I will. I want shoes off in my house, so I will do the same for others. If I don't see any shoes outside, I will clean my feet really, really well on the mat and usually they'll say "oh, it's fine" or "you can leave them out here" so I get my answer lol0

I find it soooo annoying when people require shoe removal. It's a pain in the *kitten* and can be uncomfortable and can ruin the look of an outfit. I would never ever have this rule for my own house. Of course I oblige people who request it as I am not rude, but man, it feels like such an imposition. Big pet peeve.
As a matter of fact I avoid going to "no shoes" houses when I can. Just find it so annoying.0 -
Only if they request I do, or if I see other people/them do it... or if they have white nice carpet. It doesn't always matter to people. Doesn't matter to me!0

It depends, my family no, the in laws yes. If I go to someone's home and they take their shoes off, I do also out of respect.0

no matter what, i always take my shoes off - in my home, or in someone else's. it's just polite! i get mad if people are in the house and don't take off their shoes, because it means i'll have to clean the floor after they leave :$0

Shoes off all the time. It is a sign of respect.0

I thought it was common curtsey to take you shoes off...hmmm0

I like the term out of respect! ty for sharing!0

I would like people to, white carpets are hard to keep clean! I feel wierd asking them to take their shoes off though. LOL! When we go to someone else's house i usually take mine off because i just don't like wearing shoes! Unless their house is dirty of course..0

I do if it is not my home or one of my family members. UNLESS, unless they tell me not to worry about it I like walking around in socks. The only time I wear shoes in my house is dressed for work or in my workout shoes0

i live in Asia. You switch into house shoes here. Also there are toilet shoes some places. You do not NOT wear shoes in someone's house.0

I do if asked. I don't require it since my floors are all hardwood. Just a note of contention, house shoes or slippers should be worn especially if your home is carpeted. The body oils from your feet that have been absorbed by your socks is transferred to the carpet fibers. This will actually make your carpets dirtier than if you just left your shoes on, unless they are dirty from the streets of course. This I learned from a guy that knows carpeting and cleaning. Kind of makes sense, I like the idea of house shoes.0

It seems to be a cultural thing. Many years ago when I lived in Kansas, that was never done. They would probably have looked at you funny or ask you what you just stepped in. Once I moved to Minnesota, I was embarrassed as I realized I was acting like a clod; everyone took off their shoes upon entering someone's home.0

My job takes me into a lot of homes, so I wear nice slip-off shoes and automatically take them off just inside the door, wherever I go. Occasionally someone will tell me to just leave them on, and I do. I'm not barefoot, though.....I keep my socks on!
If I'm going to a friend's home, I generally know if they are shoes-on or shoes-off, and I live by the "when in Rome" philosophy.
I always take my shoes off when I get home. I don't want to track dirt through my house, and I hate wearing shoes!!! When it's cold, I wear my slippers to the door, change into shoes when I leave, and then they are there for me to change into when I get home.0 -
Shoes come off before coming into my house and I always take mine off at other's houses too unless I'm told not to.0

I do take my shoes off and I expect others to too. It is just what I was taught growing up. However, I think people in the Southern US don't do this as much as we Northerners do. I grew up in the North but live in the South, and people in the South constantly ask me "where are your shoes?" when I take them off after entering their house My bf is Southern and I make him take his shoes off in our house now, but he didn't do that before we got together and his family doesn't either.0

Take lead from the person who's home it is. If they take them off, I do. If they leave them on, so do I.0
