Starting Weight from End of Last Challenge: : 185.6

Goal This Round: 175.6 (10 pounds)

    Challenge Actual Ending Weight: xxxxx

    Total Lost/Gained this challenge: xxxxx

🔜🔜🔜🔜🔜Ultimate Goal: 145-155 (I’ll know Exactly when I get there!)

Thoughts at the start of this round:

This round will be challenging as it includes the U.S. holidays of Labor Day, Halloween and Thanksgiving. All are big foodie or party and dessert type holidays in the U.S. There are also multiple birthday celebrations in my family. In addition, there will be a lot of travel which is traditional in the fall for me as I try to avoid as many icy driving trips as possible in the winter months. There will be lots of doctor appointments away from home as well as Christmas and gift-giving shopping in this round. I will have to make sure I stay on top of my plan in every moment I can and to make the necessary corrections every time the scale goes up. We can’t control the ingredients in restaurant food so portion control will be key when away from home. I will again aim for a 10 pound loss this round. Thanks for sharing your journey with me and allowing me to share mine. I am grateful for you all.

Day 28—09/19—185.0 ✅ - (Trend Weight: 185.0) With stomach still hurting I did a liquid diet yesterday eating similarly to what I did one day earlier in the week, trying to give my intestines a rest. This caused the overnight whoosh but there are still several extra pounds here that need to be contended with and my diuretic will likely help. My weight today is a very late weigh-in. I usually don’t weigh on Fridays at all due to my schedule. I have been eating more yogurt lately due to some delicious seasonal flavors I can only get once per year in the fall. I wonder if that is what is causing the stomach distress/gassiness? Pain has been spastic and intense.

    CURRENT WEEK:

🐝🐝🐝🐝 Day 29—09/20— 184.4 ✅(Trend Weight: 184.9) I’m happy to see a drop but don’t know if I believe it for two reasons. #1- my scale battery died (rechargeable) and I had to find a low to ground plug to plug it in while weighing. That put the scale in a completely different spot. #2- my dinner was downright STUPID yesterday in every possible way. I ate it 5 hours early and it was 3 McDonald’s pies (2 pumpkin crème and 1 apple). Thank you to my 98 pound size triple zero DD who left them out for me. My fault for caving, I know! I know! In her defense, I don’t think she expected me to eat all 3 at once or use them as a meal replacement! Anyway, I Starved for the rest of the day and caved at night for too many “healthy” snacks putting me way over on calories and carbs. We’ll see what the scale tomorrow brings.

@deepwoodslady re “184.4 ✅(Trend Weight: 184.9) I’m happy to see a drop but don’t know if I believe it” —> believe it. The trend is 184.9. So, 184.4 as a today’s scale makes sense.

My total calorie surplus while camping was 1000. The scale this morning was not kind, coming in at 143.7 (that's a 3lbs increase from 10 days ago). The worst part is that I do not feel bloated, so I don't feel like this is going to come falling off in the next few days. I will get back into my normal routines and back on track. For future trips, I need to stay on plan. Each time I go away, I come back with ground to make up. It is great while I'm on vacation and fancy free with food, but not such a good feeling when I return.

The dark blue highlighted row is the day we left for camping. The light blue highlighted rows are the days we were away and the weights in those cells are the prorated increase while I was away.

Today is the first day back. We visited our youngest son today, which is always a high calorie IN and low calorie OUT day. Tomorrow is a new day.

@age_is_just_a_number I don't know about that theory that if my trend weight is lower than my scale number is prolly correct. If one is skewed, wouldn't the other be skewed also? I guess waiting is the hardest part….. :)

You will lose it before you know it, those calorie numbers don't add up to more than pound if that. But the changes in fiber and salt is probable a lot, give yourself a 4-5 days and it will come off getting back to normal! I know you got this, and it is frustrating to see such a large gain, but it's just the chemistry of the new food items inter-acting with your body. I have been adding more whole oats to my diet and I know that is going to make the scale go up, with more fiber in the system, small diet changes will affect the scale for the short term but over the months it will be nothing but a blip!

@ptitejeanne Congratulations on the 1.6lbs loss in one week! Way to go!

@dawnbgethealthy Good for you showing such restraint on your birthday! Absolutely love the pictures. The cottage and surrounding area look so peaceful. The trees are just starting to turn on their fall colours. I giggled when I saw the lipstick on your mug.

@Jon4189 The Octoberfest bicycle jersey is hilarious! You wear it well.

One day off the trail isn't going to take you that far off the road! You will get it back, enjoy the over day, and don't worry as long as you pick up being on track again! Those days are good for the mind, and it will only take a couple days back on the road to get back to the destination! You got this and you know what you need to do going forward! You got this. This isn't a week of bad meals or a month, just a day! A day where you enjoyed, like a vacation you saved up for, enjoy it, but then get back to work to save up for another small vacation!

Thanks for the encouragement. Other than ice cream and alcohol, we really don't eat differently while camping than at home. But those changes are enough to retain water and see an impact on the scale. We'll see where things are at in two weeks.

As this year has gone one I've been trying to see if the 3500 calories ~ 1lb common theory has any foundation in my body. What I've found is, over the course of one week or even one month there is no relationship, but over the course of 8 months there seems to be:

Jan 6 to Sept 19 total calorie deficit 41000
Jan 6 to Sept 20 total weight loss 11.4lbs
    41000/11.4 = 3597 calories per pound

I've done the calculation previously and have not seen the same result. I think you just need more time to see the relationship.

Visited our youngest son yesterday. We did play outside with him, so got a little more movement in than during a typical visit. I also did yoga in the morning before we left. We did not walk the dog. Yesterday I ate far too many carbs (B - oatmeal, L - hamburger bun, pasta salad, swiss roll and D - rice. Today I need to drink more water, get back to tracking my water and eat more vegetables.

Thank you, @Jon4189, and your son gets cyclists: that's a hilarious jersey. If you could find a water bottle that looks like a beer stein…
