    I eat hummus every day. I've been a vegetarian since I was a child and I reckon I've done just about everything with hummus. I've made several different types over the years and one of my favourites has a slightly chunky texture. It's my go to food!

    Just tossing my hat in the ring to see how the weather is in here. Apologies to all for not being around this month. I seem to be very busy. I have managed to keep up on my logging ang exercising, which is a good thing. I really can't promise that I will get any better before the end of the month, but I promise to get back when I can. Thanks for being here!

    Well hubby got notification yesterday that he didn't get the job he interviewed for last week:sad: So back to square one...again:ohwell:

    It's almost spring and we had said that come spring we would be making decisions about what to do if he didn't have a job...
    so now we will have to start getting serious about either selling the house and moving into a condo/twnhome here or moving into Mom & Dad's place in Southern Oregon (that still hasn't sold) or continuing on as we are but using our reserves....the hardest one is moving to S Oregon because that would mean leaving the grandkiddos here in Colorado:cry: I just hate having to make these kinds of decisions.

    Woke up this morning with my back hurting a bit and am hoping that by the time I get home it will feel better and that I don't have any excuses not to get in a full workout, well maybe excuse isn't what I mean but if I'm in pain I will be less likely to want to do a full workout:grumble:

    It's supposed to be in the low 70's again today and the grasses are starting to get green around the edges so the beginning of spring is right around the corner although here in Colorado biggest snow months are April & March so we will see if/when spring really does arrive:wink:

    Everyone have a good day today, drinking....water of course:drinker: , logging our foood and moving to burn those calories and fat off:drinker:

    Kettle bells are killer machines! :explode: They are the newest thing at our gym and whew! Hard work.

    My weight and body fat % are both down a little this week, that’s a good thing. :smile: All that "heavy lifting" is paying off. My WW scale gives me a bone density reading too. Is it possible to increase bone density or are we stuck with what we’ve got? Hmmm – must google that one.

    Great progress is being made on the downstairs renovation - base cupboards are installed and countertops are in place in the rental suite kitchen. We still have to finish the counter tops. DH has ordered the in-floor heating for my kitchen upstairs - which he will install from the basement, and then we can finally put a ceiling down there -- oh, progress. :happy: I have spent a lot of time being a construction flunky, sweeping floors and scampering up and down the stairs with tools and other bits and pieces.

    Jeannie – sorry to hear life is stress-full for you right now. Exercise really does help, so don’t forget to take care of yourself. :flowerforyou:

    Joyce, how are the hummingbirds? Still confused by the snow? :ohwell: We keep getting promises of spring here and then it snows again. Sigh.

    Lynn, enjoy your haircut & colour. I always feel so good after the pros get their hands on me. Send us a picture?

    Michelle, I agree with you about the people who attend meetings end up being “tapped out” for donations. The challenge is always to “widen the gene pool” and get $$ from a broader base, and it doesn’t sound like yours is a fundraising organization.

    JB how can you have too much cheer? :wink: Or too much salad! I too had an evening with friends last night and quite a lot of red wine. I stayed within my calorie count, but I feel a bit slow this morning and actually slept in until 8:30. The trouble with being on vacation is it's too easy to stray from the straight and narrow path! I will have to get Buster-the-Poodle out of bed soon so we can do our 5K and wake each other up.

    Barbie, I just realized that your two dogs, combined, weight almost as much as you do. :wink: No wonder you burn so many calories walking them!

    Issyfit & Deirdre – When the picture of Deirdre’s very fit husband came up I just about jumped off my chair in surprise! I instinctively took a quick look around to make sure that DH and J’boy were not close by :blushing: they already wonder why I spend so much time on the MFP “chat” page. Thank goodness I wasn’t at school.

    Meg – Loved your lessons from the treadmill post. I use one at the Rec Center that has a view of the soccer field and the swimming pool. No crooked curtain rods. No soccer players either, this time of year. My favourite thing is the miles per hour reading, it gives me the illusion that I'm actually going somewhere. :happy:

    Salad Sista's - my salad yesterday was grilled chicken breast, greens, cucumber & red pepper with Dijon mustard & low fat mayo. Today will be something along the same lines but with poached salmon.

    I made hummus yesterday too!:happy: DH loves it. I put tahinni and hot pepper flakes in mine. Another way to boost the flavour is to sauté the minced garlic in the olive oil for a few minutes before you add it to the mix. When garlic is in season and I have lots on hand I roast a whole head in the oven and use that. Now that’s yummous!

    Laura – sorry to hear you have such difficult decisions to make & I hope your back is OK. I am just beginning to understand how closely our bodies and brains are linked. Research makes it pretty clear than emotional stress will impact your physical well-being, and improving your physical well-being helps relieve emotional stress. :flowerforyou: You are right - keep moving!

    Hello All,

    Had time to read and catch up today while I'm eating my salad. Worked this morning and am oh so thankful for some quiet time in my yard this afternoon. I can't believe some are getting snow!! It's 80 here today and all the flowering trees are starting to flower.

    I have had to get into summer clothes and I'm happy to report, everything fits! I can't figure out the scale, but at least my crops and skirts fit for now. I'm hoping to trade them in for a smaller size soon, but at least I don't need to size up!

    Off to weed and take in some nature. :drinker: Remember to drink your water. Happy Hump Day!

    I just got done with 30 minutes of kettlebells, and yes, my heart monitor shows I burned 300 calories! What a work out.

    NSV Many comments this week that I have lost weight, when in reality the scale has not moved, so the kettle bells must be toning down my body.

    Today was quite calm at work. A welcome change from last week. :bigsmile:
    Today the weather is in the upper 70's to low 80's with a humidity level around 87%. I am not ready for summer yet.
    That humidity really gets to me. My energy level has been a bit low the last couple of days. Hoping it is better tomorrow.:happy:

    Hi all!

    Internet's back up after another "overuse" crash -- we have a satellite system here (NO high speed, NO cable, NO other system available) which severely limits our daily capacity, and then cuts us for 24 hours if we go over (15 year old in the house, warning, warning!). Needless to say, we go without from time to time!

    It has been a good month so far. It is the first time since seriously getting serious about all this exercise and logging stuff that it has felt easy. Time to upgrade, I suspect! I went to see the trainer who helps me set up workouts, and she gave me a whole new series for the next 4 weeks. She also helped with some new stretches for those places that get too achy and sore. Since I'm a professional flutist with several concerts coming up, the sore places in my arms are a concern. Keeping up with 60 minutes 6 days a week is feeling good! Adding more stretching to that now, though.

    So between dogs, construction projects, warm weather for some and cold for the rest of us (sigh) it is good to catch up with the many messages.

    Have a great Thursday tomorrow! I'll be going horseback riding with my daughter who is now back from British Columbia where she was visiting the boyfriend. That will feel great! Friday I'm off to the Royal Military College for a visit with my son who is considering going there and wants to see for himself what it is like. should be interesting...

    I have been trying to post this for 2 days but my computer keeps crashing; I hope this time I make it :grumble:

    First off, thank you so much for your support during the sale of the house; I was so stressed. Thank heavens it only took 8 days, we were lucky. I am looking forward to the move in June and I think I shall treat the downsizing part as Barbie has said - as a "spiritual experience"; a time to cleanse myself of things I/we no longer need :smile:

    Renny - I am glad your sister is okay :drinker:

    Joyce - Did you find out what happened with your shed :frown:

    tallen3687 - We are sailing out of Ft. Lauderdale; but we fly from Toronto first. I am looking so forward to it. I hope you enjoy your cruise too :drinker:

    Nancy - You are doing so well, good for you :drinker: And yes, my commute will be less when we move by about 20-25 mins each way, but more importantly, I won't have to take the expensive toll road at night any more :happy:

    Laura - I watch those surgery shows too; aren't some of them incredible:noway:

    jb - I can imagine how great the feeling was when your firneds complimented you on your weight. Congrats

    We had the Newcomers general meeting this morning. They had the 50/50 and the treasury got $32. I'm surprised how many people came to the meeting, maybe it was because for the first time ever the budget was approved. We'll see how many people come to the next few meeetings. Especially in summer, I'm betting not too many.

    The meeting ran LONG -- I just barely got to senior bowling. Actually, when I got there, they'd already started practice bowling. Now I'm home for a little bit, (did laundry, took out the garbage, had dinner) and then go back for Newcomer bowling.

    Laura - oh, I'm so sorry to hear your hubby didn't get the job. I know you'll make the right decision.

    Did an hour of Leslie Sanson walking DVD, tomorrow if we have time, I'll do a weight DVD. Not sure what time we're leaving for Jessica's. I'll log in on my phone.

    Well, going to watch some TV then go to bed. Hope everyone has a great evening.

    I leave in the morning to fly back out to MT for 2 weeks. We have booked flights for the new baby, her sister and mommy so that we can put the 3 year old on skis and I can take care of new baby a bit more. My son isn't all that happy about them flying but his job requires LONG hours and at least DDIL can have a bit of a rest with us and a lot of help. I have to rest up before then because I AM TIRED!!!!!!!!!!! :yawn: :yawn: :yawn: Got plenty of exercise but didn't get as many vegetables eaten as I do at home, so that will be on my agenda for the coming week!

    :flowerforyou: This has been a good day…..I got up extra early so there would be plenty of time for dog walking…….we danced to a lot of Irish music at line dance and most of us wore green. Someone brought shamrock shaped cookies but I didn’t have any :bigsmile: …..they looked good. We had turkey burgers (just the burger, no bun) with salad and peas with pearl onions for our big midday meal. We all took a nap this afternoon and slept until the phone woke me up, then Sasha decided that she needed to go out for another walk, so guess who got to take her :laugh: …..Hubby is out tonight with a friend so I have the house to myself for a few hours which gave me the chance to do yoga for the first time in much too long.

    Well it has poured down rain all day wind off and on. Knee throbbing tells me this storm is going to last a couple days.
    Hummingbirds just swinging in wind today. Bird feeder just under the eve. So the rain was coming straight down. So they just sat on the feeder keeping dry.

    I beginning to think it was somebody looking to see what they can get easily through the woods. I sit back off the road, in front of me neighbors would see somebody that doesn't belong. And believe me it would be quite the pack to the nearest logging road outback Almost a mile. We have horse & bike trails all over behind the house. Which I need to start using more of.

    Spring is busting out all over down here in Kentucky. Maybe I should call it 'Fring', because we seem to have skipped Winter all together and just melded Fall and Spring together.

    I have a new infatuation...polyclay. Oh, man, it's keeping me up at nights and distracting me away from my workouts. At least, I am keeping my calorie counts below the goal. I have soooo screwed up my March goals...except for the one where I wanted to weigh 210 by my birthday on the 30th. Made that goal at last weigh-in. Now, I just hope I can hold it there! LOL It was a three pound drop in one week, and I didn't really do anything to deserve THAT.

    Falling over now...terminal case of the Sleepies.

    Good morning ladies.

    It's a pleasant and sunny day in London - I've even got the front door of the gallery open. Probably not for long though - it does get quite breezy, plus once we get clients in I prefer the door to be closed.

    I've decided that I need a holiday - unfortunately there isn't much chance of getting any real break for the next few months. We are getting nearer the time of antiquarian book and map fairs, which is a tremendously busy time for us. (The gallery I work in sells mainly antiquarian maps, prints and atlases). We are booked to go across to the Isle of Wight to visit friends at the end of the month, but that's just an overnight stay, although I always enjoy the ferry trip. We are also going off to stay in Brighton for the weekend when my brother-in-law gets married next month. I really need a hot country holiday though.

    Anyway, I'd better stop wittering and do some work.

    beautiful day here in nc...:glasses: hope to ride again today...that lazy mare really needs work, but she is a bit stiff in her neck from spring vaccinations...maybe i will go easy on her today....and on me, the nasty old CFIDS seems to be rearing its ugly head today.:ohwell:

    is anyone else out there on fosamax? i take it once weekly and it seems to make me feel really crappy the whole day that i take it...anyone else notice that or is it just me? :frown:

    beth - weight is just a numbe, its more about how you feel and how you look, great NSV! :drinker:

    Nancy, you're absolutely right about the cheer, you can never have too much of it! :drinker: A cheery life is a good life. I know when I have to stop cheering, though, since I get a little cross-eyed and start spinning. And I don't mean spin class. :laugh:
    You're sure being a good lil Salad Sista! Mmmmm, chicken or salmon turns a salad into a wonderful meal. I was short on time yesterday so just fixed a big plate of baby spinach and sliced up a tomato. Mixed some hummus with a splash each of olive oil, balsamic and water, shook it up real good, made a wonderful dressing. Gobbled it down with a nice bowl of lentil soup on the side.

    Continuing on my mission to get rid of the flab on my arms. :grumble: The arm dangle WILL be gone one day, it simply has to be. I'm figuring it'll take a few months if not a full year of upper body workouts along with high impact aerobics and crunches which will help with the tummy dangle. Currently I'm using 3 lb weights, they seem heavy enough for now. :tongue: And what's up with the sagging skin on my forearms?? Mercy.

    Our little plants are growing nicely under the lights upstairs - peppers, eggplant, cabbage, broc, celery and a variety of flowers, all up about 3"-4" and happy as clams. Yesterday we started all of our tomatoes. They'll be popping up in no time flat. Everything will move out to the greenhouse in mid-April where they'll harden off and be ready for the ground come mid-May. Hubby and I will make a trip to the nursery this weekend for seed potatoes and onion plants before they're sold out. The garden is all prepared for planting, it's just that it's no fun to plant in the mud and it's just too cold yet.

    Oooo -- great recent topics. Arm flab! Horses!

    We have a great laugh here in Québec. There is a really great word for arm flab in our local French. They are called "hibettys" because the rich anglophone women used to have quite a bit of the flappy stuff, it seems, so the working class francophones named it for the ladies waving "Hi, Betty" across the fence! It's a great name for them, in any case, and we're always glad to see them gone. Get the weights up soon -- you can do it!

    As to lazy horses, my gelding is getting a lot of time off these days... It's too icy and muddy to ride out on the gravel roads yet, and we are sick to bits of the indoor arena. hmmph. I'll be in North Carolina in a week -- maybe I can get some riding in while down there! Whereabouts are you, Yvonne?

    JB -- I'll be starting all my plants soon too -- it is wonderful to hear about yours. We can't plant outside until early June, but will get the little germinators going soon.

    So I joined the salad sistahs today and had a lovely salmon number for lunch. Yummy.

    Well, no internet at home again (curse those teenagers who use up our capacity!!) and I'm in a café avoiding the goodies but drinking too much caffeine. Home, home -- it's time to exercise.

    Hibettys!!! I love it. Well I love the name, not that I have them. Been trying to catch up on everyone. Wow you all live such busy lives. I feel so lazy after I read what everyone has been doing. But is is motivating and hopefully I will get moving more next week. i really want to do Zumba and start with some weights but his week has just been getting ready for the 8K Saturday. Hopefully I will run 5 miles of it. It is supposed to rain but i will try to not use that as an excuse not to run.

    You all take care and have a great weekend if I don't get back here. And thanks for the motivation.
