My name is Donna. I am 65 years old and I live in the Midwest of the US. I am 5’ 5” tall. My highest weight was 253. I would like to lose a total of about 100 pounds and have been working on it for too many years (since 2018). I weigh weekly but also on the 1st and last day of each month for a full month’s account.

I AM GOING TO TRY SOMETHING NEW THIS TIME AROUND. MY GOAL FOR THE CHALLENGE WILL BE 10 POUNDS WHICH WILL BE DIFFICULT BUT I DON’T FEEL IS TOO MUCH TO ASK, EVEN GIVEN MY AGE, MY MEDICAL CONDITIONS THAT SET ME BACK AND MY MEDICATIONS. I HAVE DIVIDED MY WEIGH-INS WHICH ARE A TOTAL OF 18 BY THE 10 POUNDS AND FIND THAT MY GOAL EACH WEEK IS TO LOSE 0.6 LBS IN ORDER TO REACH MY GOAL WEIGHT. I WILL ALSO FIGURE IT OUT BY THE MONTH. FOR EXAMPLE IN JULY 0.6 LBS X 6 (WEIGH-INS) = A GOAL OF A 3.6 LB LOSS. IF I GET BEHIND ON ANY GIVEN WEEK, I’VE ONLY MADE IT HARDER ON MYSELF AS I HAVE TO THEN CATCH UP. THE SPECIFIC GOALS NUMBERS MAY CHANGE AS I GO ALONG ONLY TO KEEP IN LINE WITH MY 10 POUND LOSS GOAL. 08/18—182.8 ❌ (Trend Weight: 184.4) I’m up a pound this week primarily for no explained reason other than bathrrom reasons. If we saw a graph of me for this week, boy would the lines look like mountain trails, up & down & squiggly. Landed on this number today which is honestly probably an accurate picture of where I currently am. It’s going to be a rough week. A little travel and then a birthday party next weekend. Next Monday’s weight may reflect some of that but I will do my best in-between! I started August at almost 189 and had a hefty catch-up goal so I’ve got to do my best to hang on!
⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️08/25 –183.8 ❌ (Trend Weight: 185.0)All the social events and travel got me. I also had 2 days of unexplained bump ups. Perhaps delayed reactions though immediate reactions showed up next days too so I dunno. I have just got to keep on keeping on. It’s not going to be a good week for me. More travel, more social. I really need to learn how to better navigate these things as they are constants in my life off & on. After all these years, you would think I would be better at it. Humph…..

⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️008/31 – 181.8 ✅ (Trend Weight – 184.5) I exceeded my goal by 1.2 lbs in August, losing a total of 7 lbs this month to catch me back up on my experiment. I really kept each individual week’s goal in mind while doing this. I just hope I can hang on. I have the U.S. Holiday of Labor Day (a food holiday) in September, a family member’s birthday, and at least one travel day every week looming for the month. I will be battling every week as I usually gain several pounds per travel day so I will have to work hard all week, every week, to get it back down. That will be like a challenge within a challenge for me! It won’t be easy but I am committed to this feat, this challenge, this experiment and to myself and my health. I am going forward with hope in my heart!

CURRENT WEEK:
🚲️🚲️ 🚲️ 09/01 -- 09/01—185.0 ❌ (Trend Weight: 184.6) This is what it looks like when I fill with water. I stuck to my meals well yesterday but did have dessert at a friend’s house with DD and DGS. I was unable to take my prescribed water pill the past couple of days. This week will be hit & miss. I’m not even sure if it’s fair to weigh and if the numbers will do more harm mentally than good. Especially when it continues that I can’t take the medication. Tomorrow’s weight would be after the holiday BBQ today away from home. Wednesday I travel several hours each wayfor a medical appointment on my eyes so Thursday will be skewed. Friday is “no weigh day”, especially with school back in session for DGS. So Saturday would be first day that weight has a chance to slightly level though it could still possibly be somewhat elevated if one day of recovery is not enough. I will play it by ear and see how my curiosity gets to me. This much back-to-back-to-back-to-back change is definitely cramping my style and my routine. It feels like such a wasted week and opportunity to see where I’m really at. I’ve no choice but to push through and do What I can, When I can. Right now from this angle it looks like another month of chasing my tail. Last month I finally caught it in the very last week, only to start on that low for this month. Ugh!

09/01 -- 09/01—185.0 ❌ (Trend Weight: 184.6) This is what it looks like when I fill with water. I stuck to my meals well yesterday but did have dessert at a friend’s house with DD and DGS. I was unable to take my prescribed water pill the past couple of days. This week will be hit & miss. I’m not even sure if it’s fair to weigh and if the numbers will do more harm mentally than good. Especially when it continues that I can’t take the medication. Tomorrow’s weight would be after the holiday BBQ today away from home. Wednesday I travel several hours each wayfor a medical appointment on my eyes so Thursday will be skewed. Friday is “no weigh day”, especially with school back in session for DGS. So Saturday would be first day that weight has a chance to slightly level though it could still possibly be somewhat elevated if one day of recovery is not enough. I will play it by ear and see how my curiosity gets to me. This much back-to-back-to-back-to-back change is definitely cramping my style and my routine. It feels like such a wasted week and opportunity to see where I’m really at. I’ve no choice but to push through and do What I can, When I can. Right now from this angle it looks like another month of chasing my tail. Last month I finally caught it in the very last week, only to start on that low for this month. Ugh!
🚲️🚲️ 🚲️09/08 – 183.6 ✅ (Trend Weight – 184.6) I am recording and posting my weight a day early since I will be out of town later today and tomorrow . A bit of travel earlier this week set me back a day or two while the after Labor Day holiday weigh-in on the 2nd killed my spirit a bit too but I managed to rein it in before this next bout of two day travel that starts today. I will be back tomorrow night. Feels like I’m chasing my tail sometimes due to travel, but so far I’ve managed to make it work this past week and still show a loss. Again, it will be all restaurants and lots of sitting the next two days, but I think I have time to get back to good graces before next weigh-in, yet again. Crossing fingers, anyway.

MFP starting weight 2/2011: 160.2 lbs Since then I’ve come & gone, started, stopped. Weight bounced around from 140-168 lbs. Wanting to be consistent to lose down to about 98 lbs & be healthier & stronger. (63F, & 4’11” or less & small boned—athlete in past but that was long ago). I was just diagnosed with Osteoporosis & I have hypothyroidism. My name is Donna. I am 65 years old and I live in the Midwest of the US. I am 5’ 5” tall. My highest weight was 253. I would like to lose a total of about 100 pounds and have been working on it for too many years (since 2018). I weigh weekly but also on the 1st and last day of each month for a full month’s account.

I AM TRYING SOMETHING LATELY. MY GOAL FOR THE CHALLENGE WILL BE 0.1 lbs PER DAY. THAT WILL USUALLY COME TO SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 9 AND 10 LBS TOTAL LOST MOST CHALLENGES. IT WILL BE DIFFICULT BUT I DON’T FEEL IT IS TOO MUCH TO ASK, EVEN GIVEN MY AGE, MY MEDICAL CONDITIONS THAT SET ME BACK AND MY MEDICATIONS. IF I GET BEHIND ON ANY GIVEN DAY, WEEK OR MONTH, I’VE ONLY MADE IT HARDER ON MYSELF AS I HAVE TO THEN CATCH UP. THE SPECIFIC GOALS NUMBERS MAY CHANGE AS I GO ALONG ONLY TO KEEP IN LINE WITH MY GRAND TOTAL LOSS GOAL. IN THE END IT SHOULD BE EQUAL TO 0.1 LB PER DAY OR MORE. I KNOW IT’S A MIND GAME I’M PLAYING WITH MYSELF, BUT IT ALSO FEELS LIKE I’M NOT BITING OFF MORE THAN I CAN CHEW. LET’S SEE HOW THIS GOES!

🐝🐝🐝🐝 09/22– 183.4 ✅ (Trend Weight – 184.7) My simple goal at the start was to lose approximately 3 pounds per month (for a total of 9.2) and I have not been able to even do that. The first month (July) really set me back but I did manage to catch up and even slightly exceed my goal in August. However, September has set me back, yet again. I’m feeling a bit like a failure. I’m quite sure I cannot lose 3 ½ pounds in the next week to “catch up” and meet my overall challenge goal. Sad because that would have let me dip my toes into the 170’s for the 1st time in a very long time. I'm sad about all this, but will try to use my feelings to help me make better and more sustainable changes. On a positive note, I joined a book club a few weeks back and tonight is my first meeting. I’m nervous but excited to get out and mingle.
