The LOTR movies are even better than the books, which is saying a lot.

No. No, no, no. Please tell me you are kidding. Please don't make me lose faith in humanity.

LOTR, Star Wars, Harry Potter and then the other ****.

Yes, A wise person among us!:drinker:

For me it's Lord of the Rings b/c I like the sub stories. Star Wars is good when I'm in the mood for a good ol' fashioned western - that's what Star Wars is after all: a space western complete w/ white hats for the goodies & black hats for the baddies. Harry Potter is a nice place to visit if you don't count the last chapter/scene. I've never seen Twilight so I won't weigh in on that one.

And I'm gonna add that it's a tie.

    They all lose.

    Star Wars!
  • Twilight RANT: How is it that so many (particularly YOUNG) women do not see the allusions to repeat-pattern abusive relationships? (She is perpetually and willingly at-risk throughout the majority of the series--and young women just absorb her mentality--such a WEAK women, terrible role model...)

Movie: Star Wars - ONLY the originals.
Book: A better choice, please? ;)

Lord of the Rings. Hands down. I liked the old Star Wars but Luke couldn't act. The new ones sucked. And yeah, Twighlight entertains me but it's nothing compared to Lord of the Rings. Plus LOR has the books, which I've read at least twice.

Well....since I was 12 years old in 1979, the only choice is Star Wars.

Oh, but I've never read any of the Harry Potter movies and have only seen the first 2 movies. I think I'll start reading them to my kids in a few years. Someone told me the first book was good to read to first graders....

    Lord of the Rings

Do you people have no taste? EPICNESS!!!
However, I will add that LOTR is so damn amazing because of the books. Read them.

Star Wars and LOTR are in a totally different category than Twilight.

SW and LOTR (the books more than the movies in the case of LOTR) are cultural icons and have effected people for generations. I love them both.

Twilight is the equivalent of mental bubble gum. Enjoyable, but not a lot of substance. It's a passing phase and will be largely forgotten in 10 years time. I've read all the books and seen the movies. I'll even admit to reading Twilight fanfic. But you gotta take it for what it is and it'll never be on par with classics like Star Wars and LOTR.

I've only seen the 1st HP movie and barely remember it. For some reason I've never picked up the books. I need to though, it seems like something I'd enjoy.

Disclaimer: I'm only talking about the original SW trilogy here. I don't really like eps 1-3 at all.

    Also, Han shot FIRST!

Star Wars is EPIC and none of the other movies will ever come close to eclipsing it! The characters are known practically everywhere in the world. Also, Star Wars set the standard (besides Star Trek) for upcoming science fiction/fantasy movies!
