Friend Requests...

I think I'm pretty picky. I don't want t huge friend list to begin with, so if I have friends who I don't know IRL, who requested me and never interacted with me, or sent a message, I'll delete them or not approve their request.
I don't send out many requests, but when I do I always send a message, because that's what I would want if the table were turned.
I kinda want to keep my feed personal and be very supportive with a few handfuls of friends, rather than virtually overwhelmed with 300. That's just me though.0 -
I will send a message along with the request, but i pretty much accept anyone who sends a request. I do like it, however, if those who friend me interact on occasion. I'm not sure why one would friend and not do that.
With that being said, Anyone here who wants to send a friend request, feel free to do so. I like supporting/motivating others and love it when i get the same.0 -
I accept everyone, why not?0

I've yet to decline a friend request... if people end up being jerks, I delete them. I usually send mine with a short message regarding why I'd like to be friends.0

I make sure there is something in common. Whether it is goal weight or a reason for being on here. I do expect my friends to support me because I make it a mission to support my friends. I've had to unfriend people because they weren't givers...just takers. If I send a request the profile is normally available for public view (picture not necessary). Unless I see a comment and reoccuring comments from someone that I feel will be a good match. This site has a social networking aspect to it, but unlike others, the intent is not to "collect" friends. ok...rambled enough.0

There are standards? We are still on MFP right? Or did MFP change into a junior high or high school?

Im not picky at all you send i accept......unless the person s profile pic looks like a seriel killer haha0

ACCEPTING:
Unless I've been corresponding with someone on a thread then I won't accept someone without a message from them.
For SENDING a request I guess it varies, some reasons:
1. the person has an inspirational body
2. they make wise/healthy/productive comments on threads
3. they seem cool and healthy (in general)0 -
I accept friends requests from anyone....my thought is you never know what that person is going through....and I don't base my decision on if that person is in a certain clique or not....but with that said I will delete there *kitten* if they step out of line....just sayin!!!!0

I prefer when people send a message, but I give everyone a chance. I just know I feel super cool that someone wants to be my friend! I get really disappointed when I sign on first thing and have no notifications (which happens a lot but, eh), truth. If that person turns out to be a douche...it's just as easy to delete them. I'm here for support and motivation and friendships are nice too!
As far as sending them...I don't do it often. Rejection is scary and I don't like it. So if you are my friend and I requested you, consider yourself risky business! :laugh:0 -
my biggest pet peeve is deleleting somebody because they don't interact
and then they request you again, to do the same thing.
It's very very very odd0 -
Give me a small reason why....even if its bull****...just dont leave it blank
So wow your hot works?0 -
I generally accept everyone. I send requests to people I see on the boards or on my friends pages. Sometimes I'll send a message and sometimes I won't. It just depends on how recently I have interacted with that person. If we just sent 3 or 4 messages back and forth to each other on a thread, then I think the reason is obvious why I am sending an FR.0

I always accept any that are sent to me.0

I dont normally send out requests... when I do I always forget to type a message...
I pretty much accept anyone .. so long as I don't get any creepy messages, I'm good. :bigsmile:0 -

I don't send many adds but I have sent messages relating to something specific on a thread and have then been friended by them. Most of my friends have come via various challenges, so we've had something in common, but some of the most supportive have been random adds that had no message attached!
I don't think I've rejected anyone so far . . . .0 -

I agree with this. I don't reject anyone and I have a great list of supportive, informed, interesting friends. The only time I have deleted people is when they have fallen off the face of the earth.0 -
I've never sent any but I always accept if someone sends me one whether they send a message or not.0

I'm very hippie-dippy when it comes to accepting friends. If you want my friendship, you got it. No need to discriminate! That's why I have so many, and I may have to get choosy some day. But for now, I accept everyone.
When I request friendships (very rare), I always send a message.
just like me!!!0 -
Nothing less of complete adoration.0

I will give any one a try but I don't need any negativity, I get that from my mother and sometimes my hubby( mostly cause he thinks I'm hot and I think not). I am here to help and everyone needs it sometimes, but I have recently posted some hard things for me that have been a excuse for my eating or refusing to eat since I have said it I have lost inches. I know that some things just have to get vented.0

I usually only ask for a friend if we have some sort of common interest. Ie age, kids, goals, etc. I don't get too many requests so I haven't found a reason to say no yet LOL0 -
I really don't send them often at all. I'm too afraid of rejection(such a dork)
I won't accept them unless they have a message
It's pretty widely known that it's polite to include a message
And also for the love of gravy why the hell do you request somebody you won't interact with? This irritates me.
Lmbo! My thoughts exactly!0
