12/9 - 35 minutes - 9.80 miles (pushed myself a bit more)
12/10 - 40 minutes - 11.16 miles (pushed myself a little bit more)
12/11 - 45 minutes - 11.29 miles (less intensity today)
12/12 - 50 minutes - 12.57 miles (like yesterday, moderate intensity, good cadence, not too high HRT)

My race season just finished up two weekends ago and I'm mostly focusing cutting weight. I'm doing a Sunday team ride right now and the rest its on the trainer.

December 1: 22 km-cold, but not raining
December 4: 20 km-cold, not raining and the sun did finally come out in the afternoon.
December 6: 46 km- rode to and from work today, tired tonight
December 7: 20 km- decided to take the shorter route with 5 km along highway and tried to ignore the big scary trucks.
December 8: 20 km- cold, but sunny. I forgot my darn keys at school again and could not lock my bike up at my drop off spot and had to put it on the trolley to get it up the mountain and then walk the final 1.5km up the mountain. I hope by next spring I will be able to ride most of the way up this dang mountain, but I am not there yetl grumble
December 11: only 8 km. My husband forgot his keys and i had to stop my ride, so we went for a walk instead.
December 12: 45-rode to work and back today, it was sooooooo cold in the morning0 -
Pretty much sucks this month for me. Calf muscle injury, cold weather, and not feeling well I only have 48 miles this month. I probably won't even get the lazy *kitten* 100 that I vouched for.
I have ridden my bike for a total of 4,170 miles this year. Not bad for Minnesota and being my true first year of riding. My trips I averaged over 25 miles per trip so seeing 48 is pathetic. Sorry I let you guys down this month. Maybet next month I can plan a trip to Texas or Florida and get a good weeks of riding in to start the year out.
I do want to thank both Tom TDSeest and Pam Pam3 for all of their encouragement. Both of you have been so helpful in encouraging me to get out there.0 -
December 18: 34 km ride. On my Sunday morning ride I saw, 3 huge hogs (sunning on a mound), 2 shy sheep (wandering on the trail) and a llama being led by a lead. :laugh: :laugh:

I think sometimes we have to just remember that we're not in the pro-peleton ... there's no Directeur Sportif that's going to go medieval on our *kitten* if we don't get out training come rain or shine. We're doing this for us - for our fitness, and our health. And, often the hardest thing is to realise that occasionally, we DO need to take some time to ease down the riding/training, and let the body recover - especially in the case of injuries - I know that I was like a bear with a sore head when the doctor told me that in order for my knee to heal properly, I HAD to take at least a week where I didn't do anything weight bearing. Walking around on crutches wasn't exactly how I wanted to start my weight loss program. Then to get the instruction that I couldn't ride for more than 10 minutes in a given day, stepping up to 20,30,45, 60 and eventually 90 minutes... It just seemed like torture at the time. But (touch wood) it seems to have done the trick. And it seems that I'm actually carrying a little fitness into the winter, along with 90lb less fat - so theres half a chance I may get to improve again next season!
So - if it takes some down-time, to make a long term improvement - then sometimes it's worth it... The bike will still be there when you're ready to ride, so will the roads... and that's all we REALLY need after all (well - okay - maybe the occasional tailwind!)0 -
