About 9:30, which I'd like to improve on, but is MUCH better than the 15 minutes when I was 250pounds 1.5 years ago.0

5:470

I think my best was right around a 10 minute. That was last May right before I sprained my ankle. I haven't ran since around October.0

5:47 on the track last year at 42 years old. My goal is to go under 5:30 this summer.0

UGH! Discouraged after reading this. I ran a 10:30 mile the other day for the first time.(I usually run a 12) I was so excited until I read these post and realized that I have a long way to go. Guess I will just have to push myself a little harder.0

I haven't actually tried to run a mile at full pace for 15+ years, so I don't really know what I can do now. My personal best in the high school days was 4:50. Probably the fastest full mile I've done in the past 5 years was 7:30 as part of a two mile run. I'll have to take a shot at seeing what I can do now. : )
For anyone who feels discouraged.....don't. Some people are just genetically geared to run and others aren't. Anyone can be a good runner with enough effort, but sometimes, that's a lot of effort. Enjoy whatever improvements you get. FWIW, even though I could run a sub 5 minute mile 20+ years ago, I normally run at around a 9-10 minute pace these days.0 -
When running 2+ miles, I'm able to keep about a 10min mile pace.
But my fastest and current single mile time is 9.
My goal is to bring both those times down one minute!0 -

Don't be discouraged! It has taken me 8 years of consistent running to get to where I am.
And don't push harder, push longer and further. You have to increase the time on your feet, the total miles and your body will become more efficient, bring your pace down naturally. Keep it up!0 -
fastest ever was 5:40 back 20 years ago while in the Military and at 160lbs lol... recently best has been 8:49 at 42 and 220lbs i just finished c25k program which has helped my running greatly... Now i've restarted the program doing it 6 incline on the treadmill to increase leg strength and hopefully faster speeds0

Depends on who is chasing me. If it's the cops I can run pretty fast.0

But have you tried running just a mile as quickly as you can? Just by coincidence I watched a film last night about some lad trying to run a 4 minute mile.
How did he get on, just out of curiosity....0 -
My PB is 11m 20s.0

I ran a mile for the first time since HS last night. 17 min.
Don't feel bad! I've been working on mine for two months and JUST hit under 18 minutes. I use to be about 25 so its all about improving every time you do it. Keep up the good work!0 -
Geez; I suck! 12 minutes0

He did it.
Nice to see this has been brought back to life.
I'm doing C25K and my average is 10'33 but that still includes alternating between walking/jogging.
I have a few goals in regards to running:
Run a 10k
Run 100m in 11 seconds.
Run 1 mile in 6 minutes.0 -
Now I think my best is 9:36! In high school when I ran track, I was in the 6 minute range I believe if I can even remember lol...0
-
Six minutes or a little under. Now I want to put a stop watch on it!0
-
I adverage 11:30 - 12 min. per Mi. I'm trying to get back into it. I like this pace. I feel like its more enjoyable for me. But really its just what your personal preference is and what you want to accomplish.0

I generally run 9 minute miles. The shortest I ran I think was closer to the 8 minute mark.0
-
fastest 9:30 but i was running on a hilly road0
-
When I was in the Army 1984-1987, I was cranking out 6 minute miles. Now I am happy with 8!0
-
My fastest was 8:30 but I run longer distances now. Training for a marathon! Good luck!0
-
I've begun running as a hobby, but the longest it takes me is 16:30, the shortest for me was 14:30, and I pushed myself. I wish to get under 14:30 for a first time, and keep doing a mile in shorter time each time.
I think warming up at home first, compared to warming up on a treadmill is more beneficial.0 -
My fastest is 10 minutes and I know this seems slow compared to some once upon a time i could not jog for one minute so to me this is pretty impressive so all you guys trying to get that mile quicker feel proud x
oh and ythis is my first post- hello x0 -
All of you make me feel so bad. I am only doing 17:5. But I am doing a 4 mile run and not just one mile. I hope to work on my speed now that I have reached the 4 miles. One year ago I was doing 6 miles in one hour. This is my goal for now.0
