco this morning at the same time I've been going on Saturdays for years and found out that they have changed their hours. The last time I went was in May so I didn't know about the change that began June 30, When I headed into the store the man at the door told me that only Executive members could come in that early and I'd have to wait another 20 minutes. He said that if was an emergency like the pharmacy, I could go in right away, but telling the truth is one of my important values so I sat patiently by the door. Apparently he took pity on me and let me come in cautioning me that I should wait until after the regular opening time to get in line to check out. I was so grateful for his kindness. I don't like leaving Annie in the car for too long in that busy parking lot. I got everything on my list and nothing that I hadn't planned. Annie is taking her nap on the back of the couch now.
😀 Rosemarie, congrats to you for all the new stuff you're trying.
😁 Lisa, I just bought pecans at Costco. I ran out a week ago and bought some from the grocery store at more than twice the price. I eat some every day as one of my snacks so convenience was more important than price. I order a lot from Amazon because I don't shop in stores and they carry a lot of things I want. When Jake first got us a Costco membership, I was convinced that it didn't save us money so I decided to consider it "recreation" and just enjoyed the shopping. Now that I'm alone, I'm sure that it isn't saving me money, but their gas station is roomy and convenient and they have a few products that I like. Saving money is a high value for me, but simplicity and convenience follow close after.
😀 Annie, good for you, getting back on track after a brief detour. There is no point in beating yourself up over straying a bit.
😀 Barbara, what a great video of Tumble. What a sweet dog.
😥 No ripe tomatoes the last two days but lots of green ones, so I expect that one day soon, I'll have enough for me and all my neighbours.
🦕 Annie has already opened her new toy from yesterday and pulled out all three squeakers.

Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD,
I will use that plastic wrap trick on my yogurt to extend the life of my container.👍🏼 Thanks!
I am finding much relief these days, with the peppermint tablets. I don't know if I should be taking them daily or if I should take it when symptoms happen. My rule of thinking is that the peppermint oil components will help daily with my digestion process. I will give it a week or so. I don't see the doctor until 22nd of next month for an evaluation on things. I think I will have a lot to chat about with him. I also need to get on some sort of regiment for acid reflex at night. I am burping a lot! Its also one of the side effects of Zepbound.
May Scottie dog have a sleepover tonight? I got his favorite dog biscuits an everything!

I am on 5 mg dose, but I seem to be acclimating ok. I need to realize that my (bm schedule) is definitely slowed and I don't need to be so worried if I don't go every day. I am still on a downward trend weight wise so 5 mg seems to be working.

Lanette-I’ve made hummus many times. It’s one of my go-tos when guests come as I always have the ingredients. Use canned beans. Drain them, but reserve the juice for thinning if needed. I think the food processor is the key.
Mo-The busses are maybe slightly better now, only because they added “express” routes. To get downtown, which is about 6 miles, we walk 1 mile to the stop, take the express bus for 25 mins and usually have to walk at least half mile to our destination. So, not much better.
Heather-so sorry to hear of your step daughter. Glad she’s OK.
Happy birthday, Kim.Glad you’re feeling better, Rebecca.

Well THAT was a mistake. Took Mooch with me to pick up D and go to the Pirates of the Pacific Festival. Too many people. TOO HOT. Quick scan of the booths, found a seat in the shade on the concrete (cooler for Mooch than the asphalt), sat, drank an iced mocha and chatted with D ‘til her DH arrived, then home fast as I could. Feeling a little nauseated, headachy and shaky, not sure if it’s the heat, the caffeine or both. The upside is that I’m not in the least bit hungry… ;}
Barbie, thank you for recommending Burkeman’s Meditations for Mortals. I’m only on day 4 but already can feel the fatal perfectionism weakening its choking grasp. Wow. Wouldn’t have believed it possible.
@hera1065 Sharon, that little bell notification drove me nuts so I turned off almost all notifications in my iPhone’s Settings. That way I can check in with the community when I have time to scan, or read and respond. ((hugs))
Sue “chair yoga followed by water exercise”? I’d be tired too. That’s why I’m so glad I quit Classic Fit classes on the same day as Line Dancing. Chair Yoga on alternate days works much better for me.
Rosemarie Brava for getting that overdue colonoscopy. Praying the polyps were all benign.
Lisa does that emoji mean you’ve been painting? Hope recreationally not home maintenance-wise…
Carol, yah it is cute, but it also is Velcro, brings in all the fir cones and needles she passes by ;{
Rita I could not survive your weather. (gentle glancing light hugs not held at all)
Heather “double portion of Joan Hickson” I’m jealous!
Lanette, the computer guy who sold me Joe’s new-to-him windows laptop said “Don’t turn it off, just close the cover. It will sleep but also get needed updates. Will save start up time.” So hard not to start/shutdown, that habit is so very ingrained in me, but not, fortunately, in Joe.
Annie welcome back to your healthy routine!
Carla such a nuisance to reject reject reject, but that’s what to do…
Rebecca, you’re spoiling Scotty! ;) Think no harm to take peppermint daily for a trial period to prevent the miseries…
Allie hope the APRN has good recommendations. You must be so weary of feeling sick.
Tina aha, that may have been my issue, no food processor!

9-Thank all you wise wonderful women on this thread. When I’m missing my BFF, I can turn to you all.OMG room progress – Keyboard still clear! Likewise worktable, but just barely after big scramble to find box for sending old newspapers to K.
Still feeling punky so headed back to bed. Will get up later and make cucumber salad (skipping the marinated green beans) for fellowship. Not perfect but good enough!
Later, lighter, lovelies!
Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD
August focus: 5 minutes just looking and thinking about the OMG room. Really.
2025: Chose NOW: to move more than yesterday (see action plan), fuel better than yesterday (hold that after dinner sweet down to two pieces of dark chocolate max), open heart and mind before mouth4 -
Pismo was crowded today. Ethel did great, no reaction from her. Took her inside a tourist shop without any issues. Took her to get her 1st taste of yogurt.

Today I waited a bit long to eat something. As I was preparing some musubi's I was light headed, and jittery. The 11 am protein iced coffee shake deal was kicking in, me thinks! Also sipped on regular coffee too. Aack! My musubi was just white rice, two thin slices of fried low sodium spam cooked in teriyaki sauce made into two bars using a plastic wrap lined empty spam container. Then I wrap the bar in nori seaweed. I let them sit wrapped in plastic wrap so the nori molds to the rice a bit. It was delightful.
Tonight will be some yogurt, granola and some peach slices drizzled with honey. Making French toast and sausage links for husband.
Sipping a Sparkling Ice grapefruit drink.

'Meditations for Mortals' is on the UK Kindle store right now for 99p. I bought it. It never hurts to revisit wise ideas. 🤗 Don't know about the US site, but worth a look. At that price!
I think I might walk down to the sea this morning as a moving meditation. 😊

I did get down to the sea, before 9 am. An excellent coffee at the café. So lovely to hear the sound of the waves on the pebbles again. I haven't been down here for months.
I walked on a bit further to look at the new sports hub, and café. Then sat for a while, observing these three women friends paddleboarding.
Time to go home on the shady side of the street. Getting warm, and crowded. The joggers were coming out in force.
Saw this sweet little garden in the street on my route home.
About a mile and a half in all. My left leg could feel it, but I was OK.

Barbara — I shut down my work laptop because IT requests that we do at least once a week or so.
But at home, I rarely shut down so that the upgrades will happen. Occasionally the upgrades will shut down and restart my laptop for me.
Rosemarie — you're so busy!!
Carla — the male friend requests are bots. Delete them! I rarely even look at the friend requests - just occasionally to delete any I might have.
But once I changed my avatar to me in my fencing outfit, I stopped receiving the bot requests. From the sounds of things, the bot software looks for avatars that appear to be anything remotely female to see who they can sucker in.
