    i wonder if they would work with 1/3 cup apple sauce instead of the oil?

    Yes, I made them with apple sauce and they turned out great.

    bump! also found a recipe that is similar but uses whey protein powder if anyone is interested:

    1 cup oats
    4 scoops vanilla whey protein
    1/2 cup unsweetened apple sauce
    1/2 cup egg whites
    1 tbsp. stevia
    1 tsp. olive oil
    Raisins (optional)
    Cinnamon (optional)
    bake at 325*F for ~10-15 minutes, may be less
    makes ~10 cookies or so

    I haven't yet made these but I am about to right now :P

    For those that made the original recipe - can you take the banana out and it still work? I already know I'd replace the oil with applesauce. Thanks!

    bump for later... may have a banana spree day... I found a recipe for banana pancakes...

    Ingredients

    * 1/3 cup of Quick Rolled Oats
    * 1 Over-Ripe Banana (should have a few brown spots)
    * 1 tsp Baking Powder
    * 1/3 cup of Egg Whites
    * 1/2 tsp Vanilla

    Put the quick rolled oats into a food processor/magic bullet/blender and blend until they are a fine consistency, sort of like chunky flour. Add the other four ingredients and blend until smooth. Pour mixture onto a non-stick skillet and fry until big bubbles form. Flip and cook for another minute.
    Makes 4 pancakes.
    Nutrition (per pancake)
    Calories: 70 - Total Fat: 0.6g - Carbs: 11.6g - Fiber: 1.6g - Sugar: 3.8g - Protein: 4.3

    Oh my goodness! I read through everyone's ideas for subs and I want to try them all. I would for sure switch the oil for applesauce. But I also want to try it with a few chopped walnuts instead of raisins. Also someone mentioned pumpkin instead of bananas.. That's brilliant because my hubby looooves pumpkin. Also I want to try it with some cocoa powder. yummmmmy!!

    Don't EVER throw away overripe bananas. Put them in the freezer for a rainy, baking day!

    I've been making these cookies for a while now, they are amazing. I use applesauce instead of oil also and sometimes chop up some walnuts to go inside.

    I was thinking the same thing nuts sound yummy in these! awesome thanks for sharing
