  • Ody kind of took a step back today. They turned off the ventilator to see what Ody would do and Ody did not breathe. Now they have to decide how to proceed from here. I am bummed. I really thought Ody would breathe despite it not being the most likely outcome. His lungs are not as clear as they were yesterday either. His lower left lungs muscles are weak so they don't stay open like they should. This is part of the problem and the other part is that Ody is still having fevers and has been for over 2 weeks. They don't know what is causing them.

Kelly- If you figure out how to make good food choices most of the time, please tell me the secret. I am glad Rosie is doing better.

Jacque- have you heard anything from your interview? How is the south Beach diet going?

Barb- I miss you. I hope things are going good for you.

    hi all.

me and Tanner went to the city this am...he needed a new jacket and his battery is not working for his computer. they are going to mail him a new one tomorrow. glad it's included in the service agreement. got a few groceries, oh yes, the bananas. stopped at Arby's for lunch and home by noon. watered some of my plants outside. very dry here. we are having our Indian summer I believe, so yard work needs to get done.

Angie...when I am NOT in my rut, planning and preparing as much ahead of time really works. just not in that mode right now. NO mode, seriously. hope Ody is getting stronger...thinking of you guys and praying. take care!!

Hello to the rest of the gang...
  • They took Ody off the ventilator today and put him on a bypap machine. It helps open Ody's lungs. He is breathing on his own and is doing ok. He is still not out of the woods yet but if things keep going like they are for the next 24 hours. They will start weening him from that. They still don't know what is causing his fevers. Did a bunch of test today but no results yet. Will keep you posted. I am going to bed. I'll check in tomorrow.

dh pulled out a bush in front of our house, then a wahoo tree that was damaged by a storm this summer (one less thing to mow around:wink: ). removed some outdated plumbing in our basement (old shower fittings). my mom has to have surgery on a finger Fri (guess it's been locking on her). leaves are really turning this week. lots of yellows! maybe we'll go for a drive this weekend.

the best thing about today is that I have been GOOD! logged all my food, at calories...so proud of my diary, it looks right on! gonna have grilled cod for supper, steamed green beans and strawberries! **positive**

thinkin' of everyone..take care love ya.

HI all. Emotionally had ups & downs. Court was yesterday and there's a potential positive. I say potential because I think my ex husband will attempt to block me seeing the kids.

I did create an Eharmony profile in August. I have been seeing one guy from that site. Mike and I have a great deal in common. It's a comfortable, easy going, no pressure relationship. Feel both of us are accepting each other as they are. Our past mistakes made us who we are today. We get involved in our conversations we lose track of time.

Weight wise. I went up overnight then dropped overnight. Sigh....

Health wise I estimate I had several episodes of low blood sugar in the past few weeks. I did contact the diabeties counselor my health insurance assigned to me. She and I discussed what happened to me and questions/concerns I should raise to my doctor at Friday's appointment.

My roommate left. YEAH..... she did leave 2 sundresses and 4 bottles of cheap beer. Gross......

Haven't done any new home projects.... my Eharmony friend does have electrical and plumbing background plus a dept manager at for a Home Depot. So guess who is installing my new outdoor lighting.... Yup... Mike is... He is already assembling my metal loveseat glider. Once done, the glider will be outside by the firepit. Romantic yes... it will be.

Been thinking.... Atlantic City anyone? For a long weekend? It's not like Vegas....but hey....

did some filing today ICK. for the most part food has been good, but I did have a few Pringles. baking a pineapple/cherry pie filling/cake mix/pecan dessert. having salad for supper and the guys are grilling hot dogs. blech.

Barb..hope all goes well at Dr appt...keep us informed. Diabetes is scary. Really hoping things go your way and you can see your kiddos soon! Mike sounds like a nice gentleman & handyman! have fun gliding! :blushing: AC is fine with me! Next Spring? Summer? Think it was about this time a year ago we started our talk of Vegas. I'm hoping Scott & I will get away for our 25th (Feb/Mar)...and it's possible I may be going to Vegas with some of his family, but don't know when. Nothing is planned yet and of course, money is a concern. I definitely want to get together with all of you!

    Have a good eve.
  • A quick update: Ody is doing better and has been fever free for almost 48 hours!!!!!!!!:bigsmile:Yesterday when I got to see he smiled and he was a wake and somewhat alert. Tonight he was sleepy. I hope if Ody continues to improve he will get to come home soon. Thank you for all the prayers. Have a great night. :)

    good afternoon.

dh and I decided we need to replace our kitchen and dining room linoleum. it is 15+ years old (what we had put in when we did a remodel at move in). It is HIGH traffic..door to the backdoor/basement & sliding glass doors to our deck/garage. it is all the same but 2 pieces. where they meet it is coming apart. It has actually been looking pretty bad for a good 2-3 yrs now, and I didn't realize how bad it really is until I got down on my hands and knees and scrubbed it. It is pretty much white with 8x8 tan block design. The backing is starting to come thru to the top and there are so many cuts, nicks, dents. we are looking into laminate wood flooring and I am soooo confused. I have no idea what color to go with. our cupboards are a honey oak as is the window and baseboard trim and our dining table is a light oak. I have been doing tons of research all weekend and I am in love with too many options. the gray walls with white cupboards/trim and dark floors, and granite looking counter top (that is bad too). I like how the dark wood floors just pop with the white trim. I also like the dark cupboards (cherry) with very light floor and black counter. we don't plan on replacing our cupboards, but I am willing to paint if it would look nice. have researched that too....whole other project. Another thing I kinda like is the warm feeling. Our kitchen right now has black stove front/white top, black dishwasher, white frig and black microwave. These are all 15+ yrs old. If and when we have to buy new, we are leaning towards stainless steel or black. our counter top is white. Accent colors are a very dark brown vertical/wide panel blinds at deck door and sheer light blue valance curtains. rugs are either dark browns or navy blue. a small desk, china cupboard and standing cupboard are more of the dark brown color. My brain is so tired of thinking about what to do plus, the main thing, $$. dh will have to work some OT. do any of you have experience with laminate wood floors? I just don't know if I am ready for a dark floor when we have always had white. I am sure dark will show dust and dog hair, but if I love it enough I won't care...plus we kinda have small rooms. three of our bedrooms have original hardwood floors with area rugs on them. I do love the hard wood. Will be going to look at different brands this week. hopefully it will help.

hgtv has been on ALL DAY LONG...

hope all is well with everyone...
  • Just a quick check in. Ody was moved to a regular room tonight. :) Hopefully if everything goes well he will come home Thursday. If I don't get a chance to check in that much, know you guys are in my thoughts. I am hope to spend more time at hospital since Zan can visit Ody now. Then I will be busy with both boys for a while. I have got to get to bed. Have a great night.

Good news about Ody. Really good news. Happy to hear.

Kelly, you've got yourself a project.

Here's a quick update w/me. Weight fluctuating up/down. I haven't been to kickboxing as often as I wanted to. Of course new beau is taking me out to resturants. Hey, won't complain, this one is putting me on a pedestal and it's wonderful.

Let me know when AC is ideal for folks. Note -- it's not like Vegas....
Funding for me is tight right now so I do need to wait until income taxes.

    Take care. Barb

    evenin'...

went and looked at flooring again today. I think we have it narrowed down to a very light, hickory or maple. I am considering painting most of the window trim and baseboards white. Some day...all our windows will be replaced and they will be a white vinyl. Once we get the floor started I am going to be painting, a lot. Most of our rooms have not been painted for 15 yrs. I think I am going to try and go with one main color and just do different shades throughout the house. Thinkin grey or cream/beige. warm colors? It's ironic that the ad just to the right of this reply box is one of the shades we are considering...it's for Nextag..Seize Today's Top Bargains!

AC....April is ok. Both sons will be grad from College in early May. Summer is free! Nothing is planned but we are celebrating our 25th next year. I am hoping we will be going somewhere. Even tho we are spending here, we are slowly getting ahead. I just gotta keep a watchful eye on stuff I don't need.

Kelly --- come to my house & we'll have a painting party. Then I'll go to your house for a painting party.

My next room to paint is my bedroom. Primer is needed to cover up the previous owner's stenciled paint border.
I did purchase the paint for the walls and the doors. Doors won't be painted until I replace the doors to a newer more modern look.
And w/my new beau a Dept Manager at a Home Depot, I think I won't have a problem getting the items I need. "Honey, would you grab xyz for me when your shift is over?. " Or "Hon, the next time you come over would you mind bringing xyz from the store?"

Chime in ladies w/Atlantic City date ideas.

back to am/pm route/shuttle routine....usually done by 4:30 now. gives me more time to prep supper..even better if I've planned.

got home this am and wanted to tackle the leaves...with the blower. dark clouds ALL around me..rain imminent. quickly do the deck, sidewalks...hear loud thunder but don't see lightning. eh, ok, nearby. keep at it. go to front of house and do driveway...wind picks up, then huge, HUGE drops of rain are pelting me...and CRASH!! saw lightning basically in my front yard. done right then and there. just the beginning of the leaf job.

my living room is completely dusted...inside the secretary and end tables, ceiling fan, moved furniture, vacuumed it and everywhere...*webstered* the walls and ceiling. now if the sheers were washed, I'd say Fall cleaning done.

    eating well today..so far.

I guess I need to look at 2 more stores for flooring before we make the final decision. probably go tomorrow.

I'm soooo ready to paint. Can't wait to be DONE..and I haven't even started!!

AC...anytime in April...not Easter tho. Not first 2 weeks in May. Any time in the summer is good.

spiders and their webs....AWESOME! i have the coolest pic of one on my deck around a light. it was dark and the light is on. i don't have a prob with them...but Tanner does! he is pretty much bug phobic! we have the plug in thingy's that only bugs can hear, lots of bug spray, etc. he screams and freaks out and i am still "saving" him...he is 19. this is someone that hunts, fishes..

i did get a a nasty bite one time...had to be while sleeping. it swelled up huge, even had the red line following my vein/artery. it was filled with pus and I was scared to pop it, but new what the red line meant. as soon as I broke it open the red line left...and it took almost 3 weeks for it to heal. ick.

in-laws visited for about an hour. i think the guys are going muzzle loader hunting this weekend.

well, I had a good day with my food. lets hope I can be good til bedtime!
  • A quick check in. Ody is supposed to come home tomorrow! I just finish cleaning and disinfecting the most of the house. I only have the kitchen left and it the worse but Ody never goes in there. I left it last so if it don't get done before he comes home it will be ok because Ody never goes in there. Way past bedtime. Good night ladies.

    Hi all...

Kelly, I have a large spider & web on part of my garage exterior wall & a planter. I had to take a picture of the spider then looked up what kind of spider it was on the internet. All good.

Well, on Mike's day off he replaced my exterior garage light w/a new light that is much BRIGHTER. He also fixed the lighting in my fish tank. He started on replacing my exterior light by the sliding glass door then realized the wiring isn't right so he'll fix that soon. Ladies, he's a keeper on many levels.

    Weight was 176.2 this am
Improvement I think it was 179 or 178 last week. I was too embarrassed to report it.
Overall, higher than I want... but now I see it's the numbers coming down so I feeling better.

    Back to work.

Angie - good news for Ody.

back to the city today and went to 1 more store. WOW! they had AmAzInG carpet!! brought more samples home. so, hopefully if the sun stays shining, we can make a decision tonite! I'm so excited to get this done!

    enjoy your day ladies!

down 1.2 didn't do so well around supper time. made some pumpkin bars and had about 2 bites. (keepin' it hid in the microwave today!) goulash and garlic toast for supper. again had small servings. normally I would avoid this stuff. wonder if that's why I fail. too many restrictions. might get a journal and start keeping track of the food I eat. not necessarily the calories...just food and maybe quantity. I already know I eat too many carbs and not enough veggies. Water could be better.

last activity trip with Varsity football tonite. hope to be home around midnite or so.

have yourselves a a good Friday and an awesome weekend team! love to all:heart:

Got to visit with Tyler for about an hour today. His ankle is bruised badly from the sprain. Missed 2 days of school and can't work til next week. Shaved his beard off and looks younger! wish he was staying longer...

won our last away game..it was pretty exciting! Up next, wrestling, which will start in December.

I thought I was getting better with this throat/head gunk, but all nite I had a barky/dry/hoarse cough. Chest feels tight. Will take some syrup and drink something warm. kinda feel achy. I am goin to the city again to see if I can find some lighter wood flooring. Scott is muzzle loader hunting with his dad at the farm and Tanner will be heading to IA City for the Hawkeye game. Looks like a pretty day ahead. Need to blow some leaves too.

    take care

    good afternoon..

well, we have made a decision on our floor. going with Natural Berkshire Maple. Hopefully it will be ordered Monday, picked up Thursday and installed....soon? The 2 places that had it (identical) were $ 1.30 difference in price. That's over $500 in savings total sq ft.

busy week coming up...bus trip tomorrow, flu shot and early out Tues (end of quarter), 3 hr bus safety course Wed, bonfire at my folks Saturday and family gathering/Thanksmas at my inlaws Sunday.

Yay!!! got my computer back! Didn't lose any files or pics either. I really hate that I have become so dependent on this thing. Sorry MIA. I was able to log on my phone my weight was 248 last Friday. But it won't let me do the community thing. So I am thikin of laying off meat fro awhile to see if that will help. Started walking yesterday, plan to walk after work today. My brother and neice came in from Seattle Friday. Spent the whole weekend with them and of course ate too much so I got to refocus and start a fresh today. Hope everyone is doing well.
