Thoughts at the start of this round:
This round will be challenging as it includes the U.S. holidays of Labor Day, Halloween and Thanksgiving. All are big foodie or party and dessert type holidays in the U.S. There are also multiple birthday celebrations in my family. In addition, there will be a lot of travel which is traditional in the fall for me as I try to avoid as many icy driving trips as possible in the winter months. There will be lots of doctor appointments away from home as well as Christmas and gift-giving shopping in this round. I will have to make sure I stay on top of my plan in every moment I can and to make the necessary corrections every time the scale goes up. We can’t control the ingredients in restaurant food so portion control will be key when away from home. I will again aim for a 10 pound loss this round. Thanks for sharing your journey with me and allowing me to share mine. I am grateful for you all.

Day 53—10/14— 181.4 ❌ (Trend Weight: 183.7) I’ve been keeping my weekly reduced goals the same since the beginning of the challenge (so far). I am hoping to slowly catch up and be at goal by the end of the challenge although this IS the hardest time of the year. My goal each week is a 0.7 lb loss so in Week 8 I have 3.1 extra pounds to make up for from previous weeks plus the additional current 0.7. I’ll make up as much as I can this week although tomorrow’s travel may set me back a minute. I really want to try to stick to original goals for as long as I can. Either I come in very far away in the end, or very close. I may even reach them. But I don’t want to change where I want to be. Not this round anyway. It’s just how I’m feeling in this moment. A small uptick today probably due to no TMI. Yesterday was a good day for calories, carbs and exercise. I just wasn’t as hungry as usual and left food on my plate at every meal.
🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃 Day 54—10/15—182.6 ❌ (Trend Weight: 183.6) Boy, do I EVER have every excuse in the book today for the weight increase. Dinner AFTER midnight. Up 3 hours early for travel today so a very early weigh-in. A little over 3 hours of sleep. Did I mention that I didn’t EXACTLY stick to my pre-logged food since the entire day was askew? I probably won’t weigh tomorrow due to the travel and the havoc that causes me. I will need at least 24 hours to let the dust settle. So I got my 2024 tax package back from the accountant today. My refund from Federal will cover what I owe the State taxes and I can pay that immediately online on Michigan.gov even though the Federal refund will likely take months, especially with the government shut down. But at least the Fed refund will cover the state bill. Is that what they mean by “robbing Peter to pay Paul?”. Ha!

@age_is_just_a_number In regards to losing 4 lbs in a week not being realistic. Au Contraire my friend! If you look back at my spoiler for the past week to Sept 11 & 12, not only did I lose 4 lbs in the week, I actually lost 4.6 lbs OVERNIGHT. Of course, I know it wasn't 4 lbs of fat going away, anymore than it was 4 lbs of fat coming on prior to that. Sometimes I just skip weighing because it's so confusing to others and frustrating to me. When I don't take my prescribed Lasix and the old ticker is lazy, I can absolutely gain it that quickly and lose it almost as quickly just with one little pill and staying home for the day. Also, TMI (food in transit) can make a huge difference for me. On that particular day I think it was actually that and not a water pill that caused that tremendous weight loss.
Honestly, by keeping my goals running this time, I'm hoping not for an overnight whoosh so much as just being able to catch up. I'm hoping that an extra 0.8 one week, maybe 1.2 the next, maybe an extra 0.6 over and above my 0.7 I hope for each week will add up to enough to make up for what I have not been able to accomplish so far. I'm behind in weight loss/fat loss I know. It is not necessarily all water loss/gain. If the number were to get too big (like 8 pounds behind or something) I probably would re-assess my goal if I'm not in the middle of a water retention crisis. But for now, honestly with this many weeks left, maybe just maybe….. Well, a girl can dream, can't she?

Hi I’m Jenny, 60 years old and 5’6” - back again after another unhealthy “hiatus.” My sister and I have made a commitment to each other to stay accountable – 50 days is still plenty of time to make some real progress, and I’m determined to get out of my own way!
Day 50—10/11: 218.2 – did a longer cardio/weights workout & stretch. Definitely feeling more locked in than I have in a long time!
Halfway Progress Report: …..Pounds Lost so Far: 6.8
Day 51—10/12: 217.8 – I was afraid there’s be a bump up yesterday afternoon because DH and I went out to eat yesterday afternoon, but I kept it to 2 tequila/seltzers and an appetizer of blackened mahi bites – about 5 oz of fish strips. Yummy and I felt like it was a treat without going overboard, and the scale still is on a downward trend so yay! Did a pilates workout & stretch and ready to enjoy some football. J
Day 52—10/13: 217.2 – I can’t remember the last time I weighed in on a Monday and didn’t at least have a water weight bump up from loosening the reins over the weekend. I kept the “loosenng” very moderate though and was conscious of my calorie intake so I’m proud of that. Did a great cardio and stretch this morning and back to strictness today!
Day 53—10/14: 217.6 – I knew the streak had to end sooner or later! I’ve pushed a little harder in my workouts the past couple of days, so might be a bit of inflammation.
Day 54—10/15: 217.4 – Did a lower intensity standing Pilates workout & stretch, I feel great. I think I needed a little recovery!
Day 55—10/16: 217.0 – Fighting for every ounce! Did a good weights/cardio workout & stretch. Sun is finally out today, I’m going to try to get outside for a walk at some point.

Still dealing with an out of the ordinary situation with my family. I did squeeze in some outdoor walks, but food was way over. I enjoyed the food, and today I am back to normal. I think life is starting to return to normal, so today should be a normal, routine day.

Way over ate yesterday. I'm not really sure why. I was just hungry and had an afternoon snack and evening munchies. Exercised, walked the dog & did housework. Today is a new day.

@age_is_just_a_number , the only time I lost that much weight in a week was the first week I changed how I eat. As you say, not all bodies work the same....there are several factors that come into play, like age, disease, etc. I am lucky to lose a pound in a month now. But as long as one keeps losing, that's the bottom line. 🙂

Day 51—10/12— 161 - Had more chili and fresh raspberries for lunch but forgot to take my meds so my blood sugar is elevated for the moment. I stopped at the (no longer the) Dollar Store to look for glass plates for a craft project, but they only had ceramic. I did leave with 3 solar-powered light up pumpkins 🎃 though.
Day 52—10/13— 160.8 - Feeling blah today...the Nor'easter is still hanging around. Had chili for lunch again...thinking about egg salad for dinner.
I was posting back and forth with a guy in Motivation who can't seem to lose weight (he is obese) and every suggestion I have he shot down. Total negativity. I finally gave up....I think he just wanted people to feel sorry for him. He needs more help than anyone here can give him but he says it takes 3 months to get an appointment. If he'd done that 3 months ago, he wouldn't even have that excuse.
Day 53—10/14— 161 - Food will be about the same today as yesterday. Almost finished my laundry...YAY! Today I repot my Monstera so it's ready for the winter. My hydrangea is already hibernating in my spare room with the heat off.
More chili for lunch....probably salmon for dinner.
Day 54—10/15— 159.8 - I MADE IT…FINALLY!
I know that fluctuating weight may have me up tomorrow, but I am glad to have taken the next step in my weight loss journey. It's been a long time since I have seen that number.
Not sure what food will be today....have a lot of running around to do.
Day 55—10/16— 159.8 - Well...surprise! My weight didn't go up. And this is after I was treated to a Cane's chicken combo yesterday. I guess my body is finally getting the message.....give it up. LOL!
Still have chili....will have that for lunch in awhile. And I have leftover salmon, too...probably for dinner. Have salad mix as well as soup. Plenty of choices.

Day 54—10/15—182.6 ❌ (Trend Weight: 183.6) Boy, do I EVER have every excuse in the book today for the weight increase. Dinner AFTER midnight. Up 3 hours early for travel today so a very early weigh-in. A little over 3 hours of sleep. Did I mention that I didn’t EXACTLY stick to my pre-logged food since the entire day was askew? I probably won’t weigh tomorrow due to the travel and the havoc that causes me. I will need at least 24 hours to let the dust settle. So I got my 2024 tax package back from the accountant today. My refund from Federal will cover what I owe the State taxes and I can pay that immediately online on Michigan.gov even though the Federal refund will likely take months, especially with the government shut down. But at least the Fed refund will cover the state bill. Is that what they mean by “robbing Peter to pay Paul?”. Ha!
🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃 Day 55—10/16—187.2 ❌ (Trend Weight: 183.9) Holy Bloat, Batman! Almost 5 lbs overnight? Yikes…. I absolutely did not mean to weigh today. I woke up after hardly no good rest last night very groggy. Got on scale without thinking and THAT woke me up! I didn’t think I’d eaten THAT bad yesterday but my last meal WAS very very late again. Indigestion all night. Shocked this morning but as long as I weigh, I share. Stomach feels hard. What’s in there? Gas bloat? Water retention? Baby? HA! That’s certainly what it feels like to the touch. Anyhow, getting DGS off the bus today and 4 day weekend begins with him and foodie daughter. I have absolutely ZERO interest in what’s in her totes and backpack. Nothing is helping this indigestion, not even my prescription for it. I know I did not eat an extra 17,500 calories so I’m quite sure some of this will come off in the next couple of days. I have had 3 red X's in a row though, so I'm a little worried about that. I haven’t exercised in the past couple of days either, so back to that and all the good habits and tools.

Day 50—10/11 — 135.8 - The show last night was amazing. Highly recommended if they come near you. Kalabante Cirque Afrique. Music, dancing, acrobatics, humour, audience engagement. I will try to find a video or something to post here. Tight for time this morning. Split shift, and I have lots to do to get the rest my garlic in and get the leaves raked to put on top before the temps drop dramatically tomorrow. Snow is in the forecast.

Day 51—10/12 — 136.8 - Up an entire pound somehow. Food was good and lots of exercise. Split shift today. It is 4c and looks like it rained last night. Garlic is all planted, leaves are 6" on top. All that is left in the garden now is carrots in 2 locations, and beets in 2 locations. They are fine, once it went to minus 20 and I thought that I would lose my beets, but I googled and it only makes them sweeter, so once it warmed enough to dig (it was a temporary cold snap) I harvested and they were delicious. I don't like to pull those things until I am ready to peel and process, because especially the beets' skins get soft after about 24 hours and are too hard to peel. I don't like the cook then peel method, I lose too much of their deep ruby colour which I love.
Day 52—10/13 — 136.2 - I got a voucher for a free Domino's pizza which was about to expire, so I am picking it up after work today. The last time that I had a pizza from an actual pizzeria was February 2023. Normally I will make my own pita pizza where I can control the calories. I am prepared for a bump up in weight, and I am not going to beat myself up over it. Having said that, I am going to keep my eating very light during the day today.
Day 53—10/14 — 136.8 - The pizza came with 6 slices. I ate 3 and then was almost comatose lol. I will have a piece in the toaster oven for brunch today. Day off. It was -3 here this morning, and -1 now. I will putter around inside today and when it warms up a bit get a few of my garden beds weeded and covered…or not. I have been battling a sore shoulder since last Thursday when I worked at the retirement/LTC home and was hauling tables and chairs. Makes it tough to sleep since that is my favoured side. Tylenol this morning. I have to keep up this 6 days a week work week until 2026, but I am honestly knackered.

Day 55—10/16 — 136.8 - Early morning dental cleaning, so rushing now to get ready for work and inhaling my coffee that I put off so that I didn't have to pee while sitting there for an hour lol.

Hi. I’m an unretired (by choice) senior from central B.C., Canada. Back for another round. Am an absolute turtle at losing and a hare at backsliding! This round my hope it to hang on to each loss then move down from there. Put an end to this eternal yo-yoing.

Day 50 ~ 10/11: 172.8 Worked afternoon shift; foot is sore so it’s a struggle. Hubby remains unwell so picking up ‘his jobs’ too. Focus of Livy program for this week is ‘downsizing’ the amount we eat; leave a bit of food uneaten. This’s really messing with my serenity. Realizing that the fear of being hungry is stemming from the JOY I feel when I don’t have the urge to eat in the evening. My fear is now that I’m running a bit hungry I’ll start ‘mindless evening grazing’. Happened a bit last night but only finished half of Rice Krispies, almond milk and banana. Did indulge in 8 small crackers with butter. I’m not doing very well with including “healthy fats” into my meals.
Halfway Progress Report: 1 week before this challenge started I was 179.4
Start of this challenge: 175.2 so down 3.4; so happy the wild 3 to 4 lb bounce has stopped.
Day 51 ~ 10/12: 171.8 My focus of today is to ask the 4 Mindful questions, “Am I hungry?” “Is there enough food on my plate?” “How will I feel if I eat all the food? “How do I feel 15 minutes after meal is finished?” Focus is level of satisfaction we feel, often satisfied with less food than I dish up. Notice I’ve easily shifted to using a smaller plate ( used to resist doing this). Since starting this plan my servings have slowly shrunk, so downsizing this week is really being noticed. Also have easily shifted away from the heavier carbs like potatoes etc. Also finding that glass of wine isn’t as important; perhaps this is because of the fear of its triggering cravings.
Day 52 ~ 10/13: 171.6 Another night of broken sleep so a late start to the day. Stopping at Dollar Store to pick up Thanksgiving napkins and cards for the tables at work tonite. Bringing home turkey for dinner tonight; will be cooking our own Turkey dinner next Saturday when sons are here. Dinner was yummy😊 , bit I allowed myself to slip into snacking on crackers, butter and p bttr.
Day 53 ~ 10/14: 173 Back on “the program”! Have slipped into mindless scrolling on my phone. Deleted ‘game’ apps. Need to re establish evening routines so sleep is better.
Day 54 ~ 10/15: 173.8 Eeeek!! Paddled 90 minutes and re arranged snacks so take the pressure off the evening.
