What food did you give up?

One food I crave like crazy (because I LOVE it) is pasta. This would be the food I have basically given up all together. It doesn't seem worth it to only be able to eat 2 ounces of it for about 200 calories!
I made pasta with meatballs for dinner a few weeks ago at my husband's request and I was surprised by how much the 2 oz ends up being after it's cooked! Pre-MFP I was probably eating 3 oz in a serving, so with my smaller stomach - seems to have adjusted to the smaller portion sizes - it fills me up. Just watch what sauce you're putting on it - I ended up only having three meatballs with my tomato sauce and I think my total for the meal was right around 500 cals (I skipped the garlic bread).0 -
Sugar. OH how I miss chocolate, ice cream and doughnuts!
If you love pasta so much, why don't you just get one of those pasta lean cuisine meals sometimes?0 -
I only gave up regular soda. I'm officially drinking diet now, which I'm not a huge fan of, but it's worth it. I still eat pasta, pizza (not much), and enjoy my wine. MFP makes it so manageable!0

Did you know that Sams CLub has bagel thins in everything bagels? I found these and was super excited! 100 calories and it comes in wheat, cinnamon raisin, and everything. Not as good as the real thing but if you are looking for a treat, I recommend this! Works great for making breakfast sandwiches! tomato, lettuce, egg and everything bagel! yum!0

I was a Pepsi addict. I gave up drinking all sodas about 6 months ago. The only thing I missed was the carbonation. I now drink Perrier bottled water for my occasional "fizz."0

Gave up Fast food0

I noticed a big difference when I stopped drinking diet soda, it's what I grew up on, I drink a lot of water now, and every once in a while I get into Crystal light.0

Gluten, wheat (I miss you bread!), sugar, beef, any diet products, diet pop, starchy vegetables, high sugar fruit, butter... sadly I can't eat most of these things in moderation, so it is truly easier for me to avoid them altogether.0

The biggest thing I have had to cut was sweets. I used to eat alot of chocolate and sugary cupcakes/cookies, etc. I still have some here and there on weekends but I try to cut back and portion myself out. I haven't really eliminated anything. I love pasta and bread too much get rid of them. I know try to eat whole grains for bread and well pasta I cant stand whole grain so I limit myself to the 2 oz. Its all about moderation!!0

This is my first week with MFP, but it's the second week for me giving up beef & pork! It's really challenging because I am a true fan of pork skins! I started with a small goal with no meats for a week, then after I completed the week I decided to eat chicken & fish once a day. I eat lots of fruits & vegetables throughout the day, as well as snacks and plenty of water.0

ugh!!! french fries...good job!! they are a weakness of mine! i love them...and yes...i even love the smell in my car!! way to go!0

I work in an office and it's like the salesman and customers think we live on donuts and cookies with the odd batch of cupcakes thrown in every now and then for good measure. I walk right past that crap now. I do keep 100 calorie packs of hostess chocolate cakes with cream filling in my desk drawer for when the 'filing cabinet food' becomes tempting.0

You don't need to give it up entirely - just switch it to a wholegrain pasta. Or use an alternative - a tasty recipe I make myself is sweet potato and spinach gnocchi and I'd now rather have that than pasta pretty much every time. It's still around 200 calories, but they are SO worth it. I have the recipe on my blog here: http://losingitallwithmfp.wordpress.com/2012/03/24/sweet-potato-and-spinach-gnocchi/0

Giving up something you love is just begging for you to go on a binge. Learn to keep it in your diet and tweek it to make it a little healthier. I lost all my weight while eating pasta, bread, fried food and even my beloved Samoas.0

Mostly bread, white rice, milk chocolate (only have dark chocolate) and pasta.0

What food did you give up??
2 ounces is a whole plateful and quite filling. Just sayin'.
I gave up nothing. I choose healthier options most of the time, but I still eat everything I used to eat.
^^THIS. I still eat anything I want, just in smaller quantities and less frequently.0 -
Mine food is queso and ruffles0

For now? Sweets. They're just too much of a trigger food. It's spring and usually my sister and I make a ton of ice cream or Rita's runs, but so far not yet. Right now, I'm keeping my sweet tooth in check by eating fruit or things like greek yogurt cups, or (no sugar added) applesauce. So far so good as I didn't attack the Easter basket this year, the pie in the fridge, and I've driven past the ice cream shop many times (I have a coupon for a free sundae, mind you.)0

Potato chips. Technically I haven't completely given them up, but I've cut WAAAAAY down. I'm trying to give them up though.
I've always been a sucker for salty snacks - I could give up candy in a heartbeat, & I don't even drink enough soda to consider giving it up (one a month, maybe), but I used to eat half a large bag of chips in one sitting, a couple times a week 0_00 -
I no longer drink Soda! I would drink it all day if I had the option so I just omit from my diet.0

My Dr. Pepper!0

There's really no such thing as "good" or "bad" food, so I haven't given up anything.
That depends on the food and person. But for everyone there are better and worse foods.0 -
I can't give up on anything but I cut down on a lot bad habits, soda, baked goods, excessive sugar, fried foods, chips, etc.0

Nothing!!!!!!!!! :-) I gave up absolutely nothing. I'm trying to live my life now the way I will want to live it until I die. Do I really want to go my entire life without a single bag of buttered popcorn, not one oreo cookie? Nooooo... moderation, baby.

I used to enjoy the occasional Cinnabon, but can't justify blowing through two-thirds of my daily calories to have one.0
