New to MFP - looking for other females who primarily weight train.

Would love to keep in touch to share progress, help keep each other motivated, and bounce ideas off each other. I'm planning to compete in figure next year so a lot of my training is in anticipation of that.

Friend me! :)

Stronglifts 5x5 right now, 3x a week, and almost nothing else because I am too damn lazy.

I do some cardio because I also do some running race throughout the year, but my goal is to lift more! I did most of Jamie Eason's Live Fit Trainer (stopped b/c of some health issues) and loved getting back into lifting after taking too many years off! I also do Body Pump class with some friends once a week. So most of this year I was lifting 4 to 5 days a week, but I just started Stronglifts 5x5 yesterday so I will be doing that 2 to 3 times a week, maybe still doing Body Pump and running 3 days a week to build up endurance for my first race of the year in May!

For those of you doing the 5X5 - how are you liking it so far? Have heard great things about it and may definitely consider trying that out!

I lift weights 3x per week, plus other strength building exercises a couple times a week (pole and body weight exercises). I also do cardio (there are health benefits to having a strong cardiovascular system), but it's not my primary focus.
  • That is awesome! I weight train with cardio mix. I have a trainer to help me thru the lifting process making sure I do it properly. Love seeing women doing weight training as part of their process.

Been doing NROL4W for a few workouts. Recently picked up some heavier weights too. I inherited some sissy weights from my parents and needed to up the bar!

Here! I lift regularly. I just finished stage 1 of NROL4W and I'm looking into starting the Stronglifts 5x5 program.

Side note: I also am a runner, so I do some cardio as well. My first half is coming up and after that I'm cutting back on running and focusing more on strength training.

I'm training for The Spartan Sprint in May, so I'm working on building muscle too.
I've done P90X, Turbo Fire, and Insanity: The Asylum. My good friend is studying to be a personal trainer and I'm her guinea pig of sorts. We're doing lots of lifting. Oh and run at least once a week.

I've been doing it faithfully for a month. I lift 3-4x a week. I do cardio 5x a week, well, because I need to so fat and strengthen my heart and lungs. Count me in! You can send me a request! I would love some motivation! I need motivation.

I've been doing it for 3.5 weeks now. REALLY like it. My squats were stuck at 95lbs for like 2 months. Now they are up to 115lbs.

Hi. I just started back lifting this week. I'm doing CharLean Extreme to start. I'm also re-reading NROLFW. I've been researching on Bodybuilding.com about how I should be lifting. I'm focusing on fat loss right now so I do zumba everyday to get a good cardio burn and then I lift every other day.

    Feel free to friend me.

I started working with a personal trainer doing strength training and lifting about a year and a half ago and it has been amazing! I work for him now and he is a competitive body builder and trains others to do the same. He has encouraged me to train for a figure competition, but I am not ready for that yet. We'll see!

I'm about 10 lbs. from my goal weight and I plan 2 start my heavy lifting program next week. It looks like I'm starting to lose my hips and butt so I know its time to cut back on my cardio. I usually do cardio & weight training combined 3 to 4 days a week. Would love the support from you all and I'll give the same supoort as well. Feel free to add me.
