Had to cancel my PT appointment yesterday - the vertigo really sat me down. It wasn't that I was scared of driving - the vertigo honestly doesn't bother me when I'm driving. It was the idea of taking a shower when I was feeling that dizzy and sick.
But after I had canceled it, I decided to risk the Epley Maneuver once more, and it actually did quite a bit of good this time. You really do just have to keep repeating it. I'll probably try it one more time today to see if I can finish off the lingering, but much diminished vertigo. Still need to get in the shower, though!
Have you asked your PT if they can do it for you?
We've had our PT do the Epley Manoeuvre on my husband.

Heather ~ Yes, I could write down some memories but must say that most of them revolve around my two dysfunctional parents where peace did not reign.
We suffered an A1 scam yesterday. Husband answered a phone call that sounded just like our 49 yr old son talking. He said he had been in a bad accident, was arrested, and we would get a call from a lawyer. The call came and my DH spent a lot of time talking to this person who persuaded him to send bail money through crypto at a certain store that accepted such payments. All I can say is that we are STUPID!!!!! Found out that son had been at work all day! He finally found out what was going on around 4 PM and could not believe that we had not called him. We will be filing a police report today but think there is no way we will get the money back.

New here. Been on so many diets in my life and sick of it. My focus now is to be the healthiest me I can be. Hip replacement 4 months ago so exercise is essential and I'm sure my new hip would appreciate less weight on it. Day #1 in the books and did well. On to day#2. Look forward to getting to know you all

Tracey and Pip, your creativity amazes me! Both of your projects are wonderful!

Carol - so sorry your DH got roped in on the scam. The scammers are so clever these days, even professionals and business owners get taken.
Something happened to me a couple days ago. Not that bad and fixable, but still.
An ad came up in my Facebook feed for a sweater on sale at Nordstrom Rack. So I clicked on the ad and placed an order for the sweater. A minute after I placed the order, I got a notification that I'd made an "international" purchase from some company I'd never heard of. Yikes!
I went back to the website and read through their contact information, it said the order can be cancelled if it hasn't shipped yet, send an email to them. Of course it was a bizarre email address, not Nordstrom. I did and the email bounced back as undeliverable.😣
I immediately contacted Chase Visa customer service and the representative was very kind and said their customers run into this a lot with these fake ads. He said I probably either won't get the order or what I do get will be shoddy. He said give it a week or two and see if they make good and if not, call them back and they'll take care of it.
My lesson - next time go to the store's website directly and do a search for a local store, 1-800 customer service phone number, etc.
I wish Facebook would vet their ads for potential fraud. The FB feed on my laptop is easily half advertisements. But on my Fire tablet, hardly any.
Just something to be aware of here.

Use the Feeds on FB ... fewer ads.
Not the Newsfeed, but if you look in the left sidebar (laptop) or click your profile pic (phone), you'll see the word Feeds. Use that. It has 4 sections: your friends, your groups, your liked pages, and your favourites which you can set up as people or pages.
Feeds does have some ads but not as many.
Also use AdBocker.
And treat all FB ads as bad. I don't trust any of them.
I could continue with more advice on how to customise FB ads, but I am going to bed now. And I am pretty sure I have posted all this before.

Allie, I went to the doc yesterday and told her about my GERD and how I'm treating it. Mine is part of the type of colitis I have. I use Prevacid Complete that I get at Sam's. It works for me but only can take 2 a day. I find 1 to work very well and I save the second for in case it comes back at night. I had to get up last night with GERD to take on. Maybe try it so you can get some relief before you get to the APRN? I am also getting tested for an infection, for a different issue. But for me, my Gastro said to keep doing what I'm doing Prevacid, Gas-X, and my Budesonide 9MG. I hope they find a better solution for you. Nexium no longer works for me and you are only supposed to take that for 2 weeks. For you, it sounds like all the meds you are on could be causing GERD. The problem with GERD is that there is no real cure, just dealing with the symptoms. I hope its better for you.

Carol … so sorry you were the victim of a scam. My parents received a similar call a few years ago and it was very difficult for them at the time to discern whether it was real or not. Don't beat yourselves up too badly.
Heather … love John's photos of the sunflowers! My husband and I celebrated our anniversary yesterday by traveling to a sunflower farm. It was SO hot! Thankfully, the farm had many places to sit in the shade and enjoy the farm. I may or may not have gotten stuck on a saddled steel drum "horse" that was designed for children, but that's another story…

One thing I have learned about scammers is they prey on your emotions. So if you get an upsetting call, text, social media feed… Stop, breathe, and verify the source first.
If they ask for gift cards or crypto hang up.
If I do not recognize a number I do not answer the call. My phones list the number who is calling.
I try to go to a companies website and then read the reviews. Reviews you have to be skeptical of too because they are being generated by AI too!
I will only post and share my own photos on social media and am careful at that because I know once I put them out there they can be copied.
I am involved with a group with my church writing poetry around grief. This week she wanted us to notice our senses. I ended up writing a poem about the Tibetian Temple Recreation at the Minneapolis Museum of Art. All my senses sprung to life in that space. I am adding poetry to my creative endeavors because I enjoy the challenge of painting with words.

As I mentioned to Allie, I am going for bloodwork and 'other' test later today. The doc is checking for an infection. Other than that, she said I managed to calm the issue down and it all was from my Colitis showing its face again to remind me it is still there. After a long time in remission, it is rearing its ugly head to remind me it will never go away. So, if no infection, Gas-X, Prevacid Complete, and 9 MG (max) of budesonide will be my new routine. {sigh}.
Supposed to work at Visitor Center to make up for yesterday, but I'm not going to. I do have to go feed my friend's calf a bottle and let her dogs out for a while. They left yesterday for an Alaskan cruise and have me taking care of some of their animals. Their son will take care of the 50 head of cattle (thank you so much!!) but I get to feed the calf a bottle and make sure she has hay and feed for in between. They are trying to wean her. So fun to feed her the bottle! I'll get pictures at some point.
Thought for Today:
Why did the cow become an astronaut?
Because it wanted to see the moooon!

Carol - I'm SO sorry you and your DH got scammed. Don't take this wrong, but I'm kinda glad your DH was part of it. There is a tendency for those we love to say "How could you fall for that?" implying they would never have done it. Not being alone in that fall is much less devastating. Small comfort right now, I know.
Pam - I'm assuming with @rosenberrypam as a username, you might prefer to be called Pam, but please do come back, let us know what you'd like to be called and about where you're from. Helps us keep each other straight - if you get in the habit of adding that to the end of each post for a while, we'll soon to get to know you. We've got people with two hip replacements, as well as more than one knee replacement in the crowd. Relax, step into any conversation you want to in this thread, and keep coming back! The only things we stay away from are religion and politics. The rest of our lives is fair game, as we know that getting and keeping our health requires everything about your life, not just exercise and diet. Glad you're here!
Beth - I want to know so badly about the steel drum horse, but I will let you blush about it in peace. 😂 I really do love a story, though.
Finished up the piece I was working on, and am leaving it to sit before I edit it into submission and post it. Haven't said much about where I'm posting because I very much DO talk about religion, politics and anything else that comes to mind in my posts, and there are an awful lot of us who don't or won't want to deal with that. No shade intended whatsoever.
However, if you want to see what I've posted, and because I am not in any way doing this for money yet, if ever, all my recent posts are available at lisatola@substack.com. The "tola" is Thinking Out Loud Again. Be sure, before you hit that free subscription button, that you really want to get them in your email inbox a lot, because at this point, I'm posting every weekday!
This may well slow down, but apparently I had a lot to say, and here I am still running off at the mouth. I hesitated before putting this link up for everyone because, again, not the kinds of things I post here, necessarily, and I have a lot of respect for our prohibition against religion and politics. But what can I say? I wrote for a living for an awful lot of years, and I've found I missed that.
If I see you there, that's wonderful. I do not EXPECT to see anyone there, that's not why I'm putting this here. I just feel like I'm talking about writing again so much that not giving people a place to look at it isn't fair.
Because I'm weird that way. 😉
So… back to my doings… got stuff to hang on the line, crochet to do, need to check if the paint's dry on the fridge (weird phrase), and so on.
Later, y'all,
Love,

How beautifully done is the album! Love it! When my Mom passed I made album pages with a bunch of pretty handkerchiefs. I will take photos of the pages for you. It was really therapeutic for me to make her album.💖 I used way too much modge podge on her cover so my flowers in it kind of turned awful. I then integrated her pages to my Dads album. They divorced in 76' but its nice to know they're back together, at least in my album.💖

Carol, we have a house phone that we programmed all our most frequently used numbers into and all others don't get thru. If its a number we haven't put in, the phone will ask for the number, and gives us the option to either pick up, or not. We get zero scam calls now.
Its an AT&T phone called "Qaltel". Its a type that has a cordless phone in a cradle type thingy. There's the main one upstairs and a second one here downstairs. If you wish more info, I can get it to you on Messenger.👍🏼💖

Tracey – what great work you do on your albums!
Someone at BK is definitely doing prep in the evening. It’s just my habit to put the date stickers on the left of the pans, they were on the right. I mentioned it to the store manager, maybe this says that they really don’t need as many people in the evening? I would never take someone’s job away from them, but that is what they’re doing to me. The kids working at night probably don’t see it that way, tho. I had some onions separated in a bag (just extras that I sliced) yet they weren’t used. There is no way they were so slow that there was so much prep left over.
I also mentioned to her about Exodus Works. They have a food truck(this I didn’t know) so they have someone who is familiar with slicing tomatoes, etc. Exodus Works is a ministry for people who are trying to get back into society. They might have been homeless, perhaps were in rehab, maybe were in jail. Just trying to get back into society. I’ve had them do work for me, planting bushes, moving furniture. They’ve always been punctual, even going above and beyond what they technically were to do (like raking rocks when they put in the bushes). A while ago I asked them if they could have one of their guys come to BK to do prep only for a few days and they said they could. I spoke to the store mgr. Today about the possibility; this way they’d know if this is something they can doin Feb. rather than having to hire someone. I didn’t realize it, but it reflects on them if they have someone work for just a few days. It makes it look like their turnover is higher (somehow I don’t think a turnover of one person would make that much of a difference. But you never know) Well, she said she was going to speak to the guy who will be having the store (a new DM) at that time to see how he feels. So I guess we shall see. I’ll ask her tomorrow if she spoke to him. I can see it going out of her mind, she has so many things on her mind
Raining quite heavily right now so Ganon gets a reprieve, I won’t be taking him for a walk. Walk in the drizzling rain –OK. Not in this rain. Made a vanilla cake to put in the freezer, then some icing for the freezer. This way I don’t have to make it later. I really should go to WalMart. Hopefully, the rain will let up.
Carol – I’m so sorry that happened to you. When I was told that a husband and wife can’t count the donations together, I was shocked. I would never in a million years have thought of collusion. Vince just said to me “that’s because you’re too honest”. And sounds like you have the exact same problem.
Rose…. – welcome! One day at a time…. You’re doing great
You know what I haven’t heard about lately. Remember there was this thing about if someone calls you and says “can you hear me”, if you say “yes” it somehow records you voice? Haven’t heard of that in a while. I’m trying to think….if you were to get called like Carol did, is there something you can ask and it not be too obvious that you’re trying to discern if it’s a scam?
Beth – happy belated anniversary
Rebecca – the secretary at our church has that on her phone! I’d never heard of it until I called her. It asks who the caller is if it’s not in her contacts. I thought that was pretty smart to do
Well, the rain seems to be slowing down right now. So maybe I will go to WalMart.

If we wanted to do anything like after school programs, we would stay at my grandparents house. Only time I did that was for the monthly FFA meetings. Grandma would pick me up(just a few blocks away) I would spend the night then walk to school the next morning. She would always pack me lunch which was sweet BUT she liked Miracle Whip which I hated and still do. Made eating that sandwich hard but choked it down.

we can not split the property. It is only 3 acres and you have to have over 20acres there to be able to split it.
3 -
Debbie - I wasn't sure how big your mom's place is but I thought that might be the case. I did a little checking, looks like here in WA State a family cemetery plot can be "peeled out" (subdivided in a sense) if it's been officially designated and the family has to be allowed access. Not sure how it gets officially designated, but if it isn't, that might be something to look into in case mom's property has to be sold if California's rules are similar. As mentioned, remains buried in an urn might not qualify.
Anyhow, I understand your concern and hope something can be worked out when the time comes.

Carol: I am so sorry. I know it isn't just the money..its the emotional aspect that you were scammed. It makes you angry and you lose trust! It makes you feel sad. Well..your son certainly knows you are there for him!
So you both thought this was the attorney calling. And this guy was able to fake an attorney's office. Wow!
I recently lost money on a pre-paid debit card. i had it hooked to Amazon. Somehow a charge got billed 2x and Amazon tells me the money was not billed digitally but probably from an account outside of the US. I am having trouble getting a full understanding of it. I am just thankful it was not more money. But for the exact same amount???
I had someone email me and say a friend was at the beach and needed money. So I sent an email on another thread asking if she had emailed me. And you know…..I got a response…yes it was her. They had my entire email account!
I almost fell for it then. But I was scheduled to have a Zoom book study with her and so I just gently asked if she was at the beach. And she said no, she wished she was…why was i asking?

So I decided to fix one of my "Idaho instant mashed potato cups" for lunch. Big mistake! What an awful bit of an excuse for food. I now have this artificial taste in my mouth.... Ate a chocolate protein bar (love the Magic Spoons chocolate rice Krispies bar), plus a reheated "to lava" cup of my morning Joe. I need to make another cup of coffee. Later having a fish tender. Its the size of a chicken tender, pub beer battered, and yummy. Before when I logged my food I had 1 or 2 pieces which was a portion. I might have that later, which some homemade tartar sauce. Feeling better, stronger with each day. I don't know if I will ever get back to the point of eating all that I was logging. Definitely not as much protein as I was trying to get in daily. I have put away my protein shakes for a time.
Presently, am 220.6 lbs. Starting weight May 15th was 248.6. Close to 30 lbs gone. Highest weight was 255 lbs a couple of years ago. I feel better.

Hello friends. Just got back from a whirlwind trip to New Hampshire, Upstate NY, the Poconos and Finger Lakes region of NY. Saw good friends, met N's daughter, and enjoyed quality time with him. Experienced live music in venues as diverse as our lakeside motel (80's cover bands}, the giant Outlaw Festival (7 hours- thankfully they rented out chairs), and a tiny club that was originally a corner gas station. My friend's friend was performing back up percussion for a guy who was in town from Patagonia. He played latin jazz, which I just loved.
We drove hundreds of miles avoiding interstates and enjoying more scenic routes through rural and small communities. My friend's widower in the Poconos is doing well, but definitely burying his grief with volunteer work. He is going to make some woman a wonderful catch some day. Just not yet…
The Finger Lakes are beautiful and extremely popular for wineries. I didn't indulge all that much. We did shop at the local Saturday Farmers Market in an Amish county and relished a freshly made cider donut and cider slushy. Also tried the Spotted Duck Creamery which was voted the best ice cream in New York. They make the frozen custard using duck eggs which give it a creamier texture. We split of flight of 4 little scoops. All delish. We also went to a tasting at a Lavendar Farm+Artisinal Chocolate maker. It was a one woman operation and she set up the delicacies with a specific instructions for how to experience them with ALL your senses. Very nice to be reminded to stop and savor something special.
There was so much more we did over the 12 days. N and I continue to fully enjoy whatever we do, and people who meet us are struck by our compatibility. I am a very, very lucky lady.
Stay well friends. We can do this.

😥 Carol, sorry you and your hubby got scammed.
😀 Rori, what a great adventure for you and N.
😀 Annie and I had another great milestone today. I had an appointment with the dermatologist at 1PM when it was much too hot to leave her in the car while I saw the doctor so I left her home. This is the first time I've gone out in the car and left her at home. She seemed to know that something was different. I was gone just over an hour and all was well at home. She greeted me a though she hadn't seen me in a month but nothing was damaged and the rest of the afternoon went well.
😱 They sliced out two little hunks of me to biopsy—one on my scalp and one on my arm. I'll know the results of the biopsy in two weeks and go back for another appointment in a month.
😀 We got up early this morning to have time for a long walk followed by watering the garden. We met up with a friend with a dog so we had company for our long walk. Among the early morning sights was a raccoom climbing a tree.

Hey good evening my friends.
We had a long day. Dad had a drooping eye on one side so we went to the emergency room. His CT scan, blood work, urine test, neurological test and all were all normal. Blood pressure was a bit high. And his balance and confusion were poor but normal for him. So if it was a mini stroke, it passed. He is supposed to get an MRI soon.
They said I could choose whether he was admitted overnight for observation or went home. I decided to take him home because he would be disoriented in the hospital. But there is an increased risk of stroke now.
So we are both drained. And I still have to do the dishes before the repairman comes tomorrow morning. And I have yet to do my bike and row.
My friends K and C and D were very supportive. My sister was offline most of the day, but I finally contacted her.
So Dad is doing his puzzle and we are back to our usual, with an extra bit of worry.

Annie: My heart is thinking about you and your Dad. Your devout caregiving and love for him shines right through. I tell people it is an honor to be a caregiver for someone you love, but also very exhausting and confining. Great you have K and C and D in your life! Maybe one of them would come have a cup of coffee while you use the bike and row! Can be so lonely to exercise alone1
LOL: I signed up for an ADD body doubling group on Zoom. There were 24 people on the Zoom. 4 of these people had their cameras on! LOL: Younger people make me laugh! That is not body doubling to me!
Machka: I don't work so I guess except for the house care it is all free time. I do think about North Star goals…which I say are writing and knitting and meditating. I am a dabbler and use to try and have a theme for the hot summer. One year I took pottery, one year Mandarin lessons, one year I did a weekly writing group, This summer I volunteered at the Food Bank. I get tired more easily then in the past!
Best,

Heather - it sounds like a busy couple of days.
I have a nagging stomach gf and on toothache. I am so fearful of the dentist. I have been putting up with the pain.
Your cabinet will be all set soon.I living in nostalgia right now, I’m also very homesick.Machka - My weekday routine is:
Get home from work and make supper, clean up. Usually done by 6.I either sit for a bit and catch up with you ladies or I start crafting.
Around 730-800 I have a bath, then either craft or watch mindless tv and catch up some more on here.
At some point I go out and water my garden in the summer.
Thursday’s I have ceramics
I am usually in bed by 930-10 on weeknights. My weekends I always try to fit some downtime in on Friday and Sunday evening, but will keep busy puttering, visiting, cleaning, etc the rest of the weekend.
Tonight after supper I talked to my BFF for over an hour. We have the starts of plans for my trip home.Lisa - do they know what is causing the vertigo? Is it mostly the crystals in your ear?
I am enjoying your writing although I am a few posts behind.Carol - I’m so so sorry. The police are warning about that scam here regularly.
A couple in Manitoba were just scammed out of $20k. They recommend that any calls asking for money to hang up and call the real person/business yourself to confirm.Beth - love the photos! Happy Anniversary!
Rebecca - I think it’s fair that you put your parents back together in an album. They didn’t divorce you, just each other.
I can’t wait to see the album.Michele - Exodus sounds like a great thing. We need more like those around.
Debbie -my grandparents were my neighbours so they were out of town too. I really had no one in towns
Rebecca - you’re doing so well. Your dedication is paying off.
Pip - that bear is lucky to have you for a surgeon.
Rori - nice to see you pop in, sounds like another nice adventure.
Annie - stressful day for you. Hope you and your Dad have good sleeps tonight.
Rosemarie - I like your idea of one thing per summer.
My BFF and I chatted for over an hour this evening. I have laid out plans for where I’m spending the night while I’m home and I’ve texted confirmation with my brother that he will pick me up from the airport and he’ll take me for a four-wheeler ride in the woods I grew up in.
I’ve also gotten his permission to have a party and I’ve already invited quite a few people. I’m excited.more of my album:
This is the left one from last night opened once more.
The couple on the left is my paternal great grandparents in the middle is photos my grandparents shared during WWI and the right is my maternal great grandparents. My moms pages
My grandfathers siblings and the house that became my grandparents.
My grandparents Wartime photos. They were married 1941.
Maternal grandparents. For those of you that remember the table I redid last summer, it came from this house. My maternal great grandparents and my grandmother and her siblings.
My moms was an only child so no other family on her side.
Thank you all for the compliments, this has been a lot of fun to do and probably contributing heavily to the homesickness.
I have one more section to complete hopefully tomorrow evening.Tracey in Edmonton
