welcome everyone! have you all checked in with your weight for this week :flowerforyou:

when we are all ready next thursday i will update the list of members and whoever is first alphabetically will be in charge of the challenge for the week

this weeks challenge is not to overdue it at the weekend, we should still count our calories, drink our water and be active at the weekends too :drinker:

Well so far I've run 3 miles and spent the morning getting my oil changed and working in the lab, and I'm about to go lift. So far I haven't done any sort of celebrating for the football game!

Hey! I don't join these things normally, but recently I sort of 'fell off' a bit and wasn't really tracking my progress (or, regress?) until I realized that my tummy was looking poojey and my weight had slowly and steadily increased from 125.6 to 136.4 lbs :noway: from May to August. I am down to about 134 (on my TOM right now). Are we doing inches lost as well? I think that would give us a more inclusive look at our progress.

    So here's the other stuff

    Starting Weight: 134.6
January 1st Goal Weight: 124.6 (8.5 if I lose 1/2 lb a week, but I'll round up to an even 10 to challenge myself  )
Ultimate Goal Weight: 118 (or 19% body fat)
Inches Goal: 1-2 inches off the following: abdomen, butt, inner thigh
Hobbies: designing and implementing workout programs, hiking, reading, finding obscure music artists
Interesting Fact: I'm the first in my family to pursue a PhD

I'd like to jump on board as well...but i've only got about 5 lbs i'd like to get off. So measuring is what i'd like to do since i've been lifting weights.

    Start: 140
    Jan 1st 135

    waist: 29 in
    hips: 38 in
    thighs: 20 in

    Hello All.
My weekend was really relaxing, I take the weekends as rest time from working out. I have been working out at home since my daughter was sick and there for couldn't make it to the gym. Today however, is my first day back at the gym, and I'm pretty excited about going. I'm 11 pounds from my Jan 1st goal weight, and I can see it soooo close. I need to stay focused and not feel like I'm able to "cheat", I can't afford that just yet.
Hope everyone else had a great Labor Day Weekend

I was doing GREAT until Saturday night...we went to a friend's house and I went crazy on some homemade yeast rolls. Then Sunday I took my first day off in like two weeks...I keep meaning to take days off and then I get involved in some activity and end up forgetting to rest. Tiring. But I'm back to it today, did a short but very intense lifting session for about 25 minutes and then an hour of BodyStep tonight. Tomorrow I'm getting out for a morning run!

There are No second helpings in Life

    Author: Janice Elizabeth Small

{mosgoogle} It's so easy to put your life on hold until you lose weight.
It's easy to say "I'll do that once I've lost a few pounds" or
    "I couldn't do that I'm too fat".

But you only have one life - there are no second helpings. So
you owe it to yourself to live your life in the present and to
    live it to the full.

Going for whatever you want now, rather than waiting until you
are slim, can even help you lose weight.

    How so?

    1. It distracts you from eating

If you're busy working to achieve something, it keeps your mind
occupied with activities other than food.

Have you ever been engaged in an activity where you were so
absorbed you forgot to eat? People who live their lives
following their passions and going for their goals have a lot
more of those moments. It's called "being in the flow state" and
in flow your thoughts are on anything but food!

You know how it is when you're trying to lose weight - you feel
hungry just because you're thinking about food all the time -
what you can and can't eat, what you should and shouldn't have
eaten at your last mealtime. If you have other things to keep
your mind occupied, things you're 100% involved in, you'll be
able to stick to your weight loss program more easily.

    2. It prevents self-sabotage

If you're just a tiny bit scared that you're not cut out to
achieve what you want to achieve in life, you may be using your
weight as a form of protection. And you'll sabotage your weight
loss efforts at every turn to keep those pounds so that you
don't put yourself in the position of trying and failing. Your
weight is an excuse to keep yourself within your comfort zone.
It helps you justify sticking with what you know and are used to.

If you recognise this in yourself, take just tiny steps towards
your goal every day, tiny steps that don't seem difficult at
all. You'll build your success little by little and gradually
lose your fear and your weight.

Start going for your goals and what could be more satisfying?
You'll be losing weight and having a great time too. Life is not
all about the number on the scales and your attempts to shift
that dial don't have to be all consuming.

You only have one life, so go for whatever it is you want!

    Check in today : 140 .

    Trying to keep on track.

I spend about 4 hrs on elliptical per week and eat around 1200 cal / day. I have been at it for about 6 weeks now and lost about 5lbs.

Great Inspiration.Keep it up , I am just starting and it is so hard because of my love for food. The clothes do not shrink that much and I am purchasing larger sized to cover up the stomach and butt areas. Good job!
