I run a retro and collectable toy shop.

Half our buyers are adults - some are collectors, but others just enjoy a trip down Memory Lane.

What were your most loved toys when you were a child... and why?

LOL, my Teddy Rugspin I think it was called? I just thought it was cool to stick a Metallica tape in it and watch it sing along

I got a rope for Christmas one time. True story.

I loved that rope. Father took it away when I tried to lynch my sister.

    My popple,

I would roll it into the ball, and have the tail hanging out, then I would dangle it from my bed by the tail as I fell asleep...it would protect me from anything under my bed

cheerful tearful doll. You could pull down its arm and its face would change to a sad expression and cry.

MOON SHOES WERE AWESOME! Except when a bee was chasing me, then it was just... hilarious.

I loved the Shopping Sheryl, because it's the only thing I've ever seen my name on that was spelled "right"
My Winnie the Pooh stuffed bear that I got on my 5th birthday (he's 45 now and looking well-loved)
Boardgames: Clue ... played it LOTS.... and "Cross Over the Bridge" - loved that pop-a-matic dice thingy!

The Little People A-frame house. I loved that thing. I can still picture playing with it in my house. I want one now. :)

I still have my Cabbage Patch dolls from the early 80s.

I loved the Rainbow Brite dolls.

    Pound puppies

Barbies--I had about 15 Barbies and a few Ken dolls and a bunch of accessories. I always wanted the Barbie dream house but never got it.

I can't exactly say they were toys but...my grandma worked for a Dr. and he gave her a huge box of glass eyes. We used to spend hours goofing around with those things. I wish I had them now, they are probably worth a lot of money.
Real toys? I'd say my Easy Bake Oven, Creepy Crawlers bug maker thingy, my rock polisher and a little, red, metal cash register. lol

Barbies! Me and my sister played with them endlessly - made up complicated stories to act out. I also had quite a big Smurf collection...

Barbie. That bia had everything. Also it was fun to make them act out the soap operas my grandmother taped religiously. [shakes head] And I wonder where I went wrong. lol.

Oh, and the other day when visiting Mom she hands me this Lemon Meringue happy meal toy. I open it and immediately stuck it under my nose, and it smelled like the dolls did when I was a kid. I'm pretty sure she thought I was on crack when I said "It smells like my childhood."

I was really lucky that in my church there were quite a few retired men who had been joiners etc. in the past and my mum paid a group of them to make me a doll's house. It was awesome! Was 100 times nicer than any of the plastic crap that you could buy in the shops....it was really a work of art.

My mum would take me to a local toy shop to buy furniture and dolls for it every so often (Sylvanian families!). I loved it and still had it in my room when I was a teenager 'cause it was so beautiful.

On one hand, my Barbies. I was super imaginative and made TV shows, played "1996 Summer Olympic Magnificent 7 team," even did time-period play (colonial, prairie, etc.) And then on the other hand, I love love loved my Batman action figurines and Batman castle.

Hot Wheels & /or Matchbox cars and that orange slip-together-track. Had a great collection until my little brother came along and STOLE them. *harrumph. ;)

I loved my Barbies to be honest... I just liked dressing them up... and recreating the soap operas I used to see on tv (I was homeschooled and usually done by that time...)

My husband is trying to rebuild his Teddy Ruxpin bear.

Lego castle. GI Joes were cool, so were transformers, but nothing topped the lego castle.

My cousin and I built it into the tower of london.
