I feel like it's just the nice way to say you're overweight.

I've always liked it actually. I think it implies you have good curves. It does depend on who it comes from and how you feel about it though. I can see how it could be interpreted in different ways!

Yeah I hate it too. I feel like people think it's a polite way of saying "wow your fat!".

    I hate when that happens

Yes. I don't find it to be a compliment at all and I feel like it's a way of saying I have a fat *kitten*.

    Wow ...sensitive ...

Voluptuous is what many men seek in a woman...

My wife lost a lot of weight but she kept some really nice curves. You can be Voluptuous and not fat... Relax.
  • I had a guy once try to ask me out by saying he liked "zaftig" women. What a jerk! I hate being called voluptous also. People need to focus on our personalities, not our body shape.

voluptuous actually REALLY means pleasing to the senses/delightful, so, no, I don't hate it. I'd rather have "pleasing curves" than none at all, thank you.

    Rubenesque, on the other hand...

I don't mind it. I have curves, call them what you want, they're still curves

    better than lumpy
  • Rubinesque is worse to me! Have you ever seen any of Rubens' nudes?

I'd rather be voluptuous - brings to mind 40's pinup and Marilyn Monroe to me

It depends on who says it and why. I have large breasts and a large *kitten* naturally, so when I gained 25 pounds some extra weight went to my *kitten* and breasts and some to my legs, and tummy. I didn't liked the way I looked in a bikini, but when I was wearing a dress in the summer time my curves looked nice. My compliments have come from a variety of people, who I know meant no harm. I don't see it as a bad comment, but I know I would rather be called "fit" with a big bust and *kitten* still

I'd MUCH rather be called voluptuous than Big and Beautiful - that bothers me.

i don't know, most people would say sofia vergara is and she is definitely not overweight.
  • I would love to be called voluptuous!

If someone told me I was "full of delight or pleasure to the senses : conducive to or arising from sensuous or sensual gratification," I would be quite pleased.
  • When my husband says it I blush. When my sister told me I was voluptuous when she was just looking for another word for heavy...then no. Just no. Lol.
  • I can't recall if I've ever been called that, but I would love it. I get jealous of women with more curves than me! When I think 'voluptuous' I think of a Jessica Rabbit-like body. :)

I like it! Beats the hell outta fat, lol!

Seriously, its my determination most guys like girls with some curves. I'm thankful some of mine have stuck around through the weight loss, though I could totally lose the thighs and be fine with it.

Ya, I'm ok with that one. What I don't like is "buxom". Grrrr....
  • Yes. I don't find it to be a compliment at all and I feel like it's a way of saying I have a fat *kitten*.

I'd rather have a fat *kitten* than a FLAT *kitten* anyday.. My curves are part of who I am.. and thanks to my Spanish and Italian genes, I won't ever have to worry about looking like a little boy when I reach my G.W..
  • I actually like it =)
