    My 3 kids *love* smoothies.

    Today I used...

    1 c. milk (80 cals)
    1 c. plain organic yogurt (140 cals)
    2 bananas (200 cals)
    1/2 scoop vanilla & 1/2 scoop choc. protein powder (100 cals) =
520 cals for the whole thing. I split it 3 ways for them, which is around 173 cals a piece.

It's the only way I can get my 10yo to eat a banana!

I also sometimes use blueberries or strawberries or different kinds of yogurt and sometimes add a tablespoon or 2 of ground flax to it. (they never notice!)

I found a recipe for a peanut butter smoothie in a health magazine. It calls for vanilla low fat yogurt, frozen berries (i use strawberries), low fat chocolate soy milk, and a scoop of peanut butter. Blend.

I use frozen mixed berries (rasberries, blueberries and strawberries) plus skim milk. If it's not sweet enough, I add some Activa or sugar free coffee syrup. I have a major sweet tooth.

    1 frozen banana
    a few nuts (pecans, almonds)
    1/2 cup pineapple
    1/2 cherries
    1/2 tbsp ground flax
    water

Sometimes I use milk and yogurt, but with frozen banana there is enough texture to still be yummy with just water. I also freeze any leftovers in an ice cube tray and pop some cubes from previous breakfasts just for the extra bulk. The fresh fruit changes season to season, but the frozen bananas are really my staple. When I'm feeling daring, I might use some cooked squash or beets if I've got them on hand.

    my most fave is this:
    Mocha Java Smoothie

Combine your breakfast with your coffee for a real treat. For a thicker recipe, add 2 tablespoon vanilla yogurt.

    Servings: 1

    3/4 cup brewed dark coffee

    1/2 cup soy milk

    1 banana, peeled

    1 1/2 tablespoons cocoa powder

    1 teaspoon vanilla

    6 ice cubes

Place all ingredients in a blender and puree until smooth.

I finally have a smoothie recipe that I like. :-)

125 ml (1/2 cup) of Astro Zero % Fat-Free Vanilla Yogurt
125 ml of Oasis Health Break with Fibre juice (pineapple, mango)
1/2 cup of strawberries (I use Europe's Best Country Strawberries)

And if you're looking for maybe to add some protein or something after a workout, you can add (I did after my workout) a half scoop of whey powder. I didn't want to add too much.

    128 calories, 15 g carbs, 0 g fat (unless with the powder, of course), 7 g protein, and 71 g sodium.

I go with the dairy free route - believe it or not, it's still good!

About 4 oz White Pomegranete (sp?) grape juice
    1 very small frozen banana
1/2 papaya (I hate papaya as a stand alone - but the smoothie isn't the same without it)
    1 scoop of protein powder
fresh pineapple or any frozen berries I have on hand
    a handful of ice

    YUM!!!

I have a smoothie for breakfast quite a few times a week - mine are pretty simple:

    2-3 servings of frozen berries
    1.5 cups of Trop50
    2 tbsp toasted wheat germ

I've found it's easiest to blend if you put the berries in, add 1 cup of juice and the wheat germ.....once that starts to come together add the other 1/2 cup of juice.

I made my first smoothie tonight:
    1/2 cup orange juice
    1/2 cup plain nonfat yogurt
3/4 cup frozen fruit blend (found in the freezer section).. has strawberries, mango, and pineapple
    1/2 medium banana

Comes in around 250 calories and it made more than my glass could hold  TASTY!!
