I use to ride the bus. I had all the routes mapped out and could go anywhere I wanted to for only $35 a month. Plus I got to walk everywhere so cardio wasn't issue. Then I got my car fixed and I said to hell with waiting for the bus and walking.

I am sorry but have you not heard of the US being in a recession or do you live under a rock?

    Lol...do I live under a rock?

Have YOU not heard the whole world is in recession...countries declaring bankruptcy? Yes, US economy is in toilet...but so is everyone else's...stop complaint. Your gas is the lowest in the world

Yes indeed, Canada is one of lowest...that's why I'm not complaining!!!
... of the developed countries. Canada is also near the cheapest gas, but still more than the US.

Ofcourse your country has higher taxes. How do you think your government pays for the "free" healthcare?

LOL...thats for sure...nothing is ever "free" is it. Gas tax, sales tax, personal tax...all higher in Canada! Oh, maybe clean water is cheaper, thats it.

I guess you folks in the states are at a cross-roads with the health care debate. Its not cheap, that is for sure! Guess it depends on priorities. So you dont have health care and gas is cheaper. I guess the government wants you to take your savings on gas and save it for your next doctor's appointment LOL.

All I know...USA is a beautiful country, so many positive things about your neck of the woods...AND cheap gas!

Canada kicks butt! ?Gas prices are high though ;O)
  • In Vancouver, gas today is $1.279/litre which is the equivalent of $4.98/gallon. This is the reason I drive the 15 minutes to Washington and pay $3.91/gallon!

Health care spending accounts for more than 40% of my Provinces revenue.

    $4.09 in sacramento.

    though....my dental care sucks.
I do like paying less taxes for cigarettes.

Perhaps if I rode a bus and stopped smoking I could afford to take care of my teeth better.
Wait, what are we debating here?

Dental Care is not covered by our medical system in Canada, unless you are low income. Most employers offer medical insurance that covers it though.

Oh but I do have health care. I do not need the government to make sure I have it. Guess it's really about what choices I am willing to give up and trust the government to manage for me. eh?

I would love to pay $91 bucks every 3-4 weeks.

I have a car that averages 30 mpg. and I fill my car up every week.

I have a 10 (ish) gallon gas tank, filled it up at $4.21/gallon = $42.10

    I do this every Friday.

    So for 3 weeks I pay: $126.30

Please keep in mind the European countries have a TON more taxes that hike up their cost of Gas. Hell, they are taxed for pretty much everything, which is how they get their "free" stuff, but in reality they are paying a shi*t load for it.

Also, the US dollar SUCKS right now, which makes the conversion rates suck.

Plus, European countries have it made with their public transportation, on average their population drives less than the US. (I don't really know about Canada, you guys are even larger.) Last time I checked the US is one hell of a huge country compared to the tiny ones across the pond. It is not a fair comparison.

    TOO MUCH!!!!

£1.30 a Litre (on a good day) so £5.85 a gallon which for my American friends :) would be $9.16 a gallon!

    I have a 45ltr tank = 10gallon (ish) of which I fill every 3-4 weeks... = £58 / $91 every 3-4 weeks >_<

IDK...it dropped a bit in the Detroit area ($3.33 right now), but I'm sure it will shoot up. I saw something about gas prices rising on the tv at the gym this morning...so they'll probably jack it first chance they get!

wow lucky! I am in Adrian, mi (about 1 hr and 10 mins from detroit) and today gas was $3.58

I don't worry at all about the rising gas price. Right now I'm getting 90mpg. It costs me less than $10 a month for gas. My lighter scoot gets 110mpg but I don't feel as safe on it.

Go ahead. Tell me I look like a dork. I'm fine with that. :glasses:

    I'm Paying between 1.02 - 1.04 a litre in Alberta...

gas was $1.00 even in 2005 in NWO

Right now it's $1.28ish, and has been for months.

I don't really complain. I think I've travelled 40some times in the past year, the nearest city(ies) being 400km in either direction. I actually like travelling. I can still get there and back for about $55-60 bucks.
