I was out for a pre-breakfast 32 miles today and decided to make a mental note of all the animals I saw. All were less than 10 miles from a large town or city.

Various garden birds, including 3 from the finch and some school ground humour – a pair of great tits
3 or 4 breeds of sheep
Horses
Various vermin: 2 rats, a mouse, a fox & 2 squirrels
A random goat
Lamas
2 red kites
1 buzzard
Rabbits & hares (more school ground humour….)
2 gorgeous deer that had wandered down from the woods, so were about 10 metres away before they ran off
A small herd of cows
3 dogs (being walked)
1 cat (not being chased by the dogs)

List what you last saw....excluding any walks around a zoo!

I saw a crowing rooster! I live downtown in the historical section of my city - very odd!!! It was 5:45 am so I didn't see much of any other animals because it was dark, but the full moon was beautiful. Very low in the sky - like you could almost touch it!!!

My runs take me around a farm, some lakes and woodland. In the farm i see..
    Donkeys
    Sheep
    Big Hairy Cows
    Alpakas (llama type things)
    Goats

around the lake i see a of watery type birds like Geese, ducks, Herons (very impressive to see them flow low over the lakes) and all sorts of other birds that i dont know the names of

and through the woods i see a lot of Squirrels, pheasants, rabbits, the occasional deer if im out early enough.

..but far the most common animal i see out on my runs tho are dogs.. who usually have their human in tow :)

I see deer almost every day. I always see hawks, buzzards, pileated woodpeckers and a wide variety of song birds. I expect I'll start seeing black bears again pretty soon. They're up and active again!

(I live in the mountains and hiking is my primary form of exercise)

I saw this beautiful Cougar at the gym. I wanted to go up and pet her but thought better of it.
  • I am impressed with your list!

    I have seen the following
    - horses
    - dogs
    - skunk
    - deer
    - birds
    - snakes
    - frogs (I have splatted many running on the trail)
    - a Macaw (Yep, the colorful tropical bird. Some lady was running with her pet, it was awesome.)

I exercise at home, but I have an elliptical which I use in my conservatory, the neighbours cat has a tendency to come and watch me. I get the feeling this is payback for all the cats I've looked at on the internet.

I saw this guy and 4 manatees.

    Very jealous, I love manatees.
  • Hey, sometimes I have a fox run with me.
Then I see grey squirrels and the usual birds - a friendly robin (red breast), cats and then there's the dog walkers I frighten whenever I run past them

    Wow, mine are pretty boring.

I see children, dogs the occational cat and birds.
  • Wallabies, parrots, eagles and lots of dogs. I also play golf with kangaroos regularly. They're not bothered by the golfers, but they steer clear of the tourists and dogs.

Oh you guys see all kinds of neat things! I usually only see:
Grey, Brown, and/or Black squirrels (all of which my dog is obsessed with)
An opossom every now and then
    birds
fish when i run by the lake
    other leashed dogs

I'll have to keep my eyes open next time to see if there are any other neat things about :)

I saw a pile of hair and bones that was an possum before it and a car crossed ways, a few Canadian geese and that's about it. Then again, this week's running route is all within sight of the Detroit metro airport.
  • Oh mine are boring- a plethera of squirrels and lots of urban foxes! Birds too but I have no idea what they are.

Porcupine wouldn't get out of my path last night, had to bike around it. Then I saw a hare run across my path. No deer or moose last night, although plenty of tracks.

I once saw a poor dove fly headlong into the glass while I was running on the treadmill at my apartment gym. D:
