32 mins, then I did the same race last year in 27:34, I'm hoping for <25mins this year!0

I've done 3 or 4 5ks over the last few years but I've yet to be able to run the whole thing. I did not really do any "training" prior to those so I'm hoping this Saturday will be my first one that I run the whole thing. (fingers crossed!) My times with jogging/walking the first few range from 38-42 minutes, so I am hoping to beat my 38 minute time. Good luck to you on your first 5K! How exciting! I wish I could have run my first one all the way through! 31 minutes is an excellent time!0

I did a small one at the local university.
Shocked myself - Time: 25:16 / Pace: 8:08 / 25th overall (25/177) / 2nd in my age group.0 -
29:35.
I'd been running for about 4 months, and finished C25K about a month prior to my first 5K.0 -
Hello Lovely MFP peps. in a little over a week i will be running my first 5k im very new to running so im extreamly nervious about it... my goal is to just finish, and not to walk any of it... Ive been practicing a 3 mile run lately and i can complete it in just under 31 minutes. which to me i know isnt the fastest, but it is totally awesome because on the tredmill it took me over 40 minutes just a short 3 weeks ago.
im curious to see what all of your first 5k run time's were. did you enjoy it? how long had you been running before you signed up?
Thanks in advance for any responces
29:59 on St Patricks day 20120 -
My very first was run in January 2011 and I did it in 41 minutes.
My last 5k I ran in February was done in 35:08.
Slowly but surely seeing improvement.0 -
I just started running this year (in January I couldn't even run a quarter mile... I'm VERY new to running) but I stuck with it and I ran my first 5k a few weeks ago in 33.20, then my second in 33.17.
I can finally run 6 miles!!! I'm so excited to run a 10k!!! (:0 -
I came from a sprinting background so endurance was not my strong suit, the first 5k time that I remember would have been in 2008 around 24min0

-
1st ever 5K was 27:43....fast pace for me as all training runs were in 9:40/Mile range. You will run faster in a group/race atmosphere.....but try to run your own race and enjoy it!! Congrats!!!0

It was a while back, but I wanna say it was somewhere around 34 minutes? I haven't run a 5k in a while (I've been focusing on half marathons and 10 milers, but gonna be getting back to shorter distances for a while over the summer), so I assume my time would be a lot better now, but 34 minutes ain't bad for my first time!!0
-
Mine first official 5k was 44:55 it was an offroad race through woods, sand, and hills. I did zero training for it.0
-
A miserable 48:18...0

52 minutes! But I was walking with friends. After 6 weeks of C25K it was 39:16 and my goal was to be under 45min. Still working towards under 30minutes.0
-
26:24...then my second (which was the very next day) 24:12.0
-
I think I was around 35mins or something. I hope my time will be better the second go around in two weeks!0
-
i signed up for my 1st one next month- hoping to do it in under 40. Good luck to you!0
-
I ran my first one March 31st and ran a 31:45. I'm signed up for one next weekend, one in May, and one in June already.....they're very addictive and so much fun!0
-
29.53. It was -10 degrees, 20mph winds with an inch of "slush" on the road. Fun stuff lol0
-
I just did my first one last weekend surpassed my best training time by coming in at 28:25. I still have no idea how I did that! When I run at lunch, I generally average around 33 minutes (and I blame that on these two back to back long hills, which I have a love/hate relationship with ), so if you are averaging 30 minutes, I bet you find come race time, when you're out on the course, the excitement, comraderie and adrenaline will all give you a bit of a boost! Good luck! Post again and let us know how you did!0
-
You are well on your way to blowing us all out of the water so don't be nervous you will be FANTASTIC! My first 5k I'm also a new(er) runner was 32:38. And your goal was my EXACT goal also...... I didn't want to walk any of it...well till I was actually running it then I was like that was stupid goal..I wanna walk. You know how the mind plays tricks on us. I didn't walk and I did finish. yay! Update us please when you have your race time.0
-
I did mine last year in 45 mins. I did 5 min run then 1 min walk until i reached the finish line.0
-
Great u'll probably do the race in lesser time..it took me 30 min when practising, on race day, i finished in 28.26..a good 2 min better than my practice pace.0
