WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST 5K RUN TIME

My first 5K in 5 years was last friday and I completed 8 weeks of training for it. I had to stop and walk 3 times because I was SO hot! I ran it in 35:13 which I was really pleased with. I have a 10km in a week and a half and I'm hoping to complete that in 75 minutes but we'll see, as long as I finish I'll be happy! LOL!
I still have 20lbs to lose but I'm just starting to really enjoy running. I have another 5km in June so I'm hoping to get an under 30 min run in with no walking!
Good luck!0 -
My first and only was in November for a friend's fundraiser. I didn't take it seriously and was with friends pushing babies in strollers. We stopped for a garage sale and I Facebooked on the way. I think they stopped the clock about an hour in... and we may or may not have taken a wrong turn and crossed the finish line from the backside.
I'm not proud.

My first one was last weekend and I ran it in 28:42! I was soooo pleased. I started training about six months prior and all my training runs were much slower - more like 32 minutes. I'm pretty competitive though0

About 31 mins. You can do it!!0
-
My first race was a 6K, and I did it in 33:30. I was happy with it, I am NOT a fast runner by any means.0

My first 5K was in 2005. I had been running, albeit inconsistently, for about 18 months. I ran 27:56, which was about 3 minutes faster than anything I had done in training. There is definitely race day adrenaline.0

My first 5K was last Saturday, and I ran it in 33.19...ran the entire way, and had a blast.0

I ran my first 5K in 28:40. I was running it in 31 minutes on the treadmill right before the race. They say with all the adrenaline on race day u can average about a minute off each mile so u should easily run in in under 30 min. Good luck!! They are so fun.0

My first race is in three and a half weeks. I will be 2 weeks done with Couch to 5K program. My goal for the two weeks in between is just to see if I can get my time down. Good luck!0

You are so totally right. My first 5k was 24:53. But i took me 28 minutes on the treadmill.0 -
First 5k was in 2004 with a time of 31:53. I thought I was going to die going up the last hill. It was the first time I ran that far without a walking break. (since then I've completed three 100 mile races and I still run slow)0

I did a small one at the local university.
Shocked myself - Time: 25:16 / Pace: 8:08 / 25th overall (25/177) / 2nd in my age group.
AMAZING TIME for your first race WOW!!0 -
You are well on your way to blowing us all out of the water so don't be nervous you will be FANTASTIC! My first 5k I'm also a new(er) runner was 32:38. And your goal was my EXACT goal also...... My first 5K was about a month after I started running. In June of 2010, I couldn't run a mile. In July, I did a 5K in 34:33. My best time is just under 23 minutes.
Good luck with yours!0 -

My first 5K is in a week and a half. I walk/run it on the treadmill anywhere from 40-44 minutes. Seems so slow compared to some of the times I see on this thread. Now I feel bad about myself.
(It's alright though.)0 -
First one was over 30 I am sure. Maybe about 31 - it was easily 10 years ago
PR is 22:30 which was this year. I hope to break 22 this year.0 -

Don't feel bad.. :flowerforyou: Keep at it, your time will improve. I am going your pace and getting stronger everyday. My 1st 5K will be later this summer. I hope to keep it around 35.
Good luck to the OP! You are doing great!0 -
My 1st 5k was 48 min, I did not prepare to the 5K I just went and did one. My current time now is around 32 min, I would like to have it around 30 I would be happy with that time. I try to do a 5K every couple of months.
Good Luck0 -
My first official 5k was back in 2000 when i was 16 and I finished in around 27 flat. In December 2010, I weighed about 190 and decided to run to get back in shape. My first 5k was in feb. 2011 in the registration line an older gentleman told me how he goes w/his wfie monthly all around the country to do races and that i'd catch the bug. didn't really believe that i would but i enjoyed talking to him. I finished in 28:06 and he was right. I've done at least one a month since, with my PR being 23:27. I've got my first full marathon in September and a Twitter 5k (follow @seedouglasrun if you're interested) on April 28th. Just shooting for sub-26 this time.0

First in January @ 28:16
Second, last weekend @ 23:56.
I had ran quite a bit prior to my first actual 5k in January. Charted a plan with the Runnersworld.com Smart Coach for my second one to improve my time. I was pleased.
You'll do great. The object of my first 5K was simply to finish. I didn't really worry about the speed of it.0 -
I was 46 when I ran my first 5K. I completed it in 31:29. I've run several since then and have come to realize that a lot of factors will determine how well you do. The weather being the most influential. My slowest time was 34:21 in late June in New Orleans. Too humid.. I've since learned not to run races in the sweltering heat.
Wear a watch or a gadget that will give you your pace time so you can be sure to pace yourself. Have fun!0 -
My first 5k was my only year of CC in high school as a senior. 19:something. I'd been running track since 7th grade.
Since then I've run everything from an 18 flat to a 25:something0 -
I've only done one 5K race (this past December) and my time was 24:33, but I have done other 8Ks, 10K and Half Marathons. Kind of odd that I had never done a 5K before but I liked it. I'm sure I'll do more!
Good luck with your first race! : )0 -
My first was 24:30ish, last June. My PR is 22:28 last October. I started running with c25k April '11.0
