3-2-1 Cake

Not sure if this has been posted before, just wanted to share.....
This is perfect for those of us with just one or two in the house these
days and hate to make a huge cake.
This way you can make as little or as many as you need!
These individual little cakes are amazing and ready to eat in one
minute! They are perfect for whenever you feel like a treat without all
the fat and calories that cake can have. Genius idea!
INGREDIENTS:
1 box Angel Food Cake Mix
1 box Cake Mix - Any Flavor
2 Tbsp Water
Makes 1 serving
DIRECTIONS:
In a ziploc bag, combine the two dry cake mixes together and mix well.
For each individual cake serving, take out 3 Tablespoons of the cake mix
combination and
mix it with 2 Tablespoons of water in a small microwave-safe container.
Microwave on high for 1 minute, and you have your own instant individual
little cake!
KEEP remaining cake mixture stored in the ziploc bag and use whenever
you feel like a treat! You can top each cake with a dollop of fat free
whipped topping and/or some fresh fruit.
Helpful Tips:
This recipe is called 3, 2, 1 Cake because all you need to remember is:
3 tablespoons mix,
2 tablespoons water, and
1 minute in the microwave!
TRY various flavors of cake mix like carrot, red velvet, pineapple,
lemon, orange, etc. Just remember that one of the mixes has to be the
angel food mix; the other is your choice.
The flavor possibilities are endless!
NOTES:
The best thing is that you open both cake mixes into a gallon storage
bag (zip lock type) or a container that seals tightly - shake the two
cake mixes to blend and then make the recipe. Storage of mix is simple,
put it on a shelf. No need to refrigerate, since the mix is dry.
IMPORTANT:
Always remember, that one of the cake mixes MUST be Angel Food - the
other can be any flavor.
The Angel Food cake mix has eggs whites in it -- so if you're allergic
to egg whites, this recipe is not for you.
You can even add other ingredients (ex., banana cake with walnuts,
chocolate cake with a peanut butter cup inside)

How did you figure out how many calories a serving is? Do you know how many tablespoons are in the ziploc once you have mixed the two?0

rough estimate on calories (disclaimer - I have not made this. just calculated from a google search. why couldn't they have math problems like THIS when I was in school? )
average box of cake mix has about 3 cups mix = 48 tablespoons
box of Duncan Hines yellow cake mix has 12 serving @ 180 calories each ...
so 12 times 180 = 2160.
2160 divided by 48 tablespoons = 45 cal/tablespoon.
double that roughly since the recipe calls for combining 2 boxes of cake mix = around 90 cal/tablespoon.
YMMV with the types/flavor/packaging of cake mixes you choose. The MFP recipe calculator will probably be more accurate.0 -
might have to try this. What did you "bake" then in?0

you wouldn't have to double the calories because you are combining 2 cake mixes and still only using 1 tbsn.1

I went to reluctantgourmet.com. It has a conversion chart.
If the angel food cake mix has 16 oz of dry mix and the strawberry cake mix has 17.25 that comes to 34.25 dry oz. If you divide that up into tablespoons it comes to 81.58 tablespoons. If there are 3 tablespoons in each serving then you would have about 27 servings.
using the recipe calculator on here I show it would be 169 calories each serving.
This is using a strawberry cake mix.
Hope this helps.0 -
Thanks for posting this. You know this is a great idea for when my kids start crying for something sweet. They could totally do this themselves.0

I put this into the recipe builder here. I call this mug cake but i use only cake mix and no angel food cake mix. I use 1/3 of a cup chocolate cake mix which i was told was 1/10 of the package and 3TB of water. Mix well in mug and microwave 45 seconds. I top it with fat free cool whip and if i really wanna feel like im cheating i add 1 - 1/2 ts of reduced sugar peanut butter to the batter before i microwave. Mug cake with the ff cool whip and 1ts peanut butter is 206 calories and 5 grams of fat. Mug cake without peanut butter is 160 calories and 2 grams of fat.
1/3 cup chocolate cake mix 160 calories
ff cool whip 1TB 8 calories, 2 grams fat0 -

I put it into the recipe builder. I entered each cake mix’s nutritional info and then I measure how much mix I had. I had 7.5 cups of mix (after they were mixed together) and each cup has 16 tbsp in it (according to my conversion chart) so 7.5 x 16 = so 120 tbsp of mix. Divide that by the 3 tbsp per cake and it comes to 40 servings. I used Betty Crocker - Angel Food Cake Mix Fat Free, 456 g and Pillsbury Moist Supreme - Devil's Food Cake Mix, 516 g and it says it came out to 90 calories per serving. But that is ONLY for those specific cake mixes. I will redo it when I try a different flavor but that will be a while I don't eat cake that often.
grrrrrr, I can't get my screenshot to post! I have it saved in photobucket and I used the code and changed the IMG to img but all it gives me is this:
