  • See damnit, no I cant stop.....Love SOD, MOD, DRI, Anthrax (NEW ALBUM KICKS *kitten*!!!) White Zombie, Disturbed, Death Angel, Tool, pretty much any classic rock. Slayer, Death, Ozzy, Sabbath, Dangerous toys...

    SOD/MOD/DRI this dude knows whats up!

  • Man, saw Stone Sour just last summer here, doesn't Corey Taylor put on just a h*ll of a good show, regardless of whether he's with Slipknot or Stone Sour?

    It was crazy. Stone Sour played with Flyleaf and Disturbed. I went solely for Stone Sour, stayed for Flyleaf, and left before Disturbed's encore (if there was one). Corey Taylor was amazing. Voice was blasting and the audience was stoked. Even mashed three of his slower songs together into one so the crowd didn't lose any adrenaline. Though I'm not a Disturbed fan, the singer's voice (his name escapes me) was exactly like their recordings. No tuning necessary there.
    Then there's Tool, with Maynard doing exactly the opposite, hiding in shadow from his audience, and connecting viscerally...

    The Tool concert was my highschool graduation present. It was amazing. The opener didn't even have a singer but everyone dug it. Maynard pretty much sat through the whole thing on a stool, wearing a cowboy hat and a Puscifer t-shirt. So awesome.

    I remeber seeing tool in late 97 or 98 with the melvins and maynard came out in mime paint with a pair tits! funniest thing ever

    I didn't get to go this year :( I went about three years maybe four years ago. There were so many awesome bands. Opeth, Iced Earth and In flames were my favorites. There were just soooo many, I can't even remember them all.

    I live in MO and every summer since 07 Oklahoma has "Rocklahoma". The first year was 23 hair bands..... White Lion, Enuff Z Enuff, Y&T, Crue, Ratt, Quiet Riot (summer before Debrow died) Queensryche, Twisted Sister in full make-up, LA Guns, Skid Row, Warrant, Poison, Winger, Firehouse, Faster *****cat, Bullet Boys, Bang Tango, Jackyl, Steelheart, Britny Fox.

    Dont care for all the bands, but was awesome to see bands I knew I would never get to see again. It was a campground, got their Friday night, stayed until Sunday night. Amazing!

    If anyone cares... I just (like one minute ago) read that as of 9/12/11 Johan Lindstrand is back in The Crown, returning the band to its original 5 members. They will be playing a couple shows in Sweden this year, recording a new album in early 2012 (!!!!!!!!!!!), and hitting the European festival circuit next year.

    There are few words to describe how stoked I am about this. I love The Crown more than almost anything else in the whole world.

  • ever wonder difference between the sub-genres of heavy metal? this is good for some laughs

    How To Tell The Difference Between Metal Genres

    * POWER METAL
    The protagonist arrives riding a white unicorn, escapes from the dragon, saves the princess and makes love to her in an enchanted forest.

    * THRASH METAL
    The protagonist arrives, fights the dragon, saves the princess and ****s her.

    * HEAVY METAL
    The protagonist arrives on a Harley, kills the dragon, drinks a few beers and ****s the princess.

    * FOLK METAL
    The protagonist arrives with some friends playing accordions, violins, flutes and many more weird instruments, the dragon falls asleep (because of all the dancing). Then all leave…….. without the princess.

    * VIKING METAL
    The protagonist arrives in a ship, kills the dragon with his mighty axe, skins the dragon and eats it, rapes the princess to death, steals her belongings and burns the castle before leaving.

    * DEATH METAL
    The protagonist arrives, kills the dragon, ****s the princess and kills her, then leaves.

    * BLACK METAL
    The protagonist IS the dragon, dwells in the heart of the night with in a castle full of hellhounds and eternal flames. He kills the sassy knight, ****s the noble steed and sacrifices the princess to Satan.

    * GORE METAL
    The protagonist arrives, kills the dragon and spreads his guts in front of the castle, ****s the princess and kills her. Then he ****s the dead body again, slashes her belly and eats her guts. Then he ****s the carcass for the third time, burns the corpse and ****s it for the last time.

    * DOOM METAL
    The protagonist arrives, sees the size of the dragon and thinks he could never beat him, then he gets depressed and commits suicide. The dragon eats his body and the princess as dessert. That’s the end of the sad story.

    * PROGRESSIVE METAL
    The protagonist arrives with a guitar and plays a solo of 26 minutes. The dragon kills himself out of boredom. The protagonist arrives to the princess’ bedroom, plays another solo with all the techniques and tunes he learned in the last year of the conservatory. The princess escapes looking for the ‘HEAVY METAL’ protagonist.

    * GLAM METAL
    The protagonist arrives, the dragon laughs at the guy’s appearance and lets him enter. He steals the princess’ make up and tries to paint the castle in a beautiful pink colour.

    * NU METAL
    The protagonist arrives in a run down Honda Civic and attempts to fight the dragon but he burns to death when his moronic baggy clothes catch fire.

    * GRINDCORE
    The protagonist arrives, screams something completely undecipherable for about two minutes and then leaves…

    * Gothic Metal
    The princess in a velvet costume starts singing soprano. The protagonist completes the duet when he shows up, they sing while the dragon plays the flute. Suddenly the dragon swallows up the pipe and accidentally scorches the beauty and the protagonist, and then he suffocates to death. All their souls are damned in hell for eternity.

    * Industrial Metal
    The protagonist arrives wearing greasy overcoat, makes an obscene gestures towards dragon, and gets escorted out of fairy tale land by security guards.

    * Speed Metal
    Suddenly there is a short solo, the dragon is confused; someone’s screaming weird stuff; the princess realizes she’s been deflowered; the dragon and the princess are still looking for the one who caused this.

    * Christian Metal
    The protagonist rides in on his way home from Church and sings a mushy power ballad to the dragon

    Because A7X is LAME! haha. I DO like old Mudvayne though. Old old.

    A7X was here at EdgeFest this year, along with Skillet, Stone Sour, Three Days Grace, Seether, Theory Of A Deadman, Sevendust, Helmet, Halestorm, My Darkest Days and Art Of Dying. And while they were definitely good, my favorite bands were Skillet . Sevendust, and Stone Sour, with an honest nod Boy Howdy to Seether. Of course A7X were the last band, and my whole *kitten* and my face had been thoroughly rocked off by then, so maybe I just didn't have enough bada$$ left in me for A7X... But I left before they were done.

    Moshed at Slipknot and lived to tell about it...
    Moshed at Disturbed and Drowning Pool with the guys from both bands, and lived to tell about it...
    Moshed at Revolting C*cks and Ministry, and well, I didn't exactly live to tell about it, but I got a cool scar.
    Moshed at Five Finger Death Punch and found out I only need four.
    Moshed at Rob Zombie and WHAT THE H*LL WAS THAT???

    Wanna mosh at Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, Mushroomhead, and pretend to fit in at Lacuna Coil before i finally do die in the pit. I'm only 45, there's still time.

    Nope, no metalheads here...

    anyone like Lamb of God??? I'm not a huge metal head, but I love them (mostly ashes of the wake) and I like Fear Factory.

    My friend is into very heavy so when I go out with her she puts it on. She recently put on lamb of god, and i really really like some of them!! I am normally into trance stuff, but she had to make me a copy of one of her albums so i can headbang in the car!!
