Oklahoma Common room

Hey fellow Okies. Is anyone interested in having a room where all of us can come to gather? It would be nice to see what other MFP Okies had to say. We could share ideas on restaurants, places to work out, events, attractions, etc. And people from different parts of the state could probably find new friends right acroos town or down the street. No real structure in mind, just a place for all of us to make some new friends and get to know each other.
I moved here in 1997 but still don't know a whole lot about what the area has to offer because I don't get out much except for work, etc. Just seeing if there was any interest. Hope there is. I have several MFP friends from the area and could always use more. Have a great day!!

Yes! I've had a hard time even finding friends on mfp that live close by so it would be a great idea I think

    Near Tulsa here

Great Idea! I moved down here in 2006 and am still learning about the state. I really love the people in the state. Feel free to add me if you would like. I live in Shawnee.

I am from Illinois originally so I am not a die hard fan for either team but I live in the OKC metro and root for the Sooners mainly because of proximity.

OKC mid-town here and I think it would be cool to here from others that are around me. Has anyone been brave enough to try out the new Whole Foods? The parking lot has been crazy enough for me to stay away.

and since we seem to be adding our school allegiance here too..... Go Pokes!
  • My husband and I are both on here. We are in the Tulsa/Owasso area. Moved here 4 years ago and still learning about new places.

I know there are a few MFP friends that if they were in the region I wouldn't mind meeting for lunch once per month or something. I know all the years I was really heavy turned me into a major introvert and it would have been nice to get together with like minded people. I have a really cool MFP friend up in ElReno who has suggested having lunch. Just have to coordinate work schedules, etc.
Little things like that just make you feel so appreciated for who you are, not what you look like, etc. Some great people on this whole site.

Cool! I love working here. Great people and great benefits. Patients are always asking why I seem happy since I am stuck here everyday like they are. I say because I am getting paid to be here and you're not. LOL

No just not mentioning it so when you get served with the restraining order, it will be a surprise. LOL

I'm in! Live in Broken Arrow :-). I grew up in Tulsa, lived in Dallas and Missouri for a while, so I know quite a few places that are great, unfortunately that's why I'm on MFP :-)

Yes there are a ton of them if only they think to search they will find this room. Just got home from going to see The Thing at Tinseltown. It was good. It is a prequel to the 1984 version. The very last scene is the same as the first scene of the '84 movie. The guy in the helicopter shooting at the dog. I remember in the older version saying why the heck are they shooting at this dog. LOL

Went to a new restaurant in Yukon. It is called Hensley's TOP Shelf. Great food. Prices not too bad. My brother's meal was blackened chicken fettuccine, with jumbo shrimp and added a house salad for a total of $24.00. Mine was only $14.00 as I just ordered a nice salad with hand breaded chicken on top and a bowl of black bean soup (which was great). The salad was delicious as they had jalapeno-ranch dressing (Yummy).

I knew they were going to win but it was too close at halftime. I wanted to blow them out as the first BCS standings will be released tomorrow evening. Thank goodness the idiot AP poll isn't included in the BCS ranking system. I say if you are ranked #1, you shouldn't go down unless you lose. So hopefully we will be officially #1 this time tomorrow!! OSU will be higher as well!

Just drove through there a couple of weeks ago when I drove home to Illinois to see family. I always stop halfway in Owasso. I like to drive 5 hours and relax at the hotel then drive 5 the next morning. Getting too old to drive 10 hours straight. LOL

I moved to Edmond 2 years ago from Upstate NY. My family and I love it here! I even have my niece here from Chicago attending UCO as a freshman this Fall. Some of my favorite places to eat healthy food are:

BJ's - they have a fantastic under 575 calorie menu
Cimarron's - You can't beat the price! Steak, green beans & salad are my go to choices
Charleston's - has a fantastic salmon caesar salad

I would like to know if anyone will be running in any upcoming 5K races? It would be nice to see a buddy at the race. I ran in the YWCA run on April 26th. Next year, I would like to run in 4 races.

Please feel free to friend me or email me.
