Fake success pictuers

Maybe they lost weight....joined MFP..lost more weight...and the ticker reflects their "MFP weight loss".
A lot of people as they lose the final 20lbs restart their ticker to reflect where they are in their journey. It doesn't mean overall weight loss.0 -
Some people reset their tickers to meet each of their mini goals.
That is a good point!!0 -
Maybe they lost weight....joined MFP..lost more weight...and the ticker reflects their "MFP weight loss". It's ok....thinking is hard.
This is very possible... I went from 198 to 170 before I joined MFP.0 -
I don't think i've seen any fake success pictures on here. I have only seen lots of people proud of their achievements!
Take this guy for example...
He worked hard for those abs and he just wants to show them off.
I vote that one as a fake. As a photographer and a graphic artist, I see photoshop lines. Sorry if I'm wrong, but I'd stake $$$ that I'm not.
You're right! That cellphone is totally photoshopped in! The picture was taken before it was released, no way he got his hands on it that early!!!!!0 -
Why are people so concerned about others? It doesn't affect you if so and so burns 1000 calories a day doing "light cleaning" and it doesn't affect you if they also photoshop their picture.
Focus on you, not other people.
Amen!! It's like who cares? It's their lives...no?0 -
15lbs on me is an insane difference losing only 10 lbs this far has made me do from a size 10 to an 8 and my face has thinned out a lot ppl have noticed already, if i were to lose another 15 lbs i would be very toned0
-
If someone has lost 20 pounds of fat and added 5 pounds of muscle, they are going to look more trim than someone that *only* lost 15 pounds, especially if some of that lost weight was muscle.
My weight loss over the last year is about 50 pounds, but i've been using DEXA scans every quarter as well as the scale. I've actually added a bit of muscle, so i look smaller than i actually am.
Also, i'm having a lower body lift in 3 weeks. I'm only expected to lose about 7 pounds with that surgery, but i'll probably drop 2 more pants sizes, just from having that 4 inch roll of excess skin gone off my abdomen.0 -
I agree...Sometimes I think the pictures look a little odd, for the amount of weight they lost.
I agree fully, but I've witnessed it in myself. I've been 130# of marshmallow fluff without much muscle, and know how different that was from how I look now at a little over 130# with a decent amount of muscle. I might LOOK like I lost more weight than I did, because I lost a lot of fat while retaining lean muscle.0 -
Why does anyone care if someone is posting a fake pic or not...sheeessshh.0
-
If I were gonna fake it, I'd edit out the stretchmarks.0

Honestly, I can fit sizes 6,8 or 10 (depending on if I am in jeans, slacks, etc...) but I look like a size 6. So I think it's possible. People guess my weight waaaayyyy under what I really am. I am only 5ft 4in also.0

I'd give myself hooters. :laugh:0 -

I'm 5'10" and also wear 6-8 (but I weigh 167 pounds). Crazy, isn't it?0 -

I think it could actually be harmful, when the person describes how they ate, exercise, etc... that actually doesn't work. But from seeing the success pictures, someone may just follow their plan.0 -
Anyone faking pics should be laughed out of the room.
Except for Skitty.0 -

Hahahaha!0 -

There's only one thing I fake.....
and it's not my pics. This only proves yoga works.0 -

Im a firm believer that Skitty can touch her Whoo haaa with her mouth..There is not faking that.......Thats what makes Skitty...Skitty! LOL0 -
Well I for one know how evil the camera can be...LOL! I intend on doing "afters" professionally if I can afford it. I have lost about 80 pounds (actually lost almost 100, but the holidays put some back). However I have about 75 or so more to go. I have a VERY round face so pictures accentuate that, and I still dress in more billowy clothes, because I am not yet comfortable with where I am. I look at pictures sometimes and think no way I've lost that much weight, but then I drag out some clothes I have saved from before and put them on and they literally fall off. I've heard the closer you are to goal the more dramatic the change will appear. So the second half of the journey should yeild more visual results, at least from the camera's angle. In person, everone notices the weight loss, but pictures still stink of me.0

If I posted a picture of me when I started and now, you would think I had lost 60lbs, not 30, but 30 it is.0
-
someone send me a link to the fake pics...i kind of want to see them0

I don't get why it's a big deal.
I could fake my weigh-in's too, or my diary, or 'shop my pics, or use really old photos...no one would ever know. Except me.
Most people don't know (or care) that I reset my ticker after a long break. It would say 40+ pounds if I'd left it alone. None of anyone's business though, to be blunt. This is MY journey and I'll do it MY way.0 -
Everyone loses differently and sometimes 15 lbs of fat from mostly one area could look like 40. Others it may look like you lost 10lbs and you lost 60. Everyone is different Hun. Can't judge them on that. Also I would like to think most people would never post a pic that isn't theirs. When you cheat like that it's only cheating yourself. The pics are very inspirational. I agree Im glad they have the courage to post them to help others0

It's not just the pictures- sometimes it's their entire opinion that's fake.
Numerous times I've read how people exercise all the time and eat the best foods and usually these people- in a "motivational way" put others down. eg "you shouldn't have binge days it creates bad habits, that's why I'm really strict" when someone has gone over their goal by 5 calories or something ridiculous. Another fave- "I exercise an hour a day, you have to do it otherwise you'll only disappoint yourself"
I Click profile, click food diary and suddenly this person is 1000 calories over their goal for THE DAY- everyday for the last TWO WEEKS with minimal exercise done!
For every success story there's also someone trying to feel better about themselves by inadvertently putting others down and for reasons only known to them inflating the truth. I think it's funny that these people tend not to have located their privacy settings!0 -

I think if the pictures motivate you who cares if they are fake they only hurt themselves by lieing.
I'am doing it for me.I want to be around for my grandbabys.I want tobe healthy for me I do'nt care tobe fake.0 -
ahh I see exactly where this thread is going.......
Going by this thread, it is going to be mighty easy to brush off anybody that does things that are not the "norm" on MFP as being fake and if they then post photos, those will be considered fake too.
Oh dear, what a slippery path.
We may all as well pack up and go home and never log on again if what is going to happen is some people are going to be accused of being fake, how very convenient for the masses......0 -

There was a case where one person was proven to be using photoshopped pics to "inspire" her fans. They were quite obviously fakes. I don't think that most folks suspect the majority of the pics though.0
