Have you ever tried to climb the steps of a lighthouse? Not even thinking about mopping each step as you go and scrubbing the walls! Anyone who has committed to lighthouse cleaning has undertaken a serious task and you should be ashamed for making...er...light of their work!

Oh my! I'm SLOW. LOL I read about 5 comments including this quote before I finally "got" it. LOL That's too funny.

Hmm, I find it interesting that this bothers you so. Isn't that what a wife/girlfriend is for?

I would like to start a movement to eliminate the laziness of some of our fellow mfp pals. Lets help them help themselves!!!

Just a thought, but some people clean for a living... I am far from lazy, and I log due to it being part of my job.. .

This is funny...but to each it's own...log it or don't log it...as long as you are happy

I have worked up a sweat house cleaning! Especially if I am mopping or cleaning the kids rooms or the bathroom. Deep cleaning the bathroom in not easy! Neither is cleaning the garage!
Same here, I work up a better sweat cleaning, bending and scrubbing than I do walking at a moderate pace for 20 mins. Not to mention the soreness I can sometimes feel in my butt, thighs and arms after a big clean of the house.

Some people come to this site so overweight and unhealthy that even the slightest bit of movement causes them to sweat and to them, it feels like exercising. Just my thought.

Plus we all know that some use light cleaning as a euphemism for another activity.

I think cleaning this would burn a LOT of calories.

You can not judge what people consider exercise. Each of us is at our own personal stage. If light housekeeping is banned then slow walking should be as well, then what, when YOU get to YOUR next level are you going to ban the next thing??? Instead of calling others lazy, maybe you should encourage.

Very well put. Its not something I would log but if someone has done it and its above normal activity for them then good let them log it.

Why don't you worry about what you are logging, and quit worrying about what other people are doing. If they are on your friends list and you don't like what they log, remove them. You never know what other peoples circumstances are, so don't JUDGE.

I couldn't have said it better my self. My mother in law has fibromyalgia, So there for sometimes cleaning the house is a MAJOR work out for her

Wow, I bet it's fun to be YOUR friend. WTF do you care what someone else considers exercise? Frankly I NEVER clean my own house, I pay someone to do it. So those rare times when I do a deep clean I have worn my HRM and I do break a sweat. Of course I'm a fat@ss so what's strenuous and burns calories for me probably wouldn't do a thing for someone as fit and awesome as yourself.

It's actually quite fun being his friend :D
I see his point and I see yours also. The bigger problem is the fact you got so worked up over a silly post
Also light housecleaning does not do anything calories burned wise bc if it had I would be in great shape because I clean a mean house DAILY!

So if I run 5 miles a day a shouldn't count that as exercise? Great logic.

And a lot depends on how you have your activity level set. If you are sedentary, EVERYTHING but sitting on your butt should count. If you are not sedentary, and put your activity level as more active then some of those things don't, and shouldn't, count.

Those of you who think that people shouldn't be able to motivate themselves any way they can should just go join the judgemental hardbodies over at that "other" tracking site and leave people who are just trying their best to make a change for the better alone. You are the reason I won't join a health club until I am already fit.

Breathing burns calories, should we ban that too?
Burning calories is burning calories, and 'Light housecleaning' is better than sitting on the couch and flicking the remote buttons. Keep it, it's not like many people rely on it to make or break their week. Besides, does that effect your success in any way if others log 'light housekeeping'?

Junkpiles! I was too slow on the draw this morning. (sadly I thought it had to do with Lighthouses at first)

I found two suitable pictures for this post, I made the awsomer one my picture.

It's no one's business what constitutes exercise for another person. If they're losing and eating then they're doing what works for them. If they stall, then it may be time for more rigorous activity. I walk up and down my steps at home without thinking twice about it, someone else may find stairs difficult and the act of going up and down them one time is pretty tough. I don't log stairs, but probably others should. I don't log cleaning, but if simply standing is work then cleaning is hard work.
