mine is 1797 according to fitness frog... crazy! MFP has me on 1200! Should I be eating at that???

Remember that TDEE is BMR plus exercise, and MFP does not add exercise calories into it until you do. So you could eat 1200 + exercise and be right there at 1797. It just depends on how you exercise.

About 3,000 except for Sundays, which lands me about 2400 or so. 5' 9" and 152-ish.

This is according to my Body Media Fit, which is my best friend ever.

Its 1916, with no activity. I just upped my calories to 1700 on MFP. However I haven't eaten that many yet. I'm working up to it slowly.

FitnessFrog says my TDEE is 2859, sedentary.

I aim to eat 2450-ish, which is what Fat2Fit Radio says I should eat for my goal weight @ sedentary.

I work out every-other-day-ish, and I eat back my Bonus Calories until I net *at least* my BMR, which is currently about 2050-2400, depending on the formula (I just say about 2100 net and I'm happy).

    what's a BMF?

BMR - The basal metabolic rate (BMR) is the base rate at which your body consumes calories for basic metabolic functions like maintaining internal temperature, repairing cells, pumping blood, powering muscles at rest, etc. In other words, it is the rate at which your body consumes calories when at rest.

You would burn these calories if you were in a coma. You need to eat your BMR calories for your body to function properly and then more if you workout. There's a ton of threads on here about eating your BMR.

    ^ great definition of BMR.

A BMF is a bodymedia fit. It's made by the same company that makes the bodybugg and it tracks your daily calorie burn.

To answer Sunshine: My BMF is showing 2000 on non workout days. I'm going to the gym in about 15 minutes so I'm excited to see my burn tomorrow am.

    Edit: I'm 5'4" 133 lbs

Mine too! Before I had assumed that my TDEE was 1700 because a few calculators gave me that and from my point of view i thought i was not very active. Undereating by 1000 calories -.-

    I am 5'9 and 126Ibs
Apparently my BMR (no activity at all) is 1351 (seems really low?)

My tdee is around 2331 exercising 6 days a week or so.

Still seems low compared to many here, but oh well.

According to my Bodymedia armband, about 2,800 with little a desk job and no exercise. I'm male, 6'0", and weigh about 206.

If I do some cleaning or yardwork, I'm up to 3,100 or maybe a little more.

Sometimes I think I forget this xD I always see that "average" women have a TDEE of 1800. SO to think mine is almost 1000 calories more blows my mind! Heh

Seems like many people are in the same spot I am. Good job guys :D

In general, I've found that these "averages" that you see posted on websites, and most Internet TDEE calculators, are wrong. For instance, most calculators underpredict my TDEE anywhere from 300-500 calories per day.

In fact, when I entered my age-height-weight-gender info to set up my BMF, it predicted my TDEE would be 2,300, but it's always at least 2,700!

if you have your weight loss per week goal high it will give you the bottom calories number this program will go which is 1200.

always eat your BMR calories and if you exercise eat most of those back as well, your body will thank you . and give up the necessary weight.

    I am:
    5" 3"
    180lbs
    37 years old

    BMR 1555
    TDEE 1866 (desk Job)

I had my goal at 1lbs per week and MFP calculated 1330 per day, I manually adjusted mine and have it set @ 1600 per day and I am still right in line with the 1lbs loss per week.- and I eat my exercise calories back.

So, if my TDEE is 2842 and I want to lose 2 pounds per week, that means I have to cut 7,000 calories per week or 1,000 per day.

So, should I be eating 1,000 calories less than TDEE per day? That would be 1,842 cals/day ...which sounds really high....

Going off various online calculators they all say around 1650 with no exercise. When I do cardio I usually burn 200-300 calories (that's taking 10% less than what exercise machines have calculated based on my sex/age/weight) but I don't do cardio every day and have no idea what I burn doing strength training or pilates type exercises.

    ETA I'm 21, 5'6 and 58-59 kg
