Rats, I tried uploading my profile photos onto a website program (Flickr), and the embedded codes don't have "IMG" on the front or on the back. I am clueless how to show photos! But if you click on my avatar, you can see my photos. I am 5' 10", started nearly a year ago (November 2010) at 221, am now down to 149, a loss of 72 lbs. My current photo on my avatar shows me at about a 65 pound loss, so I've lost a bit more since then, and feel fantastic.
I was hoping against hope last November to lose maybe 40 pounds. I was 48.5 years old, and wanted to get down to some sort of normal range before I was 50, and thought "well, I'm almost 50, I'll never get down to "thin", I just want to be normal!". Within 4 months, I had lost 40 pounds. Within 6 months, I had lost about 60. I was ecstatic. Now I think I am at a lower weight than I was in high school. If I remember, I was a size 12 in high school, and now I'm fitting into size 8's. Single digit sizes!
I don't think I was EVER in the 140's (well, maybe in 8th grade!!!)....my goal has been met, but now I'm thinking if I can get to 145, that's a bit over 75 pounds lost and gives me some wiggle-room for fluctuating.1 -
Shame about the photos - I love seeing the comparisons. You have done really well - HUGE congratulations you must feel fantastic!Rats, I tried uploading my profile photos onto a website program (Flickr), and the embedded codes don't have "IMG" on the front or on the back. Well done you look fantastic!I LOVE this thread! I am 6' tall and wanna share my pictures with you... I'm not done with my journey but these show most of my progress. The first picture is my dad & I in fall of 2006, when I weighed 292 and hadn't begun my weight loss yet. The second picture is my dad & I on the day I got my degree (May 2011) and weighed about 187. I lost 105 pounds the slow/steady way over 5 years and am incredibly proud of myself!! Since then, I have lost another 7 pounds0

I know what you mean. I am 5'9'' and weigh 130 lbs. I look good at 130 but start to look heavy at about 140. These other women look absolutely fabulous at 180 lbs.... lucky girls!!! I don't know why, I think you are right about body frame and how a person carries their weight - you know like how well it is distributed versus carrying wight all in one or two places (buns & tummy).0
-
My before & durings are in my profile. I'm 5'10" ... started just over 230lbs and am now mid-170s...goal of mid-150's0

BUMP! 5'11 here!0
-
I've lost 4 more pounds since my last picture, so after I get a new one I'll post! Everyone looks fabulous!0

Bump - come on you tall ladies!!!0

Awesome! Great job everyone... this is great. I'm 5"11 and am glad I found this thread. I love seeing everyone's before and after pictures! I'm only about 20 pounds down so no pictures for me... YET!
I don't know if you guys have seen this, but there is a tall women group here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/109-tall-women0 -
I'm 5'10. Starting weight was 195lbs and I'm currently 155 with a GW of 140.0

I'm 5'11'', my goal weight is 190, as of today I'm at 220. It's really helpful to see the images we're sharing, I'm so sick of people saying it's okay to be big because I'm tall. I know there's a skinny girl in there somewhere : ]
June 2011: 253
October 2011: 2226 -
All of your pics look amazing!! I'm super hating right now as I am only 5 feet tall....I want some of that height LOL!!!1

Hello everyone! I'm ~5' 10" and started my weight loss journey in the fall of 2009. Lost 100 lbs by June 2010, then a lot of it crept back up. Now I'm back on the right path, but here are my before and 'during' pictures:
May 2008 at around 314 lbs
October 2011 I'm at 235

It all depends on how you are built and also what look you are trying to obtain. I know some tall women that look good weighing in at 140 and those that look just as slimming carrying 20 more lbs. Just gauge your own progress. When you feel comfortable and are at a healthy weight for your body frame then start to maintain.0 -
I am 5' 11" and am 42 years old. I've been overweight for 13 years. This is an update from my previous post in this forum.
In 8 ½ months here’s the stats on my losses…
42.5 Pounds Lost, 10% Body Fat Lost, and 5.9 BMI Lost. I was about to have to go up to a Size 18 (but never did - thankfully), and I'm currently a Size 10. I went from being considered “Overweight” to “Healthy.”
Measurement Lost Update:
Neck: -1.5”
Waist: -8.80”
Hips: -7.20”
Arm: -3.0”
Thighs: -10.00” (L & R thigh combined)
Bust: -7.05”
Calves: -1.5”
That's a TOTAL of: 39.05"
Picture on left: Late November 2010 (approx. weight: 200). My starting weight on MFP was 202.5. The two pictures on right are after I lost my first 7 pounds (195.5)

Hihi! I'm 5'11 (and a half).
Before at 206 lbs:
After at 180 lbs:
you look great!0 -
I'm 6 foot....I started at 226 and 5 weeks later I'm 208! I can't imagine ever being under 175-180, I'm pretty sure I would be too skinny! My goal is 185 and I'll go from there! I can't wait to post my result pictures. When I started my BMI put me in Obese and now I'm just overweight...so that's a plus!2

I love this thread! I'm 5'10 and my goal is 175 right now...we will see when I get there how I feel because "technically" that is still overweight...blah blah blah!! LOL
All of the women here look wonderful and it's nice to see them at my goal weight because everytime I share mine with someone they say "oh no that is too skinny you will look sick"...anyone else get that???
Anyway Good luck to all you fabulously tall women!0 -
Loving this thread. Funny, I'm 5'11" and ppl think I weighed 125 back when i weighed 150 and conversely 150 now that i weigh 171. Its weird but it's like tall women can hide 5 pounds much easier. Anyways, I love this thread. Great idea!0

everytime I share mine with someone they say "oh no that is too skinny you will look sick"...anyone else get that???
My co-workers think I should stop losing weight now (currently 235), and when I tell them that I want to lose another 60 lbs they ask where it's going to come from.0 -
nice thread!!
I am short compared to some on this, as I am 5'9"
I currently weigh 153.........would LOVE to be 143
My highest weight was 168 (maybe a bit more, never weighed myself too much). That was last February and since then have lost 15 pounds.
Being tall you can definatley 'hide' your weight a bit more. Just this past weekend I had to 'pinky swear' that I was 153,,,,,,,,she thought I was like 125, I wish!!
Anyways, someday I will post some pics (when I can find my camera!)0 -
BUMP.
I am 5'10" and at almost 30 lbs down. I will have to take some pics when I get to that point! It is totally true about being able to hide your weight -- I hit 285 (hadn't stepped on the scale in a while) and nearly cried. I was even hiding weight from myself. The next day I found MFP. I am hoping my graduation pictures will be the best pictures of me that have been taken in a long time.
You all are great inspiration and I am so happy for your ongoing success!0 -
I'm 6' and at my heaviest, I was 182. I did a challenge with my friends and family to see who could lose the most percentage of weight in 4 months. I ended up getting 2nd place, and weighed in at 163 pounds. I gained back about 10 pounds, and am currently working on getting back to where I was, I now was 166...so almost there! i'd like to get to 155 this time around!

And this is After:
