LOL..............of course it does....meat bypasses all bodily function pertaining to digestion and rots and makes people sick and they die of agonizing deaths. I'm just kidding in case you actually believe what I'm saying, which based on your post is probably a good bet.

That's, well... crap. Please do not post this fear-mongering crap without valid sources of data.

According to Chau Che MD, with New York University:

"Despite evidence to the contrary, the idea that colon cleansing is therapeutic by removing impurities, lives on. However, these claims largely fail to consider normal physiology. The digestive tract has inherent properties that work to clean our colon. After food ingestion, the small intestine absorbs nutrients and contracts to move indigestible residue into the colon. The colon continues the digestive process by absorbing and secreting electrolytes and fluids while its resident bacteria ferments the undigested food products. These are just some of the many mechanisms in which the digestive tract works in order to ensure that the colon does not become encrusted with fecal matter as some products claim. The black, rubbery material passed on a colon cleanse is actually a byproduct from the supplements and fiber in the colon cleansing product as opposed to old fecal material, in which consumers are led to believe."

I like to eat more whole foods. Except for my Trader Joe's frozen meals for lunches but they have more real ingredients than most. I personally do not think that lean meat (red or otherwise) is all that bad for you. You still should watch fat content and all of that but nothing in excess is good. And red meat has been linked to heart issues but having steak once in a while is not a bad thing.

You're getting steak and gum mixed up and if you break a mirror you have seven years bad luck unless you throw a salt shaker at somebody

    Steak...good!
  • Nothing wrong with a good steak. As everyone mentions it is all about portion control, have it with a salad.. Also try to buy organic, not only will it taste better, but this way you are not getting all of the hormones and antibiotics that the animals are being feed these days. In reality it is what the animals are being feed that are hurting us the most. Enjoy that steak

I would not stick to any diet if I didn't allow myself steak once in awhile. You can't deprive yourself of good food just watch the amount of good food.

Meh, it is not bad in my house! I love steak. I don't eat it weekly, but we have it once or twice a month. I try to get leaner cuts and watch the portions, but also like the thicker fatty cuts on occasion. For me, it's moderation and movement. If I know I'm eating something that's higher in fat, I get a little extra workout time in. Should you eat it every day? Probably not.

Do you guys like thick steak, or thin-cut steak?

I like thin-cut, carne asada style, with some fresh corn tortillas.

It's considered bad because contains a more saturated fats and cholesterol than white meat or fish, and saturated fat and cholesterol have been the big bad boogeymen of the health industry for the past few decades.

BUT, it isn't processed or refined, it's mostly protein, and there are no carbs and sugar (which are becoming the new big bad boogeymen of the health industry) so I think most people here would agree that in moderation, a good old piece of steak isn't a bad thing.

OT, but I love your Firefly ticker!

Steak is great for you, but how you prepare and eat it is the issue. Yes it has saturated fats, but those alone are not the problem.

As stated before steak is not processed or "created", it is real and is better for you than most other processed meats you can find. Just don't smother it in other processed stuff like your marinades, gravies, or condoments.

Sugar, hydrogenated oils, and processed foods in general are the bad stuff. Also genetically modified foods in general.
