I drink about 3 liters of water a day and about 2 cups of tea a day. I find that just keeping a liter bottle on my desk has helped me drink about a liter throughout the workday, then I drink a liter while i'm working out and then I drink a liter between working out and bed.
Remember that teas and coffees are diuretics. It's great that you drink a lot of tea though . just try having it around you constantly.0 -
I usually don't drink water unless I've just finished a workout or I go out to eat.
Lately, though, I've been buying the Propel packets to add to a bottle or glass of water and find I can down those pretty quickly. Had 4 of them yesterday. Most water i've had in a single day in a long time.0 -
Whether water helps with weight loss or not (still not medically proven) It IS proven that one needs water during the day. In order to be able to say you are properly hydrated, you want to look at your first morning urine. It should be light yellow. Chronic dehydration can lead to kidney problems, joint pain, decreased healing, quicker muscle fatigue, liver problems... etc. I think you get the picture. Whether it's 1 cup or 15 cups, make sure you track your need for hydration by your pee!0

I just recently bought a new cup with a straw that's 24 oz. There's something about drinking it from a straw that I drink more often. Plus it's much easier to keep track of what I'm drinking.0

I found a water bottle that I really like and depending on what size you get will determine if you need to drink 2 or 3 bottles full to get your daily water intake. I have to fill my bottle up three times to get mine but if you get a bigger bottle it only takes 2. The more you drink it the more you will want it.0

For some reason I find warm water much more appealing, especially first thing in the morning. Adding fresh lemon juice is nice, and sometimes adding stevia. How bout a nice warm "lemonade"?

Thank you for finding that article. Every report I've read online that used real science always came to the that exact conclusion. If it's a water based liquid (juice, tea, soda, etc...) it counts as water. Never was there anything in these reports about adding extra water for each caffinated drink.0

I just use a 1 liter bottle and refill it (I think it's like 33 ozs), so if you drink 2 of them a day you're getting 8 cups... I don't know that's it's required for weight loss so much, but it's what you're body really needs to function properly. Plus you don't hold onto as much water (bloat) because you're body knows it's going to get what it needs. Since I've been doing for like a month now, I don't have any more problems getting it in, I don't really drink anything else now, guess that's why0

I drink a lot of water. The recommended amount a day, but maybe a glass more. It does count as water if it's in juice, tea, and soda, but it's diluted SUGARY water. Carbonated water (as found in soda) is carbonated, used for sodas, but no one regularly drinks carbonated water (apart from soda). Just because other drinks have water does not mean you should drink soda regularly because it has "water" in it. Basically you could use Crystal Light, lemon, or lime for your water. I particularly don't force myself because I like water and have the occasional soda (maybe once a week), but I just drink it. Think of all the toxins in your body and then know that water washes those away for a cleaner, healthier YOU. It can help get rid of water weight, so you can find out your true weight.0

It is one of my main worries - I can't seem to drink enough water. If it were tea, I'd be fine! I only seem to be able to drink 4-5 glasses of cold water a day. Any tips on how to make it more "interesting" or how I can force myself to drink more?

You need the equivalent of 8 cups of water a day on average, from any source. These sources can be pure water/tea/coffee/juice/soda/milk/fruit/veg etc. It does NOT have to be pure neat water!

As for tea/coffee being a diuretic, so many people just spout that word as a reason, without actually understanding what "diuretic" means.

Neat water is also a diuretic. The diuretic effect of caffeine is far, far outweighed by the actual water in the tea/coffee. Also, regular consumers of caffeinated beverages will build up a tolerance to said effect, eventually reaching the point where caffeinated drinks provide practically the same amount of hydration as a cup of neat water will.

I use a 500ml bottle and fill that up 4 times a day, 5 if I've been working out. I try and schedule most of my water drinking around meal times, so my first drink of water is after my breakfast and morning coffee and then my other drinks before and/or after lunch and dinner. I try not to have the water too cold, as I find it harder to drink and never drink water 2-3 hours before bed, otherwise I'm up needing to pee all night. I never used to be a big water drinker, but I really enjoy it now and it definitely keeps me from bloating and my skin is nice and clear too. I like old fashioned plain water, but some people swear by flavoured water or fruit in their water to give it some taste.0

Weirdly, for me if I drink too much water I get a raging headache. Dunno if it's even related to the water intake, but that's why I don't ever really get to 8 glasses a day. I too drink only when thirsty, never just for the sake of it.0

I've gotten on the Propel Zero brand recently, they are flavored waters with 0 calories, but also contain Vitamins C, E, and B along with antioxidants. I was horrible about water intake, and usually preferred diet soda to anything else, but since I found a flavored, 0 calorie water, I pound over the required amount on a daily basis, and have been 2 weeks without soda Good luck!0

I seldom drink water - I have to force myself to drink it. I just don't do it - I don't hate it, I just don't drink it. I go with the advice of my doctor, who said, "Drink when you are thirsty, period. All you are doing is making your other organs work to get rid of it." She said you should keep a glass of anything with you or on your desk, ever. If you're thirsty, get up, drink, stop when you're not thirsty. If you are not thirsty, don't drink. Works for me. I think all that drink 8 glasses a day is hooey! :-) If you need it, fine. If you don't, fine. But why force yourself to do it?0

I drink a ton. I have one of those cute platsic tumblers with the straw -- actually I have a bunch of them. One in my car, my desk at work, my desk at home... Never without one, so I have no excuse not to drink. Plus, I find the straw makes me drink more.
Iced green tea with lime is especially good, but if I don't have time to brew it, then I'l just take a big jug of water with lemons or limes or fruit or herbs or whatever to work with me. I bring a baggie of extra "whatever" on days when I know I'll be staying late or running errands, that way I can still have delicious water.0 -

While at work it's easier. I sit at my desk so I try looking at the clock and drink a glass every hour until I reach my mark. Before I did that I almost never got it in. Also, you could buy a bottle that holds 64 oz and make sure it's empty before bed...0
