Family comes to our house Christmas Eve for dinner, spends the night and then stays for all of Christmas Day. Since three of us are eating healthier we are trying to put together a menu that everyone will enjoy, but that won't make the three of us feel like fat-laden carb monsters. We are sneaking in fat free items where we can and where we think the rest of the family won't detect them. What they don't know won't hurt them.

    Christmas Eve Dinner:
    Roast Turkey
    Buttermilk Mashed Potatoes w/ Gravy
    Cranberry Orange Stuffing
    Broccoli with Orange Sauce
    Whole wheat rolls
Big salad with all sorts of veggies, crab & sesame ginger dressing

There will be pie for dessert because it is Christmas dangit and everyone loves pie.

    Christmas Breakfast:
Monkey Bread (for the kids & evil relatives who can eat w/out gaining weight. I gain weight typing the words "Monkey Bread")
Fresh strawberry-banana-kale smoothies for us poor *kitten* who shouldn't be eating the monkey bread
Scrambled eggs (eggs courtesy of our lovely lil chickens)
    Fresh OJ

    Snacky Bits on Christmas Day:
Loads of fresh oranges & grapes
    Loads of fresh veggies
Cheeses and crackers (for the aforementioned evil relatives who can eat w/out gaining weight)

    Christmas Lunch
    Homemade Turkey Vegetable Soup
    Homemade bread
Any leftover bits from the night before people cannot resist

Interesting to see so many people doing something special on Christmas Eve. For us, it's Christmas Day that's the big day. Christmas Eve is just another work day, except that we usually go home a little early and eat a little lighter in anticipation of over-indulging on Christmas Day!

I am going to be strict on myself, so I will make sure all my portions are fine and I will be eating a larger portion of chicken and turkey to keep my protein up... There will be no alcohol for me and no desert or junk... I just know that if i eat desert and sweet stuff I will feel sick! and thats the last thing I want on christmas day, so I am going to be a good boy :)
