How much do you pay for your gym membership?

I sent an email to the gym near me because they have an indoor track. I wanted to know how much a month to use it. All I want to use is the track during the snowy winter month because I feel that is will be dangerous to run on the roads when they are messy with snow and ice.

The lady called and said that membership is only for the whole gym.

Ok well how much a month?

It a one-time fee of $75, and then $65 a month...

I laughed and said Sorry but that is too much a month for me to just run on your track..

So to me this price even to use the whole gym seems outrageous so what do you pay a month for your membership?

Where I go has a pool, fitness room, weight room. Membership also includes the outdoor pool in the summer. Water Aerobics classes are included in the fee also. It's $290 a year for a family pass.

Do any of your local malls have "walking/running times" one place I lived, the mall opened early (not stores) for people to walk, don't know if they let you run. Worth checking out.

We have a winner! I need to find out how much the 24 hour one costs around here and how high they crank up the air conditioning, because I am not going to be able to walk outside or do much of anything else, inside or out, without a membership to somewhere that keeps the place like a fridge all summer.

24-hour fitness here, for me, is $32 a month with a 3-year contract. there was a $50 sign-up fee. no pool -- weird, complicated laws for gyms with pools and saunas here in MT, so many don't have them -- but everything I really need, and I can go in after work around midnight.

classes are $1 each. you buy a little punch card with 13 punches for $12. sometimes, like this month, members can be in classes for no extra charge. non-members can take classes for $2 each.

My old gym was 30 a month and include membership to all 5 gyms (one was closer to work, one closer to house), classes, pools, cardio cinema, etc....there was a one time registration fee of $99

I moved in sept to the country and the gym here is a YMCA. They have about 5 treadmills, one set of free weights, and a couple machines - they do have classes but none are appealling. It has75 registration fee and is $40 a month. Yea no thanks.

I bought a used treadmill at the thrift store for $35 and will be using that instead until it gets nice out again

I think the regular price is $44 per month. I pay $29 I think for a corporate membership.

$35 monthly with 1 free month for every 12. No sign up fee. Had to pay for key, though (I think it was 40 bucks?)

Gym open 24/7. Free weights, weight machines, cardio equipment, classes, and even something called 'fitness on demand' where a screen comes down from the ceiling in the classroom and you can choose what dvd you want to watch. that way you and friends (or strangers) can work out together without a class going on.

Cheaper than YMCA and only 3 miles from my house. :)

I just joined the gym at work - only $4 per week but closed on weekends.
Before that I had a membership at the YMCA - about $54 per month.
There is a LifeTime Fitness near me that is a little under $100 per month, I think.

10.95 per month Planet Fitness, just a gym but lots of equipment and its in my neighborhood. Most of my friends go to Lifestyles and they pay about $40 per month with a lot more available. Its probably the indoor track that is boosting the price on that gym. I've never seen a gym with an indoor track but then again I live in FL

I pay $15 a month for my gym it's a local one, not a full fledged chain. They might have a couple in the area. It's called Answer is Fitness. No pool, but they offer classes of all kinds and has a good amount of cardio equipment and free weights as well as machines. They offer personal training which is how I found my current trainer, but he is no longer at that gym. He started up a personal training studio. He's a great friend as well as motivator.

Workout World (WOW) $1 sign up fee. $40 yearly fee and $19 a month. I get 24/7 access with staff at all times. The gym does not have a track, pool, tennis courts, or basketball courts. It offers a women's room, a large room for a large variety of free classes, including spin, and the main part of the gym and free-weight area. There is a child care but I chose not to pay extra for it as my grandchildren can stay with someone else if they are staying over. Each piece of cardio equipment has a tv with extended cable. There is a ton of equipment. I have never had to wait for anything to open up. It's very clean. Well worth the money. Oh, I also get to bring a guest every time I go. With no limit on how often a guest comes or how often I go per day/week. Great deal for a couple or work out buddies. Plus there are new saunas and free tanning.

yeah, that's a nice thing for me, too. I can go to any 24-hour fitness in the country. we have 3 or 4 of them here in town ... guess if I get bored of one I can go and check out one of the others.

I can add something like $6 or $8 and get unlimited tanning. but I'm in Montana. what do I need with a tan?

I was paying £42 (about $65) per month for Bannatynes gym - had about 60 classes a week, sauna, pool, steam room and tons of equipment - but I hated all the mirrors and so many poseurs - am now at a small gym that is 1/3 of the size and is always being fixed up for leaks and could do with a lick of paint, it has no pool or flashy amenities - but I love it and it's only £ 16 ($24) a month

The people that go are there just there to work out, no matter what time I go at the owner is always there and I like that I can just go and get on with it and noone bothers me.

I'm in love with my Community Center! They've got a fitness room (cardio, weights, etc), an awesome pool, a gymnasium, and even a roller skating rink in the basement!!

It's $28/month and includes Boot Camp classes, water aerobics and a few others. There are other more specialized classes for an additional fee.

It's 1 1/2 miles from my house, it's never very busy when I go (early morning) and it supports the parks department. Win-win for me!

I pay $NZD68/month and for me it is completely worth it! I live in New Zealand and we have an awesome chain of gyms called les Mills. I adore the classes and I am quite happy to pay this much. This fee entitles me to general gym equipment (elliptical etc), group classes, shower/lockers/sauna etc. I have tried machines in the past but I find I get bored so the classes are the best option for me. I love BodyCombat which is all punching and kicking. I go 3 times per week so it costs roughly $5 per visit. It is also where I do my weigh ins!!!!

$30/month whole gym and some free classes. Some classes cost money, but all in all it's way cheaper than the classes I would want to take at my University's gym, which I can't use anymore since I just graduated.

I am very fortunate to have access to a fully equipped gym and pools for free. We're a military family living on a military installation and they have gyms in their neighborhood centers for the spouses to use, they also have a fully equpped gym for everyone to use. I used to pay $30 in my hometown and it was a community center gym, great place. If you are looking to save money on a gym try out a local community center or even a YMCA if you have one. :)
