For me, I get onto the machine, turn on my music and start going... the whole time picturing the the person i could be, the person i should be, and the person i am going to be...

I people watch when doing weights and zone out and watch the tv during cardio. The gym walls are lined with them in the cardio section so there is plenty of programs to choose from. Judge Judy makes the time fly.0

I think about life in general. Things I've done, things I'd like to do...
Sometimes I just end up thinking about my classes and if I'm up to date on the work =/
When I work out in the morning I often think about the dreams I had and what they could mean.

some times I zone out...other times I look in the mirror and see my gut jiggling..which makes me work harder.

Yes, even I dont' want to workout....you can take the fat off the girl but sometimes you have to work at taking the girl out of the fat head LOL
Seriously, I actually listen to music I composed and wrote on my iPOD which totally keeps me feeling like I am in the recording studio working on a project.0 -

lol, this is really bad but I usually listen to an audio recording of one of my class lectures! :P If I'm running, at least I can't fall asleep while listening to it.0

I try to not think. That's my time to just blank out my mind. I usually have music on or am watching the tv. At the time I go, there is usually an NCIS or CSI or Law and Order: SVU on, so that helps the time go by!0

I think about how I used to feel when I was in shape. I flash back through my athletic accomplishments; the big hit/tackle, the goal or kick that won the game...and how in my current shape, I wouldn't physically be able to do that anymore (it drives me to run faster or push harder).
Sometimes I think about being on vacation or at the beach with my shirt off, and feeling proud, instead of embarrassed.0 -
Well, when I'm doing cardio, I always read, watch TV or listen to music so that keeps me occupied.
When I'm lifting I'm too busy counting out reps to really think of much.0 -

I enjoy listening to Enigma or Enya. Visioning myself running in the rainforest and getting lost in another world! Those Indian chants in the back ground really get's me going!! So much heartache and suffering.......but in the end it brings peace. Weird but...it get's me moving!!!0

I'm focused on doing the exercise correctly so I get the full benefits of doing it and don't get injured. Also, I'm trying to think that I'm having fun or at least getting healthier and stronger. This motivates me. AND if we're being honest... I am thinking the people in the best shape sometimes look as silly as me and that thought puts a smile on my face :happy:0

I picture me...What is wrong with me, are people watching me. OMG I wonder how much jiggling is going on around my mid zone. I kind of beat myself up when it comes to working out. I hate the fact that I am so hard on myself but I am and it is one of my downfalls when it comes to working out.0

Usually i just day dream and use my music as a kind of musical score to whatever I'm day dreaming about. I hate to look down at the machine and see that's it's only been a few minutes since i started so i try to escape into imagination land. But if there's a mirror in front of me then i usually look at myself and make sure that my posture is correct and focus on my breathing (especially when I'm doing strength training with weights)0

I watch the clock and go "two more minutes then we will take a two minute cool down..." or "Keep it above 85" I mostly ride the exercise bike and lately I've been challenging myself to improve my time. I've gone from a 5 minute mile to a 4 minute mile just by talking to myself about it. It's all in my head of course.
I also sometimes think about my day and/or what I'm gonna eat and/or any upcoming holidays/events :-)0 -
depends on what type of excersise. If it is the ones that I dont generally care for such as high speed aerobics, I am thinking,, omg when is it over... has it been enough time yet, lol. I would like to change this thinking and its something I am currently working on. However, if its something I enjoy such as aquatics or family excersies such as walk, jog or bike riding together, I love it. they keep me entertained and we enjoy each other during this time. Wish we all had time to do it more often together but we all got different busy scedules.0

It's really sad, but I think about the potential boyfriend/significant other I might get once I'm at a healthy weight. That's not why I'm losing weight, but I do hope it is a nice bonus to the whole weightloss thing. So I daydream about he and I.

well if i was with someone i didn't want to be with, i'd be fantasizing about who i'd rather be with. so.... when i'm exercising i'm thinking about what i'd rather be doing.
kind of the same concept, right?0
