Women who eat more than 1800 calories a day !!!!

After about a month of eating between 1,800-2,300 calories a day I have lost a pants size.
What I think is better is that I have plenty of energy after work to work out. It's not a struggle to get off the couch at the end of the day any more.
I agree! I used to be so tired (at 1200-1400) that I'd pass out and have to wake myself up to workout. all throughout the workout I'd be so tired. Now (2100) I have the energy to power through the workout, even if i'm tired to begin with.0 -
I've shed over 130 pounds and decreased my body fat from 56% to 23%
I eat an average of 2000-ish calories/day now - usually more.

I ate about 2000 NET last summer. Lost 12 lbs. I then ate 2800 and gained 10lbs. I'm happier with my body now than I think I've ever been.
ETA: Oh, you asked for pictures (and well, I'm an attention *kitten* and will post pictures as often as I can)0 -

Don't be silly you have done so well- look at your arms! Your body fat is way lower than mine too!
I think you look amazing and would not likely have noticed!!! I agree with the above poster, your arms look great - well done!! :flowerforyou:
To the OP - thank you sooo much for this post, great information here and it is good to see what people have accomplished with higher caloric intake.0 -

I am happy I stumbled across this thread. I am the girl that is so focused on 1200 calories. Just recently (about a week and a half ago) I raised my cals to 1400....I am very active in the gym. I do a lot of cardio and weight train/lift. I burn no less than 400 cals on a work out day and max out at about 2100 calories....but you ladies have convinced me to reevaluate this even more.
THANKS FOR POSTING THIS.....LOVE IT!1 -
I have been at a plateau for 2 months at 1200 cals a day. I eat my exercise calories back and work out every day for at least 30 - 60 minutes. Maybe I need to up my calories a bit?0

I'm breastfeeding right now and have to eat an extra 800-900 calories to compensate. (Yes, really. I'm pumping 40-45 ounces a day.) So even with a 500 calories deficit to lose 1 pound per week I'm eating about 2300 calories a day. I lost the 15 pounds I gained during pregnancy in the first two weeks and lost another 15 in the next 4 weeks. My loss has slowed to about 1-1.5 pounds per week. And that's all without exercise!1
-
I can eat 1800 calories (gross, not net) on days I do lots of cardio. Otherwise, being an older person, that's how I got fat in the first place. :ohwell: I've learned my lesson!1

Im 5'3, weigh 125.4 lbs and I eat between 2000-2200 calories depending on the day and the kind of exercise Im doing. I will be in maintenance mode probably in another week or two so my caloric intake will be even higher. When I take a day off (which is usually Sundays) I currently eat 1500 calories.0

YAY!!!!!!!!!
I'm all for eating a lot and losing I ate 2300+ on Sunday and 1700+ yesterday and lost 1.4 this week. I feel sad when my friends eat 1200 lol great job everyone!0 -

I started this journey at eating 1200-1300... Got great progress with my body dealing with the change of not eating tons of calories...After 2 months the scale stopped moving....I didn't take in count that my burns were extremely high in the 1,000's...So I increased my intake to 1500 and slowly climbed up to where now I eat up to 80% of my cals back....This method does not work for everyone....Really is based on your size, workout plan...(IMPORTANT) kind of food you are eating...(Not Junk).....Has been successful every since...I have loss 54 pds as of Valentine's..Putting me past my goal.....You have to do trial and error what works for YOU....0

I joined about 15 days ago and I will be 48 next month. I used to be 5'9 but after 2 back surgeries; I am 5'8. I started at 257lbs and have lost 18 lbs since then. My goal is realistically about 150lbs. I was eating 1810 but am now down to 1770 per day.
I do not count the exercise calorie intake unless I am hungry. I find I cannot eat the last 300-500 cal at the end of the day most days and so I won't force myself. However, the more calories I eat, the more weight I will lose. Just typically stay away from breads, pastas and potatoes for the most part. I eat what I want but just proportionately. I won't skip exercise unless forced to or I have a lazy day. I will try to get pics on here in the next few days.
Good luck and remember to eat and move. Thats the magic. :flowerforyou:

I started MFP back in Nov 2011 at that time i weight in at around 270ish. I started working out 3 times a week about 60mins each with a great class called Y not shrink it and thats when the weight started to come off. working out with a group is not only fun you have some one else tracking you and you need to answer to the group aswell i find that really helped when i first started cause trying to do it on my own just wasn't working. Also i started to notice that becasue my activity level was going up so must my calories to maintain the muscle growth and fat lose. My friend Jenny turned me on to the jig jag diet which is in a nut shell on the days your are resting (not working out) you stick to your stated calories from MFP and on the days you are working out you can safly go over by an extra 1000 calories. But i guess the point i'm making is that i'm steadly losing 5.75lbs a months and keeping it off i'm now down 23 pounds in 4 months and keeping it off. You also have to remember that it takes about 8 weeks to form a habbit so the new style of eating amd caloried counting will just stick and become second nature to you after that time frame. Good luck with your weight loss and friend me if you want0

I've just started eating more. I get between 1600 and 2000 calories a day usually depending on the day and how many calories I can get in and how many I burn. I started about a week ago to go up as high as 1900 some days and lost 1 pound a bunch of inches and have gone down almost a full % in Body fat according to my scale. Eating more is working for me. I burn between 500-1000 calories a day. This is new to me so I have been slowly trying to creep my calories up. So far so good.0

Love this thread.
I typically eat between 1600-2000 calories a day depending on my exercise level. I have Sunday as my 'cheat day', but that is also the day that I run 12-14 miles. I don't track calories that day. I am still trying to lose weight and have not lost anything for a few months, so I am back to tracking closely and trying to maintain 1600-1800 a day.0 -
On exercise days, I eat 2000-2200 usually, if I wind up counting. I probably eat that much on my rest day as well but definitely don't count. I'm down almost 30 lbs, most of it since October. I've lost over 37", including 5" off my belly, hips, and butt, each.
I want to look and feel great but I like food too much to go hungry. I have a cold/ sinus infection right now that's giving me a pounding headache anytime I move and I'm trying to stick with 1500 calories per day since I haven't done a bit of exercise since Saturday. The lower calories/ lack of exercise is starting to make me cranky. I can't imagine trying to stay at 1200!0 -

I'm loving this thread!
I started MFP last summer at the recommended 1200/day and after the first day I thought I was going to pass out! So I upped it to 1500/day and lost about 10lbs then I hit a plateau which I've been at ever since. I found if I was really good for a day at 1500 I would literally want to pig out the next day. Yesterday I upped again to 1800/day and for the first time in a long time I went to bed without feeling hungry. I'm crossing my fingers this will help.0 -
I'm now on maintenance at 2000 calories a day....net. I've lost about 20lbs since last year, and had a 1/2lb per week goal, which allowed me 1770-1820 net. However, it is very rare I eat under 2000 calories. I usually average about 2200 probably, but stay around 1800 net with my exercise. I like food too much, I couldn't do the 1200 calorie thing....I'm usually at or over 1200 after lunch!1

I can't even tell you how good that run yesterday was and how STRONG I felt.... my legs were like pistons... bahahaha
( not really but felt like it)
I am loving this thread and your comment. I lost 75# years ago with WW (and kept it off) and over the past 2 years started getting serious about losing 20# more. I've lost a grand total of 5# since June 2011. I've been a major gym rat and runner for about 4 years. When I started working out I saw amazing gains in my speed, strength, and endurance. Once I got serious about counting calories (started with Lose It) I noticed not just a leveling off but a decline in my workout performance. I was eating 1200-1500 total per day and burning 750-850 a day/6 days a week doing HIIT, cardio, and strength training. The math made no sense (not losing) and I assumed my performance was declining because of aging. This thread makes me rethink that, especially with so many 'shredded' girls on here eating so much food. I've lifted heavy for 2 years and see no definition like some of you are seeing. Yesterday I read a thread that convinced me to try 1750 a day regardless of exercise and I'm going to give that a month, even though it scares me to death.
I wonder if I will see a gain in the beginning and how long it might last be\fore the numbers start going back down.
If I only see an increase in my workout performance I'll be thrilled. In the past two years my running speed has slowed and my max number of pushups has declined. I really wonder if fuel could be the culprit.
Stats:
51 years old
5'6"
163
31.5% BF (in spite of working out hard 6-7x/week. This number has not changed in 2 years)
PS, be thankful if you have a good nutritionist. I took a 29 page spreadsheet that included my calories eaten, exercise, macro nutrients, etc. to a nutritionist and all I got was, "You're doing everything right. I don't know why you aren't losing. That will be $150 please." I'd love to find one who understands fat loss and muscle building.0 -

It would not surprise me if FUEL has been your issue. I don't even know how to describe yesterday's run, I was properly fueled and had tons of water in me, ( so much so I had to get off the treadmill and go pee then back on it lol ) I just felt energized and full of myself haha.... had not felt that in weeks.
By the time I went to the gym yesterday for my run I has 1055 calories into me already ..... that's why I felt great !0 -
This is a great thread!!! Glad I ran into it. Very motivational!!0
