π· 67 yrs young F, 5ft 4 Round 315 (my 245th).
Goals for every round;
- First and foremost, no feeding frenzies β I am not a shark or even a piranha!
- to weigh less at the end of the round than the start
- be happy because I feel that I have made the round count at the end
- to have a totally 10-day binge free round.
- Would like to lose a pound round.
I need to remain consistent - it does work! Good luck for success everyone.
Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, itβs taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 135. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.
Updated 20.08.24 β I met up with youngest DB, first time after his DP passed away at the way too early age of 46. DB lives a long way from us, we see him very infrequently & is very introvert, so not a sharer of info π. However, he finally opened up to me, it seems that his DPs bad health leading to heart failure followed by kidney, liver failure & then a massive stroke, was originally caused by heavy drinking. By the time he realised he was abusing his body and went teetotal, the damage was too late to reverse. He was on the list for a heart transplant, but his other organs gave up before one became available. This has made me think about how I am abusing my body when I have binges with way too much sugar, fat & salt. I know I am a food addict. I'm going to try to think about this when I am tempted to overindulge, I need to start respecting my body more and think about whether I want to be in the best health I can be. My body has served me so well for 67 years, it deserves to be given the best chance to keep serving me well & I've been really lucky that life has not dealt me a raw health deal, so I must not jeopardize that luck.

Woot! Yesterday was my brunch & knitting day with a friend, but we did no snacking. Good girls!Β11/19 β 196.2
Not sure what Iβve changed exactly, but I seem to be on the right track. π11/20Β β 196.4
Weβve been trying some of the meal subscription programs over the past few monthsβstarted with Hungry Root, moved on to Home Chef. Food was good with both, but DH does much of the cooking, and he was starting to complain about the time it took to prepare meals (granted Iβd probably make them in less time, but didnβt volunteer π€ͺ). I wasnβt happy with the caloriesβboth of those seem to think 700+ per meal is βcalorie conscious.β Not if youβre 5β3β and over 70! Anyway, now weβre two weeks in with Tempo and weβre both loving it! We can each choose our meals, so he gets his pastas etc. and I get ~400 calories. Theyβre ready to microwave, but never frozen, so everything is as if just preparedβmeats are tender and juicy, veggies perfectly cooked. We just heat and plate (to feel more civilized) and enjoy. For us, itβs slightly more expensive than scratch, but no wasted food forgotten in the fridge, so probably really about the same. I just thought Iβd mention in case anyone is considering services.Β11/21 β DNW

Not much to report! Iβve been doing a little more clearing outβIβd say decluttering, but after all the moving around we did for 10 years, we donβt really have much clutter. But I do have things Iβm no longer using, and so far Iβve donated some skinny clothes π₯², taken some books to the used book store, sold or given away some of my dog-show equipment, and tossed some old files (because do I really need vet records going back 30 years?). Now Iβm thinking of cleaning out the shelves in my office/knitting room closet. Most of it is things Iβve madeβwatercolors I no longer hang and am very unlikely to in the future, a few spare copies of my books (I.e., books I wrote), some weird stuff Iβll never use again. Iβve found in the past that clearing such places makes me feel lighter, which in turn inspires me to be lighter. Such a strange mental link, but itβs there. Other than that, Iβve been doing a lot of knitting and listening to audiobooks and music and pondering how to cozy up my living room. All of which seems to make for less snacking! I do have the holiday baking itch, but Iβm resisting. Have a lovely Saturday, all!

11/19-133-Made it to my RGW. Heading to my dadβs today. Made him enchilada casserole with just a few corn tortillas and lots of chicken. Will only spend one night and head back home.11,22-134-Lots of driving in the last two days but glad to be home and back on track for getting things done around here. Was able to visit my 88 y.o. dad and his 91 y.o. brother.

@deepwoodslady -Donna-the recipe I use is for chicken enchiladas but I layered it in a pan with a few corn tortillas instead of rolling them up with a bunch of flour tortillas (aiming for low carb). I chop up cooked chicken and add cream of chicken soup, sour cream, a can of green chilis,and cumin. I put green sauce in the bottom of the pan, a thin layer of corn tortillas and 1/2 of the chicken mix, top with cheese and pour green enchilada sauce over that and top with another layer of corn tortillas. Repeat with chicken mix, cheese then drench in sauce, adding more cheese when itβs almost done heating. I can make that the night before and just heat it when I get there. My dad is easy going, my mom used to say you could fry horse crap and he would eat it.π Karen

That kept it at goal. 30 minutes of planned exercise. Horrible sleep last night due to no blood getting to my feet and toes (again). This happens several days per week. I am thankful and grateful that the past couple of nights have been good but last night was truly a nightmare. I need the opposite of elevating them and it seems there is nothing that can be done unless I just stand upright in the middle of the room and try to sleep! π¦π¦π¦π¦ 11/22- 179.6 βοΈ (Trend Weight:180.8 ) Well, I was hoping for a better drop since my last weigh-in two days ago but apparently not. I was not feeling very well yesterday. Couldnβt put my finger on it but I felt too weak to even exercise. I was proud of my son though. He exercised without me and he has never done that before! I really couldnβt eat until pretty late last night when the glucose began dropping and I had to, quite quickly. Although I pre-logged, it was too elaborate of a dinner for how I felt and how quickly I needed it. I ended up with a can of soup and too many Ritz crackers. It seems like I gained last time I ate soup too. Anyhow, my calories for the day were 936, my carbs over goal but still under what a βnormal personβ eats. I donβt always understand the numbers but Iβm moving on and hoping for more cooperation from my body today. I will try to get my exercise in since Iβm feeling somewhat better but not quite 100% yet.

11/23 173.6 Iβm not sure how accurate this is as Iβm all out of whack with my sleep and eating schedule. I pushed through yesterday and alternated little cat naps with productivity.
Productivity might actually be a reach, letβs call it βkeeping busyβ. I was raking and blowing leaves during the afternoon no sleep stupor realizing that I wasnβt sure that I was actually accomplishing anything. Just blowing leaves around!I ate too much sugar and not enough protein. I need to adjust that today. I did crush high cardio body combat but not at peak performance- a bit of humility when just surviving a workout is the goal.
Lifting with my girl gang this morning and then spending the afternoon eating weird Japanese Kit Kats with my niece and nephews.
Clearing surfaces to begin creating the Christmas decorating wonderland that gives my DH the warm fuzzy nostalgic feelings. I love his excitement for the traditions weβve created.

11/17: 146.3: I mostly stayed on track yesterday. Overall, it was a good weekend that didn't derail me. I got a lot of cleaning done and made some soup for throughout the week. I squeezed in a shorter than usual walk, but at least it was something.
11/18: 148.8. What?!? Very disappointed with this number, I have no explanation for it. My body fluctuates so much for no reason.
11/19: 147.7. I did lots of walking, ate well, not much snacking. I was hoping the scale would go back down a little more, but glad it's a better number than yesterday.
11/20: 149.6. I do not feel like this is deserved. I had some tortilla chips with my taco soup (homemade) for a bit of extra sodium and some dried pineapple. 11/22: 148.9. To be honest, I'm feeling a bit deflated with my lack of progress. I gained the weight back so quickly, but now it's not budging while trying to get it down. I really thought I ate well the last several days. Exercise is a bit low, since my leg pain is preventing me from doing much other than walking. I have been pretty stressed lately, with one of my boys seemingly going through some sort of obnoxious phase (at least I hope it's just a phase...), but blaming it on stress seems like a bit of a cop out. I honestly don't know what I can do differently to see results.
11/23: 148.4. I hung out with one of my little guys yesterday, the other one was spending some time with Gramma. Lots of walking to playgrounds. Got caught in the rain a couple of times. I need to find time to make a quinoa salad for the week.

I was last home before this in March the difference in my dad from then to now is so saddening. I hate how dementia robs people of themselves. Unless something comes up I will not be home again till March/April. Mom is ageing quickly now too. She has gone from an energic woman who no one thought was that old to an older woman. I was shocked at how much she has aged, I also realize that really she is just looking her age now.3 -

@_JeffreyD_ Your DGD is so precious! Happy Birthday to her! I have 3 red-headed children myself. Here is a picture from 2024 which shows them all together at my oldest DD's graduation getting her early education degree. Left is Foodie DD I often speak of. Teeny little one! She is 31. Middle is oldest daughter who is 42. Like me, weight is something she has to work at. She is very active, eats healthy and works out regularly but it does not come easy to her like Foodie. And to the right is my son who is 29. He is my only natural son and is the one with autism that I sometimes speak about. He still lives with me in his own "basement apartment". He has some pretty horrible autism-related (sensory) eating disorders and dieting is difficult with him but we work on it continuously. He has recently lost nearly 10 lbs so I'm very proud of his progress. I also have a son who I raised since age 4 from my 2nd hubby. He is a blonde and was not able to be there that day so not in the pic. We are very close. My 3 natural children are all from my 1st hubby. They get their dark red hair from his side of the family.
Below is me on the same day. I am about 9 lbs lighter right now than then, but that dress did help cover the lumps, bumps and squishies. The 9 lbs are gone now, but the lumps, bumps and squishies are not!

Couldnβt put my finger on it but I felt too weak to even exercise. I was proud of my son though. He exercised without me and he has never done that before! I really couldnβt eat until pretty late last night when the glucose began dropping and I had to, quite quickly. Although I pre-logged, it was too elaborate of a dinner for how I felt and how quickly I needed it. I ended up with a can of soup and too many Ritz crackers. It seems like I gained last time I ate soup too. Anyhow, my calories for the day were 936, my carbs over goal but still under what a βnormal personβ eats. I donβt always understand the numbers but Iβm moving on and hoping for more cooperation from my body today. I will try to get my exercise in since Iβm feeling somewhat better but not quite 100% yet.

One on the traditional day of the 27th, and the family Feast held at my house on the 29th when everyone can attend. This is not going to be an easy week to uphold any losses Iβve accomplished of late. I must hold on, tooth and nail, as best as I can. December is going to be even harder!

11/22-134-Lots of driving in the last two days but glad to be home and back on track for getting things done around here. Was able to visit my 88 y.o. dad and his 91 y.o. brother.11;23-133- Iβm at my GW but we are taking MIL to a concert and dinner. Had a bowl of beans and cheese and will have a light dinner.
