Day 43β10/04 β 135.4 - Waitress walking is sure not like walking in cottage country, my legs and hips and knees are sore today from the concrete. I'm sure that I will get back used to it. It is going to be quite awhile until I catch up financially, no income generated since September 7th. There are "blocks" of shifts available to bid on at the LTC place (Joseph Creek) but they coincide with my first job, so I couldn't take them. It would have been $1k sigh. Working a split shift today, so I plan to harvest any green beans that are ready during my break.

Thoughts at the start of this round:
This round will be challenging as it includes the U.S. holidays of Labor Day, Halloween and Thanksgiving. All are big foodie or party and dessert type holidays in the U.S. There are also multiple birthday celebrations in my family. In addition, there will be a lot of travel which is traditional in the fall for me as I try to avoid as many icy driving trips as possible in the winter months. There will be lots of doctor appointments away from home as well as Christmas and gift-giving shopping in this round. I will have to make sure I stay on top of my plan in every moment I can and to make the necessary corrections every time the scale goes up. We canβt control the ingredients in restaurant food so portion control will be key when away from home. I will again aim for a 10 pound loss this round. Thanks for sharing your journey with me and allowing me to share mine. I am grateful for you all.
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

Day 42β10/03β184.2 β (Trend Weight: 184.1) I woke up to loud buzzing coming from the back of my main refrigerator and the food in my freezer beginning to melt. The door was shut all the way so there is some sort of problem. Fridge seems okay so far but monitoring. It is somewhat βfancyβ and expensive though not new. I donβt need to spend $$$ on a new one right before this expensive dental work coming up, not to mention the Holidays! My son is an appliance repair person so Iβm hoping he will fit me in his schedule soon. Fingers crossed it can be fixed! He does not live near me and he stays so busy because we are lacking almost all skilled trades in upper Michigan within 100 miles of me in all 4 directions. So frustrating!

Itβs Friday! I decided to weigh anyway (although it is a late weigh-in) so I just donβt know how accurate this is for comparison. It was a great dietary day yesterday although I took a rest day from intentional exercise. Today I need to get in some movement! It looks like the weigh-ins are going to keep coming on a Friday when I usually donβt weigh due to the scheduling problem. I βm wondering if I should change my weigh-in days on my saved format for this challenge by one day or just accept late weigh-ins at this point. At least the late weigh-ins would be consistent. Thoughts anyone?

Iβve added an 8th day to my week to change my week ending day to Saturday instead of Friday due to scheduling reasons. My numbers will be different from yours by one day for the rest of this challenge. I had a pretty bad glucose drop yesterday. This can be common with a diabetic but it hasnβt happened to me in a bit. Of course, I shoveled all food in sight quickly in for as long as it took to get my head above water and no longer be drowning. The instinct is Never To Sink. Afterward there is always the sadness and regret but itβs too late. I had not waited too long to eat and my prior meal was enough and was good so I donβt always understand. Onward and Forward and hoping for a better day today.

Between you and @Crochetluvr , I feel like I should go through my closet. Itβs been a year since I retired and I have many items of clothing that Iβve not worn in that year. Maybe Iβll do it on a cold winter day. The weather is too nice this time of year for me to spend inside.

Day 39β09/30β DNW. I bought a digital kitchen scale at the Sally Army - only $3. The idea is to weigh my food so I can get a more accurate calorie count, rather than just listing eg one bread roll, without an idea of whether it's the same size as the one I'm eating.

Day 41β10/02β 137 lb. Jeepers!!! how did that happen so fast? now I'm wondering if the scale is completely accurate - maybe it shifted position or something? I think I may have to wait to see how much I weigh next time I'm at the doctor. Her scale will likely be more accurate than mine (she does take off a couple of pounds for clothing).
Day 42β10/03β 136.8 lb. I've been feeling somewhat under the weather for the last couple of days, and this morning I woke up with a heavy cold. So I haven't been exercising much this week, but my appetite is low as well - hence the loss of weight, I guess.
So I stayed home and finished knitting a baby blanket - once I gift it, that will be over 2 pounds of yarn gone from my stash.
Week 6 Start Weight: 139 lb
Week 6 Goal: Started off by dropping 0.5 lb overnight, so will aim for sustaining that loss. Any further reduction will be a bonus.
Week 6 Actual Weight: 136.8 lb. Wow! beat goal by 2.2 lbs - albeit not in the best way. I suspect my appetite will return next week, and there may be some overeatingβ¦β¦

Active day yesterday β> exercised, walked the dog, took eldest son shopping.
Over on IN target β> I tried all my evening snacking/craving strategies, in the end, I think I was just hungry? I ate/drank 500 calories after dinner. Looking back, I think the problem is I started with a butter tart and a rye & ginger. Those were both empty calories. Then I had a peach and some cottage cheese with chocolate protein powder. I think if I had started with the fruit and cottage cheese, then I wouldn't have wanted the butter tart and drink.4 -

Day 43β10/04 β 135.4 - Waitress walking is sure not like walking in cottage country, my legs and hips and knees are sore today from the concrete. I'm sure that I will get back used to it. It is going to be quite awhile until I catch up financially, no income generated since September 7th. There are "blocks" of shifts available to bid on at the LTC place (Joseph Creek) but they coincide with my first job, so I couldn't take them. It would have been $1k sigh. Working a split shift today, so I plan to harvest any green beans that are ready during my break.
Day 44β10/05 β 135.4 - I feel like I have just worked 7 days and it has only been 2 lol. I have a straight through shift instead of a split today, so am working on packing up some food to take. I don't eat much, but I do eat frequently. A sliced up apple eaten with a fork will last me a couple of hours, having a piece here and there as I walk by the staff table. I made potato salad last night to take, and I cut up a big belle pepper from my garden also to munch on. Trying to get back to the yoghurt and granola thing, I haven't had that since before my trip. I put some in a container to take to work today too.

Thoughts at the start of this round:
This round will be challenging as it includes the U.S. holidays of Labor Day, Halloween and Thanksgiving. All are big foodie or party and dessert type holidays in the U.S. There are also multiple birthday celebrations in my family. In addition, there will be a lot of travel which is traditional in the fall for me as I try to avoid as many icy driving trips as possible in the winter months. There will be lots of doctor appointments away from home as well as Christmas and gift-giving shopping in this round. I will have to make sure I stay on top of my plan in every moment I can and to make the necessary corrections every time the scale goes up. We canβt control the ingredients in restaurant food so portion control will be key when away from home. I will again aim for a 10 pound loss this round. Iβve added an 8th day to my week to change my week ending day to Saturday instead of Friday due to scheduling reasons. My numbers will be different from yours by one day for the rest of this challenge. I had a pretty bad glucose drop yesterday. This can be common with a diabetic but it hasnβt happened to me in a bit. Of course, I shoveled all food in sight quickly in for as long as it took to get my head above water and no longer be drowning. The instinct is Never To Sink. Afterward there is always the sadness and regret but itβs too late. I had not waited too long to eat and my prior meal was enough and was good so I donβt always understand. Onward and Forward and hoping for a better day today.

It didnβt allow me to take advantage of the calorie burn but it did keep me from another glucose drop and feeding frenzy. Anyhoo, fridge was fixed. It had ice build up in the fan due to the back panel being loose. No $$$ for parts and free labor from son so I finally got a $$$ break. Have a great Sunday everyone!

I have heard of Glucerna but I don't really know anything about it. I think it is a drink? When the sugar drops hit it is indescribable. The closest is when I say it feels like you are deep in the ocean and drowning. The feeding frenzy goes on until the glucose rises to what feels like an acceptable level. If Glucerna would bring it up quickly that could work. But if it takes 10 minutes, I could easily drink multitudes of it and add thousands of calories and many many carbs in those 10 minutes. It is like I can't stop until "things are right". Otherwise I'll drown. The feeding frenzy is like kicking, paddling, frog leaping, doggie paddling, floating, swimming underwater, Whatever It Takes to get to shore or more shallow waters. There is just no way to stop or you'll drown. I am going to look into glucose pills too. I've heard of them but my doctor has never talked to me about them. I imagine that would save a lot of calories even if it takes many minutes to work. But I'm not sure without research. I don't think my insurance covers them and I don't know if they are expensive. I will look into it though along with the Glucerna. Thanks for the tip and for putting my mind into a curiosity on how to solve this problem. No matter how occasional the problem is, it IS still a problem.

I think I may have to wait to see how much I weigh next time I'm at the doctor. Her scale will likely be more accurate than mine (she does take off a couple of pounds for clothing).
Day 42β10/03β 136.8 lb. I've been feeling somewhat under the weather for the last couple of days, and this morning I woke up with a heavy cold. So I haven't been exercising much this week, but my appetite is low as well - hence the loss of weight, I guess.
So I stayed home and finished knitting a baby blanket - once I gift it, that will be over 2 pounds of yarn gone from my stash.
Week 6 Start Weight: 139 lb
Week 6 Goal: Started off by dropping 0.5 lb overnight, so will aim for sustaining that loss. Any further reduction will be a bonus.
Week 6 Actual Weight: 136.8 lb. Wow! beat goal by 2.2 lbs - albeit not in the best way. I suspect my appetite will return next week, and there may be some overeatingβ¦β¦

Day 44β10/05β 136.5 lb. feeling unwell today, so mostly stayed in bed, just sipping water. Felt better around dinner time, but not up to cooking much. So I just microwaved a sweet potato and sprinkled on some grated cheese. It was very good and very filling.
Day 45β10/06β 136 lb. Feeling a little better today, but when I went outside to put the recyling out for collection, the cold wind caught my chest badly, and I was coughing for quite a while after. Ate quite a lot of fruit, which also turned out to be Not.The.Best.Idea.

@deepwoodslady , You can purchase glucose tablets or there are liquid pouches to raise blood sugar. Or you can use orange juice. I used to just eat a candy bar I kept in the fridge for such an emergency.....ha, ha! My daughter bought me the glucose pouches. But I haven't used any since my Endo took me off insulin.
Day 43β10/04βΒ 162.4 - Had a really nice breakfast out with a friend....that was basically my meal for the day.
Day 44β10/05βΒ 162 - Stopped at the grocery store yesterday and picked up some yogurt and poblano peppers for the chili I have yet to make. Had some of the yogurt for breakfast this morning. Got another busy day ahead....cleaning and decorating for fall. Phillies lost, so I need something to cheer me up. Hoping the Eagles can help with that.

I thought all the exercise I had yesterday with working around the apartment would have helped with the weight, but not enough. Still have more to do today. Got all the furniture moved, though. Will probably have yogurt for breakfast and beef stew for lunch. Not sure about dinner....maybe a salad.
