You don't LEARN anything about how to eat right from a pill. If a pill could "teach" or "train" us how to eat right, then why can't we just take a pill to learn a new language, or learn how to crochet, or learn how to play hockey? Why can't we give our dog a pill to "train" him how to pee and poop outside?

Healthy eating habits and healthy lifestyle changes develop with practice and commitment, and sometimes trial and error. You can't learn a new skills or new habits by taking a pill.

Sorry, it's just not that easy. Losing weight and becoming physically fit takes work.:flowerforyou:

you see being a bit smarter then a dog i can. I can use the medication to curb my appetite while learning how to prepare and serve a healthy properly proporitoned meal. then because i have higher though process then an animal, i know WHAT and HOW much i should really eat when i go off.

at that point its up to the person to control themselves to eat as they have learned or eat like a pig.

The problem with this is, you're using the pills as a crutch to curb your appetite. Eating foods that are high in protein will do a fantastic job at this.

Will never do diet pills again!!! I always gain more back when I go off of them. I'm so happy to lose what I have through diet and exercise this time.

I used to take xenical i think it was called,Its designed to teach of the foods you eat that are too high in fat.If you eat the food that too high in fat it lets you know in a big way - it turns the fatty food to oil and it deposits like Diarrhoea.I managed to eat things low in fat and I used the rule that any food that is 100g in WEIGHT has to be less than 5g of FAT...But i didn't lose weight on it.it taught me to eat healthier but thats it.

I wouldnt reccomend them. If you can teach yourself healthy eating habits that the key.

omg yall HAVE to try vyvanse if you like that feeling. you are SO much more focused in work/school or whatevs it's like mageic!! and it doesn't make you hungry so you can control prfectly what you eat! i for exaple do track& field and i know i have to eat sth before i have practice. but it's more controlled so you don't just dive into food whenever you feel like it (: and you don't have to take it every day or anything you can take it whenever. but when you see the results after a while you'll be motivated to eat good without the meds (: the problem is that it's not really a special diet drug soo..you would have to find sbd to sell them to you. buut i'm telling you..it's absolute MAGIC!! not just for losing weight..you will be on top of ever single thing you do! focused like a lazer ;)

So I'm not usually a total prick.. but here goes. I suffer from ADD and ADHD - and I mean I SUFFER from it. Lost job, lost relationships, lost sense of self worth from being a pretty constant mess. And then I found an amazing dr who took a lot of time to find out about me, my history, my problems, my everything and he prescribed Vyvanse for me. Its been a life saver.

And once a month I drive 45 minutes to his office to have him put a paper prescription in my hands for this medication bc thanks to people like you- he cant call my pharmacy, he cant mail me a prescription, he cant let me just pick it up from a receptionist- he has to physically see me. I cant use the 90 day-at-a-shot mail order prescription, so my insurance company jacks up the price of the medication. My primary wont prescribe it to me, since its class II - I need to get it specifically from my specialist.

Because of people like you. Who abuse this stuff to lose weight- bc you are looking for a short cut. I really hope you never actually need a med like this for a mental disorder- bc its no f'ing treat, I can tell you from personal experience. But really, next time I need to leave work early to drive to have a prescription put into my hands bc of pill poppers and abusers- LIKE YOU- I'll be sure to think of you. And your awful spelling.

Thanks to people like you- those of us who really need it, have a VERY hard time getting it. Thanks to people like you, those of us who need this sort of thing, get treated like criminals when we need the meds that keep us from being dysfunctional members of society.

Get your *kitten* to a gym, eat a salad- do something to improve your health but for the love of all that's holy- stop abusing prescription drugs.

I have taken phentermine before, which is the same I believe. I lost 60lbs but it all came back. I can understand needing a boost of energy and to drop a few pounds to make you feel motivated. Just be mindful of the choices(eating enough cals) you make and remember that you will learn the habits while taking the medication, but once you stop your cravings may come back, so you will still have to fight for what you want.
    Hard work, dedication.

I hope the pills can get you to a place where you feel you can do this on you own. Go get it girl!

Sniff, me too! It would be nice if my meds made me skinny, but obviously not since I need to lose 50 lbs. And I'm way wackier with out my meds. (@ FatassFairy, below)

Once upon a time, I took Lipo-6... then Lipo-6 Hers... I wanna say between 4-8yrs ago. Looking back now, I've come to the conclusion it was all my HARD work that gave me the results. Why? Because I ain't takin' *kitten* now and I'm getting places. Besides, last time I took the Lipo-6 hers I started getting migraines. Oops I left one out... Don't remember the brand. Anyway, completely unnecessary & Jamie Eason says it only helps you burn about 100 extra calories! WOW all those calories!

Now, I do know this crazy chick at work who made it obvious to me she takes ADHD meds to lose weight. I also have a friend that tried telling me she has ADHD and happens to be overweight. UGHHHHHHHHHHH! Drives me NUTS!!! How can some women be so (choose whatever word you like and insert)... NO I don't believe either of them have ADHD and IMO, the meds make them WACKY (not in a good way and they remain overweight).

hmm adhd and over weight are not mutually exclusive i am ADD and obese.

so to update my earlier post...I"ve been off phentermine for 2 weeks. I'm not sure how much I'd lost before and how much I've lost since...but my weight loss has been fairly consistent. It worked for me...because I made the lifestyle changes necessary with the jump start of a medicine that increased my DEAD metabolism. I see the endocrinologist on Monday, so hopefully I'll see a difference in my thyroid level and be able to reduce those meds. ;)

Not a diet pill, but a life enhancer if you will. GNC BeEnergized. Helps with energy levels. Has caffeine & antioxidants and B vitamins among a few other things. I tend to have very long days between my 2 jobs and low energy due to high bp. I've found it really helps me get thru the day even tho I only take 2 pills a day not the one every 3-4 hours they recommend.

Yes people claim to have ADHD to get the meds that will take away your appetite and give you energy like you never experienced and will make you focus. I am one who has ADHD, and my doctor has me on one of these medications, but I am on it for the real purpose of it. Yes, I will fully admit to the fact that when I first started taking it I lost my appetite and barely ate, but then I realized I wasn't losing weight, and so then I still ate what I wanted. Well right after Thanksgiving I made a few changes....I pack my meals for when I'm at work, I'm making sure to eat breakfast and snacks when needed. Every now and then I just don't get hungry but I still force myself to eat every 2-3hrs. But, for the most part by the time that 2-3hr mark rolls around from the last time I ate, I am ready to eat. So yes I use the medication for a medical diagnosis, and at first I wanted the easy way out, but then I realized that this way is a lot easier, and I'm still eating healthy and making smart food choices. But, IMO it isn't worth the health risks to take OTC diet pills, and just so everyone knows I am not going to be on this medication for life I plan on being off of it within the next 6-8months because I am working with my doctor and therapist to learn "natural" coping skills for focusing and listening, etc....
