I use the "No sugar added" kind... found it at walmart. They have cherry and apple. SO good!

I'm on a baking frenzy lately, so will try these soon!
  • This sounds delicious, but pretty unhealthy. It sounds like it's basically entirely sugar. Just because it's low carb doesn't mean it's a good option.

This works with a can of crushed pineapple too!

Have a similar recipe. Just use a full can of pineapple and do not drain off the liquid. Just add the pineapple to the angel food cake mix and mix well. Pour into a 9 x 13 pan. Cut into bars and figure out the calories by the size of the bars you use and the fraction of the cake mix and pineapple.
Just entered the recipe with the crushed pineapple in natural juice and the Calories, Carbs and Sodium is cut in half.
    This is a keeper.

Everyone needs a treat once in a while. If you can find a lower calorie option, I say go for it.

So tried this today. There was no liquid at all in the pie filling so I added the water. Haven't tried them yet. I hope the work out for a birthday treat.

Has anyone tried this using frozen blueberries??? Sounds good, especially with all the variations!!!

YES, in fact I used an equivalent of 20 oz. - roughly 2 1/4 c.- of BOTH frozen blueberries (1 1/4 c.) - but I thawed, drained and cooked them slightly in the microwave, added my own sweetener (Truvia), and let them set till they create their own syrup
AND 1 1/4 c. frozen cherries- prepared the same way.
Let cool and then add to the dry mix.

I was aiming for the RED/WHITE/BLUE color scheme- ended up getting purple.
Uh, Not real patriotic but EXTREMELY DELICIOUS!
