Hello 40+ Club!!! This is the first post of the new thread!!! Hope you like the title!!! Thank Chris (whoheis) or complain if you dont like it. LOL
For those who would like to join: We are a group of 40+ (40 yrs and older) peope who like to stay healthy by eating clean, exercising, etc. We support each other by providing health info, giving each other ideas on how to be healthy as we get older. Feel free to join the conversation. We usually report our weightloss/ weight gain, inches lost, struggles, goals, etc on Fridays.
What are your fitness/health goals for this year??? For me, I have started a new lifting program, New Rules of Lifting for Women. I am on my second week. My goal is to become stronger, lose fat, get leaner. I overdid it (not surprising to me) during the Holidays so I have to lose a few pounds and inches...I also want to focus on my nutrition, especially increasing my protein consumption. I am a Zumba Instructor and will of course continue with teaching my 4 classes a week.
Have a great day!!!!! :flowerforyou:

I can't remember if Ijoined if as there's so many posts on the last thread to work through!
But I'm 42, mostly clean eating (does chocolate count?) ?.. I try and only have chocolate 'cravings week' and rest of month am very healthy and low carb!
I might be going through peri-menopause, I'm experiencing some problems with my monthly cycle..been late, early, short, too often etc! ..... Weight loss is slow but it's happening in spurts.. some weeks nothing others 2-3lbs + water off from TOTM. I'm trying to lose 5lb a month and get to under 10st before end of February ..will be the first time in about 15 yrs I've been that weight!
Is anyone else trying to get back to weight they were when they were younger? ..it's still middle of my healthy range for my height but not sure how much age should come into it and whether I'll be able to stay at that weight easily. ( was aiming for 9st 3 which wii fit says I should be.. To finish the game)63 -
Hi - I would love to join this group- not exactly sure how. A tiny about me: I am 42 yrs old- have been working out since last Spring- I work out intensely- usually burning between 800-1200 calories a day. I have lost 69 lbs in the past 20 months (had a baby) but would ultimately like to lose another 30 lbs to be lean and completely fit.
Please let me know if I can partake in the fun!

I'd like to join as well. I am a 51-year-old widow who lost over 70 pounds five years ago. I've gained back about 15, and would truly like to lose 10 of that. I was probably too thin at my lowest, but would be happier ranging a little lower than I am now (up and down from 130-135, instead of 140-145). I am at a healthy weight, but would still like to lose those pounds I gained back. The holidays have really wrecked havoc on my dieting and exercise regimen, and it won't improve too much for a few days until my daughter heads back to college. I know, not an excuse, but we like to enjoy ourselves in the time we spend together.
I am a teacher, and I try to walk both before school and during my lunch break. Walking is the only form of exercise I really do. I'd like to tone, so I know I need to add some weights/yoga/etc. to my weekly routine.

Hi .. I would like to join, not sure how.
I am a 44 year old single mom of a son in college. I practice Tai Chi, and just started Tony Horton's 10 minute trainer. I also try to walk or swim ... weather permitting.
I cannot do any jogging/running/jumping because of a lifelong battle with rheumatism that have ravaged my joints, BUT I can do non-stress repetative ... which is how I managed to maintain a healthy weight most of my life ... UNTIL ... quitting smoking and the inevitable change in metabolism. Stretching and muscle tone are really important for me to prevent any permanent disabilities as I get older.
Trying to become strong and healthy ... through lifestyle changes.
I am 5'5" and 153 lbs .... looking to get to mid-BMI (130ish) with a healthy toned body, not "skinny-fat" ...
Hope to become a great example and supporter of all those pursuing the healthy lifestyle!23 -

Hi, all!
I'm 51, and my goal is to keep the 12 pounds I managed to take off last year from creeping back.
Another goal is to make it through 2012 with zero slug days (= when I get to the end of the day and realize I never even moved out of my office chair).9 -
Hi! Great topic!
My goals are to finish P90X. I just started Phase 3 today. To run 1000 miles, or 1609 km's if you are Canadian like me, in 2012, and to run my first ultra race this September, a 50 mile trail run.
Somewhere in there I would like to lose the last 10 pounds too. That would be a bonus!!8 -
Will add my goals later!!5

40+8 here, goals are to increase cardio levels.1

Hi,
I'd like to join! I made the 40 club on Christmas Eve 2011!!
So I'm just 40, live in Wiltshire UK and have a young family.
I need to weigh in properly but I'm somewhere around 110Kgs (242lbs?). Last year about this time I was starting treatment for TC which was a hell of a scare and the treatment was rough as anything. Toward end of 2011 I started thinking about losing weight and really getting back on my bike and get out cycling!
My goal is to lose 80+ lbs!
Looking forward to speaking to more of you!. Add me as a friend if you like!
Regards,
J6 -

46 here.... and down 92 lbs in the past 12 months. I have learned a lot more about balancing my diet and have been running. I went from only being able to run 30 seconds at a time to training for my first half marathon this coming June. I'd also like to "join" the group but not sure what that involves. At work now but I'll add more about myself later.24

Hi, I would like to join the group, not exactly sure how. I'm a 40 year old mother of 4, who has struggled with being overweight all my life. I embarked on my journey towards healthy living right after my 40th birthday back in March. I had reached a new low ( or high depending on how you look at it) of 289 lbs., was diagnosed with diabetes and hypertension and decided that if I didn't do something right then and there, I would not be around for my children 10 years from now.
Since then, I have lost 106 lbs., but now I am not getting enough nutrients and protein on a daily basis. My goal this year is to find a healthy balance nutritionally and to begin toning up big time. I would also like to lose about 30 more lbs. and then begin a maintenance program.
I am looking forward to interacting with everyone and open to any and all comments and suggestions anyone may have regarding my journey.20 -
I am 42, focus on eating healthy, enjoy working out and just became certified to do group fitness instruction and teach Pilates. I would LOVE to join. Just let me know how. Thanks so much!2

Count me in! I'm 42 and in the process of trying to cement in some permenant lifestlye changes. I have four specific goals for 2012 related to health.
1) Reach and maintain my goal weight (60 lb total loss)
2) Cement in my recent lifestyle change on exercise (3-5 times per week for 1 hour)
3) Make permentant lifestyle changes on nutrition (what I eat, when I eat and how much I eat)
4) Be an example and an encouraging force for my family, especially my 7 year old son.
Best wishes.8 -
Replying to bookmark! I'm in this range -- turning 42 on Friday -- never lost the baby weight (I've got twins), and I'm REALLY tired of looking at it. My chemical balance is such that losing is a bit of a challenge, and I'm a single Mom, which makes the time for exercising and cooking from scratch limited, but I'm not willing to let these things keep me seeing a whale in the mirror any longer. I started in the July/August time frame, and I've lost about 1/3 of what I want to lose (27 down). I've been getting weary, though, so support will be a good thing!8

Hi All - Happy New Year! I turned 40 in December and it gave me a kick in the pants to get moving - to quit whining about having no time - and see what I look like as a healthy thin person! So far so good - I have lost about 21 pounds since the end of August and dropped 4 sizes! I, too, have started running - I never thought I could do that. I am trying to get some courage to attempt a 5k - people keep telling me to do it but I am feeling self conscious and I am trying to get over it! We'll see - I am inspired by the new year so hopefully I can try something new!
How do I actually join this?2 -
New to Myfitnesspal as of today:
I like this Topic! I'm 43 and need to kick 70 pounds to the curb! I already ditched 43 pounds, on NS then gained 7 back I can do it on my own without paying $300 plus a month. We are all in this together and I know we can reach our goals as long as we work hard, pay attention to what goes in our mouths and support eachother.
Looking forward to being a loser along with the rest of you!!9 -
